Tim McGraw, Sugarland on Oprah's Christmas List

Posted: November 30th, 2009 at 5:25 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Tim McGrawIt was Oprah Winfrey's first-ever holiday duet extravaganza today (Nov. 30). And I don't know that I'd go so far as to call it an "extravaganza," but I will say seeing Tim McGraw and Sugarland in their holiday finest and on a winter wonderland of a stage did make me feel all Christmas-y inside. McGraw sang "Happy Christmas" with Alicia Keys, complete with croons and growls in all the right places. And Sugarland did a quiet, acoustic "Silent Night" with Jennifer Hudson, giving it a twangy soulful sound. Even better, the stars sat around with Winfrey after their performances and talked about holiday traditions. McGraw makes pasta on Christmas Eve and gives money so he doesn't have to shop. Jennifer Nettles likes to throw soup parties with her pals, and Kristian Bush records Christmas songs for his mom. Not only did the show give you some beautiful Christmas music to get you in the mood, it gives you a glimpse into how the other half lives come the holiday season.

I was OBSESSED with the Tim McGraw- Alicia Keys collaboration on Oprah. I hope the song will be available on iTunes or something, because I would love to have it to play during the rest of the hoidays!

Tim was wonderful as usual,I think the man gets better all the time. I think it is great that his best present ever was bringing Audrey home just before Christmas.

Tim Mcgraw is always HOT,but Faith should have been on the show. Tim and Alecia did sing well together, but I missed his wife.

Tim McGraw & Alicia Keys were a real treat! A very polished arrangment that came across wonderfully. It was a perfectly matched duet, a great song and Tim very much held his own!

I think Alicia & Tim did a great job. I really wanted Faith on there with Tim. But Alicia did a beautiful job.The song they picked is such a great song. Loved it!

But it seemed after watching it a few times, people that were coming out or already out with albums or movies were picked to be on there. I am not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Tim doesn’t need to hold his own. I’ll do that for him;)

This is great! Tim and Alicia did a great job! I love how country artists are getting out there. Tim hopefully will be the next Entertainer of the year with his movie being a hit and his tour is one of the tops!

I thought Tim & Alicia both sounded awesome. I enjoy both of them as artists and their music. Was a good pairing of vocals complimenting each other. Great job by both . . .

I think that Sugarland was dissed after the performance. Oprah asked them a few questions each and then focused completely on Jennifer Hudson. I hated it! They all sounded awesome though.

I didn’t watch the show. I would have if I could have muted Oprah when she yells … or maybe you could describe it as sing/yelling. Anyone who has watched her show knows what I’m talking about. Kathy Griffin does a perfect imitation of her.

This was a beautiful performance. Alicia hit them high notes and Tim sounded great. He really showed his versatility as a singer. There was no twang in his singing on this one, and showed he can sing more then just country.. Tim is a living legend, and my favorite singer of all time. Alicia is awesome also

What a beautiful performance by two amazing artists. Tim showed his versatility as a singer. He showed with that performance he can sing more then just country. I didnt even hear his twang in that song. He is the best singer of all time in my opinion and my favorite ever. Alicia Keys, wow what a powerful voice and such a range. Shes awesome..

Tim sounded great! When you are as talented as he is you can sing with anyone but I sure enjoy his singing with all the other talented artist like Alicia Keys. It was amazing!

Why does Tim have to wear that goofy plastic hat when he performs — I know, many of you are saying “it’s his trademark”, yeah, yeah. But, it still makes him look like such a hillbilly. We all know he doesn’t have any hair and if he actually did take the hat off for a performance, he would turn the women off, if you know what I mean….LOL.
