Keith Urban Says Sunday Rose Is Musical, Too
Keith Urban admitted that his baby girl, Sunday Rose, has got some really solid vocals and knows her way around a piano. "She's got some pipes. They're loud, you know! I think she sounds quite musical. Sit her at the piano and play and we mash the keys together," he said backstage after winning an American Music award on Sunday (Nov. 22). It may be a while before Sunday Rose can make real country music, but I'm hoping at the very least she will inspire Urban to write some songs about fatherhood along the lines of "Then They Do," "There Goes My Life" and "It Won't Be Like This for Long." Urban's last album, Defying Gravity, is so clearly the all-about-Nicole album ("If Ever I Could Love," "My Heart Is Open" and "Only You Can Love Me This Way" come to mind), that I'd love to see his next album have some stuff for all the parents out there to relate to.

I love the Defying Gravity album. I think it would be neat to see some Sunday Rose inspired songs on his next album. Keith can sing anything!
glo says:
This is worthy of a blog, why. Keith’s latest album is the worst of his career and that is why it got bad reviews. If you like syrupy POP music then buy it, if you like some meat with your syrup and country music then leave it on the shelf.
Granna says:
I’ll tell you why it’s worth a blog glo!! Cause his fans like to read things about him. You need to take your own advice and ignore anything about Keith if you hated his album so bad! I love DG…granted it may be all about Nicole, but it’s as good as some of the other stuff that’s out there right now!! His The Ranch album was as country as it gets and radio ignored it. Great album!
Bullride says:
I have a feeling it may be a while before Sunday Rose’s dad can make real country music too. If ever.
truthteller says:
I love Defying Gravity. Keith’s had two #1’s and a #3 song from this great album already. His 4th single is climbing up the charts now. It was nominated for Album of the Year at the CMAs and it’s also nominated for Album of the Year at the ARIAs (Australia’s equivalent to our Grammys).
Keith isn’t for everyone and that’s fine. I certainly don’t enjoy artists such as Tim McGraw or Kenny Chesney, but I don’t put them down on blogs just to show how immature I am.

At first I didn’t care for DG, especially compared to the Love, Pain CD. But it grew on me. As far as Keith’s next, it’ll be interesting if his “happy marriage” can keep his artistic juices going. You know how they say suffering and angst bring out the best songwriting. I’d agree with the person who said it would be nice to hear a little more country from Keith. Everyone knows Keith and The Ranch weren’t accepted by Nashville (which was truly a mistake). Now that he has “credibility/exposure” maybe he could go back and bring some of that country back into the music.
Tennesseegal says:
Only You Can Love Me This Way is not an Urban song.
Michelle R. says:
I think Defying Gravity is a very feel-good album. It is different from Keith’s past albums, but that doesnt mean it’s bad. I enjoy listening to it just as much as his past albums, because it puts me in a good mood. I agree with Truthteller, Keith may not be for everyone, but I dont think there is an artist out there who is for everyone. It just depends on what style of country you enjoy, and I happen to enjoy Keith Urban’s style, and so do all of his many fans.
giggles says:
Keith Urban defies gravity by his shear professional ability for producing and performing a broad and diverse music arrangment … country/pop/rock … It would get very boring indeed if Keith kept putting out to just to satisfy the minority … In my opinion Keith Urban has so much more to offer musically for his fans in the years to come … Just in the last two weeks, Keith Urban has not only been nominited for his his music, but has performed at the CMA’s, AMA’s and the ARIA’s … Not too sure of too many muso’s who can spruke about that on their cv …
BOBBY B says:
Keith Urban is the man.. He is so versatile and is bad a** in concert. I love him. His best cd was Love Pain and the whole crazy thing.. He is my 2nd fave, Tim Mcgraw is #1 always

People who don’t like Defying Gravity should give it a true listen. It is a masterpiece of wonderful, beautiful music. It is also very admirable that Keith Urban is willing to sing from his heart. The most important thing is he has a body of work that proves his amazing talent. A magnificent singer, guitarist and song writer. He also happens to be a true gentleman in love with his wife, his child and appreciating the life he suffered to attain. He is as country as it gets for me. Not stuck in the old genre as so many are, but able to rock out or add a wonderful pop element that makes his songs appeal to a broad spectrum. His concerts are an experience that any true music lover will never forget!!!
