Lady Antebellum's Sales Run After CMA Awards

Lady AntebellumIf you've ever wondered what performing on the CMA Awards would do for your career, I have three words: triple digit spikes. That's what happened for Lady Antebellum, Sugarland and Jamey Johnson. After winning two awards and performing the snowy "Need You Now," Lady Antebellum had their biggest sales week ever and a 130 percent sales increase from the previous week for their self-titled debut album. And Sugarland's current album, Love on the Inside, had a sales jump of 136 percent, while its concert companion, Live on the Inside, rose 110 percent. Even better, Jamey Johnson's That Lonesome Song jumped 286 percent after his performance of "Between Jennings and Jones" with Kid Rock, as well as his trophy for song of the year ("In Color"). That makes him the CMA performer with the biggest album sales percentage increase this week and he is grateful for every album he's sold, because like he said on stage, "I've swung a hammer for seven bucks an hour so I appreciate every single person who supports country music."

I have to say that I was very happy that Lady A won Group of the Year. And this is coming from a Rascal Flatts fan, too. I have had Lady A’s album for a while, and it is great!

Sorry, but Lady A did not deserve this award. They did;t even come close to accomplishing what RF did this year.

Until they become the top selling country band of the DECADE while having all top ten or number one songs, become the first country artists ever to sell out Wrigley Field, and have the biggest opening of any country album in 2009 will they deserve a win.

But then again awards shows have always treated RF and their historic accomplishments like trash on the side of the road, so I guess this shouldn’t be surprising.

I lost all respect for the awards after the “Taylor Swift Show” and this furthur solidified my point.

Tailor Swift winning these catagories is a joke — send her and her screaming 13 yr old bff’s back to mtv where she and her fans belong. An embarrasement to the true country Artists and their fans.
