Margaret Durante Video Bows to Kings of Leon

Posted: November 16th, 2009 at 5:02 pm  |  By: Chris Parton

Newcomer Margaret Durante just had her first video added into the CMT rotation, and it happens to be a cover of the Kings of Leon hit, "Use Somebody." Since the Kings are Nashville guys themselves, the lonesome sentiment of the song may have already had some country influence, but Durante took the idea and ran with it. Her video covers something that Durante knows from experience -- moving to Nashville all alone with nothing but dreams and a guitar. It doesn't take long for her to realize that she could "Use Somebody" in her new home.

She really rocks this song and makes it her own. Where is she from?

‘Bout time someone in Nashville paid attention to the Kings of Leon. I went to her myspace page, and her other songs are just as strong, but are completely new to me.

I agree with the previous post - Kings of Leon is awesome, but I really like this spin on Use Somebody. She has such a pretty voice - are her other songs on itunes?

No! She has one song on Itunes which is Use Somebody but she has a song called “Put Yourself In My Blues” That could have been a hit on her myspace

This is really a great interpretation. KOL had a good song but this girl really makes it special. I heard her MySpace song “Blues” as well and it sounds like a hit! Wonderful voice and let’s see more!

Walked into the Bitterend NYC during the summer and sshe was onstage at the time. Had never heard of her. It was an amazing performance I saw that night with great vocals and tight band. Was convinced i saw a star that night.
