Daughtry, Dave Matthews Give an Edge to CMAs
Sometimes when I hear that so-and-so from the rock world is going to be performing on a country music show, I wonder why they give stage time to outsiders. With all the talented rookies and even nominated artists out there, why are they complicating things? Why can't this be a country show through and through? Then I hear Dave Matthews throw his sultry best into "I'm Alive" with Kenny Chesney at last night's CMA Awards. And I hear Daughtry tear up "Tennessee Line" with Vince Gill. And I hear Kid Rock dial things up with Jamey Johnson on "Between Jennings and Jones." Now I've completely changed my tune. Those three artists didn't steal anything away from the show. They gave it an edge and that's a welcome addition any time.

They should have given a third performance to your boss Taylor!!!!!
Tina says:
I agree. This was wrong. More Taylor please, and play the Lalala song on cmt.

I thought Vince & Daughtry sounded great together, and certainly would rather have heard ANY other performance
than off-key, flat tone, hair flying TS.
john says:
i think jamey johnson is bringing country back to country.could have done with out kid rock and the song would have been, somewere between jennings and jones.kenny and dave was the 2nd best performance.even though daves not country, neither are a lot of them claming to sing country
Melissa Bates says:
Daughtry & Vince on ‘Tennessee Line’ were flawless. Props to Chris Daughtry and his amazing vocals!
Jewel girl says:
Welcome back Vince! It was so wonderful seeing you back on the stage at the CMA awards! For a brief moment, I am transported back to 1993…your very special year of reconition at the CMA’s!(also the BEST host ever!)Any chance of returning to host?
gbaugh says:
How refreshing to get a glimpse of Vince Gill. But what a sad commentary for Country Music when an artist with his talent appears on the CMA’s and the two bars that he sings can’t be heard over the noise of the “new talent” he’s accompaning. Vince commented on a past show that country music wasn’t changing, just growing. Unfortunately for us Vince, you were wrong. Country music has changed and not for the better.
Redmaz says:
gbaugh, you say Country Music has changed and not for the better? I assume you are talking about Pop Country. Is that correct? I was wondering how you feel about today’s Americana/Roots Country?
