Brad Paisley Had the Best Time Ever at CMAs

Posted: November 12th, 2009 at 2:40 pm  |  By: Craig Shelburne

Brad PaisleyHere's the first thing Brad Paisley told reporters backstage last night at the CMA Awards: "I had the best time I've ever had at an awards show." That's big praise, considering he's won 13 CMA Awards in all. Paisley picked up his third consecutive male vocalist award and also accepted his fourth CMA Award in the musical event category for "Start a Band," his upbeat collaboration with Keith Urban. "Any time you can streak in a category - careful! - it's not only some pressure but it's a rare, rare sort of honor," he said. "I'm really proud to carry that badge another year."

Asked about the overwhelming success of Taylor Swift, who once opened shows for Paisley, he joked that he's going to stop taking opening acts on the road with him. "I couldn't be prouder of her," he said. "She has taken the music world by storm. She's the biggest artist in music, period, by far, right now. So it's hands-down that she's the entertainer of the year in country music, no doubt. I'm really proud for her. There's such a thing as an amazing amount of natural talent and momentum that comes with a person like her. You could see from the minute she started. They're also doing everything right. I'm really proud of what her father and mother and her and her management team are doing. Getting to know them out on the road, I'm not all surprised at how fast she's gone."

Taylor didn’t deserve entertainer of the year she hasn’t paid her dues for this honor

The other nominees for ETOY are seasoned artists who have “paid their dues.” Swift hasn’t done that. Her successes have been handed to her on a silver platter.

Jason Aldean should have been nominated. He was the only one on pitch other than Brad and Carrie. Just wait, he will be taking the industry by storm, there is only so many times they can ignore him.

I really think Taylor is a wonderful entertainer. Is she CMA Entertainer of the Year? I don’t think so…..I luv ya Taylor, but come on….Keith Urban has been touring all over the world, he was my vote.

Brad deserved it over taylor by far. But kudos to Brad for being a class act.

Although kenny should have won, you got to give swift the credit she deserves. But, I’m afraid she will have a winning streak at least as long as kenny chesney, so prepare yourselves. You know she will win EOTY at the fan voted ACM’s. Oh, she will probably win album and FVOTY cause that’s fan voted.

Brad’s the man. Great guitarist and super singer/songwriter
“Welcome to the Future”, “I Thought I Loved Her Then”, “Start a Band” …. this boy’s on a hot streak.

And what variety! From one of the prettiest love songs ever to one of the most insightful and positive songs about modern times, then toss in one of the best guitar showcases since Duane and Eric got together on “Layla”.

But even apart from the music, Brad is a class act. Hilarious sense of humor. And the genuine respect and encouragement he has given to a young female like Taylor — even when she snares an award which some might argue could have been won by himself — shows a generosity of spirit and a man who is both fair-minded and very secure in his own skin.

    Nicely done, Mr. Paisley.

Having a hard time breathing Paisley? Those awards giving you enough air? Lose the mangina and grow a pair.

I agree. Come on Brad tell us how you really feel about Taylor Swift. Also there is no way Taylor should have won entertainer of the year. She has great songs ,but they need to find someone else to sing them.

Everyone keeps saying Taylor needs to pay her dues first before winning the top awards…WHY are they saying this?! She shouldn’t win at all, no matter how many dues she has or has not paid, BECAUSE SHE’S NOT A COUNTRY MUSICIAN.

All due respect to Brad, though, he’s my favorite. That’s where my screen name comes from. I totally agree with you, D Trotter.

brad you deserved entertainer, swift wishes she had half your talent. your guitar playing, song writing, animation artist, singing, originality charming humor surpass swift! CMA’S should have been called “Taylor’s cma’s” tired of the true talent not being awarded!!!
