And the CMA Award Doesn't Go To ...

Posted: November 12th, 2009 at 1:38 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

CMA Awards logoEven being nominated, they say, is an honor. But after years of watching country awards shows, I have to say it that it felt so strange to NOT have Kenny Chesney accepting anything at last night's CMA Awards with a heartfelt speech about being from East Tennessee. Or Rascal Flatts NOT joking around on stage, awards in hand, while they thanked God and their wives. And there was a big fat void without Keith Urban doing some charming Australian-accented thing (although he did win musical event of the year prior to the telecast) or Carrie Underwood trying to stop the tears welling up in her eyes while she thanked fans, country radio and her mom. I'm not saying I disagree with the decisions of the voters this year. I love that country seems to be ushering in a new era of artists. But it feels like that journey from yesterday's winners to today's went by way too fast.

I am terribly disappointed in the results of last nite’s awards. Taylor Swift didn’t (jmo) deserve all that. cma seemed like it stood for children’s music award. what happened to country at its best. it is def not at its best anymore. yuck yuck yuck

I am extremely disappointed in the results as well. Carrie Underwood should have won FVOTY. Her vocals are a notch above the rest. I was literally shocked! I hope next year the voters wake up and actually vote based on the criteria given for each category.

Taylor Swift phenomenon is very similar to Shania phenomenon all those years ago. I think Shania has more talent. Shania was called “she can’t sing” but she can stay on tune.

But the difference is Shania is a foreigner who doesn’t contribute to Nashville. The other one is made in USA product and the best thing since sliced bread (oh—I thought that was Carrie 3 years ago).

Hey.. you forgot to mention George Straight. And camera zooms going to Miranda.

At least they honored their legends, and we saw alot of comedy, and great performences.

It was one of the best shows I’ve seen in along time.

I agree with this blog in ways, but I actually don’t agree with the results last night. Lady A & Taylor won awards they, i think, didn’t deserve. The CMA’s should NOT have awarded the FVOTY to Taylor - worst decision EVER made by CMA’s…Ever

im a huge taylor swift fan, and i think she deserved album of the year and maybe female vocalist, but it was waaayyy too soon for her to win entertainer. That award should be given to artists that have more experience and have been in the business longer. Kenny or keith should have been at the podium last night accepting the award, not taylor. I do love taylor though, but she needs a couple more years to really prove herself entertainer of the year.

Can someone explain the purpose of the awkward attempt by Swift to be an adult performer? Was this a yoga demonstration with the red microphone? Entertainer of the Year…what a joke to the real artists? Female Vocalist of the Year….she really can not sing without the help of technology.. Something to say about the character of the real professionals who politely congratulated her….

  • Leslie says:

Winners last night were laughable… Taylor Swift - 19 yrs old and already nominating her for Entertainer of the Year…and then she says “I got to open for all of the other nominees this year” - what message does that send. Don’t get me wrong - I love Taylor Swift but just because she sells “pop-country” to the millions of tweens out there doesn’t mean she is the top entertainer of the year.

Leah: I have to disagree. It is entertainer of the year, which means they gave it to an artist who did outstanding this year. It was clearly Taylor’s year. Even with a not so good voice… I cried when I saw how happy the others were for her.

I used to love listening to country music. I don’t listen that much any more. I think it’s a joke that Taylor Swift (WHO CAN NOT SING TO SAVE HER LIFE)won all the awards. Who can’t listen to any radio station because they all play her songs. ITS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!! VERY MUCH DISLIKE HER.

Last year Carrie Underwood wins Entertaier of the year. This year Taylor Swift wins it. For over ten years the greatest singer entertainer in all of country music has never even been nominated for it and has numerous number 1 CD’s and songs has won female vocalist over and over again and sings like an angel from heaven. Martina McBride will always be The Entertainer of the Year each and every year to come no matter who does the voting. The CMA’s only give out awards to whoever makes the most money for them not on who is the most talented. Carrie and Taylor are good singers but neither one can sing on the same level as Martina McBride.

I do NOT agree with what has been happening with Country Music awards in the past couple years. I think artists should earn their way to the top, not be catapulted there before they earn that honor! The last couple years, it was Carrie Underwood, who literally came out of nowhere and was suddenly this great star…now the same thing is happening with Taylor Swift. There are many artists out there that have been working hard for years to make a name for themselves AND just as talented, if not more talented, then both Carrie and Taylor. For whatever reason, they are not acknowledged.

All I am going to say is that the Favorite female Vocal category should have gone to ANYONE other than Taylor Swift. It is a VOCAL category…not a category of who can flip their hair around the most, throw a chair, slide down a pole, and then throw herself on the floor….and who needs serious technicians to make her voice sound good on a CD! A true winner of the VOCAL category is someone who sounds just as good LIVE….as they do on their recording….Taylor Swift is NOT IT!!! What a shame to the rest of the ladies in this category….their true talent and gift of awesome vocals were completely dismissed!!! Shame on the CMA’s!!!! :(

For once I agree taylor performance last night was terrible. As for the awards she received album of year she deserved but not female voc or eoty. Carrie deserved the female voc of the year and brad paisley deserved the eoty. Don’t get me wrong I like taylor but she needs to improve alot.

TAYLOR IS POP NOT COUNTRY AND SHE CANNOT SING! THE CROWD DROWNED HER OUT LAST NIGHT SINGING WITH HER AND THEY SOUNDED BETTER THAN TAYLOR DID!

CARRIE AND BRAD DID A WONDERFUL JOB HOSTING THE AWARDS, BUT CARRIE SHOULD HAVE WON FOR BEST FEMALE VOCALIST AND BRAD SHOULD HAVE WON ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR. THEY WERE ROBBED. SHAME ON YOU CMA!!!

ENOUGH ABOUT TAYLOR ALREADY! SICK OF HEARING ABOUT HER AND HOW FAKE SHE ACTS WHEN SHE WINS! MY GUESS SHE ALREADY KNEW THE RESULTS, BECAUSE OF HER DADDY AND MANAGER SCOTT B.

I was extremely disappointed when Taylor Swift won for entertainer of the year. Personally, I do not think she deserves to be in any category with Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, George Strait or Brad Paisley. All I could think was that it must have been fixed! She has no talent in the singing department, she can not carry a tune! I am not trying to take away from any of her abilities as a song writer, because she must be doing something right in that department because of all of the her albums that have been sold. The Country Music Association must be banking on keeping all of the teeny boppers in country music, because those are the only people I know that like her at all. Every time I have seen any of her performances, she has a hard time staying on key and has a hard time keeping up with the song itself. If country music is going to start letting anyone in that can flip their hair around and sing off tune, please sign me up! True talent was completely over looked last night and I doubt that I will be watching the CMA’s any time soon.

I agree with everything that is being said. If you want to talk about the next generation - where was Dierks Bentley? not to mention where was Trace Adkins? Both very talented men but no nominations and I didn’t see them on the show either. Not to mention many others. It was great to see Billy Currington performing on the show - another from the next generation who has worked long and hard for many years to finally get where he is today.

Taylor is the product of great marketing and promotion. Nothing else.

I’m afraid to say that as long as the ACMs are fan-voted then no male will win - it will be between Carrie and Taylor, unless for some reason neither of them are nominated.

Was hoping the CMAs wouldn’t be as much of a joke as the ACMs were earlier this year. But, alas, I was wrong.

Keith Urban was robbed, pure and simple. Year after year he puts out incredible music, performs high-energy sold-out shows, and is an amazing musician. I will never understand why he does not get the recognition he deserves. I thought Nashville “accepted” him years ago, but maybe not. Sad.

I am thoroughly disgusted with Taylor even being nowminated as Female Vocalist of the year. Its a insult to all the Great Lady Female Vocalists of the Past. That could really Sing and emote to what they sing.Taylor can’t do either.I can’t think of a single young female artist in Country Music that can’t sing better than Taylor. What Tin ears keep her even nominated for this award. This is the biggest slap in the face to Reba,Martina,Faith,Carrie,Allyson,Gretchen and many more previous winners the CMA’s could give them they all believe they won because they had great vocal talent and sold wonderful sound tracks.Well at least Carrie replaced Taylor’s Fearless in Country Albums and Billboard 200 as #1.along with having the #1 Country Song.Carrie is a Vocal Virtuoso not just a lady that has a tremendous vocal range she plays her voice like a musical instrument she is so good.Taylor isn’t even in the ballpark with any of the former winners.

CMA’s were a complete joke last nite. I agree with all the posts here reagarding taylor swift - what was the point in cmt.com have the fans vote online when the end results were already decided (so it appears) One thing, I did noticed last nite, when taylor won the entertainer of the year award - she didn’t act surprised (fishy) nor did she even shed a tear (thats a big award 2 win)she could’ve been alot more appreciative. CMT needs 2 re-evaluate their standards of country music cuz taylor is pop music - she AINT country by no means. I hope cmt changes the way the votes are counted next year or change something about the CMA’s.

Vince Gill are someone at the Hall should step up and clear this up.Keith said he would do this next year after the results of over half million dollars to the Hall.I do hope Keeith was on stage to receive his trophy for “Start a Band”I would love to see that.

I was watching the CMA Awards. I was very upset. You have all these new comers being nominated. And not all of them are all that. the you have Jason Aldean who gives it his all as you can see through his concerts and videos.
I was very upset that he was not nominated for anything. What is going on people. No wonder he seemed not himself when he was singing last night. He was what 2nd or 3rd to the end and no nominations. He is a whole lot better than some of the want a bee singers now adays. To me, he can hold his own with the Big Dogs like Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Toby Keih. I give credit where credit is due. That credit goes to Jason Aldean.I just hope that next time he will be NOMINATED AND WIN!

I knew Taylor would win EOFY. She has done more with touring, plus TV, plus movies plus other shows like SNL. She is a gifted songwriter and thus she won Album. But the one award, she should have never ever won was Top Female Vocalist. There were 4 top rate, gifted singers up for that award and then Taylor, a girl who cannot stay in tune, who sings easy in range songs that anyone can sing better than her. Just last week the reviews were hammering her appearance on “Dancing with the stars” saying how Taylor singing live is not showing her best side. So imagine the shock of true country fans when a true singer was not given that award. The CMA’s should be ashamed of themselves for trying to get the Pop fans. A best selling artist does not mean she’s a good singer. I teach music and have perfect pitch. I have to turn the sound down. I went to work today and they all said when she started the show, they all turned to another station. It just plain hurts our ears. That award set back the integrity of the CMA awards. Obviously, someone was paying off someone to have Taylor win that award. CMA’s have to work hard to redeem themselves for that fiasco.

Hey, Alison, maybe you should have called your blog, “AND NOW FOR SOME SOUR, SOUR GRAPES…”

Or, maybe, “SOUR GRAPES BECOMES SOME BAD WHINE…”

You make it sound like the “old guard” (Keith Urban?? Carrie??) are being put out to pasture or something, and I don’t see that happening, not with Keith’s fans, and certainly not with Carrie’s new CD grabbing the Billboard 200 #1 slot this week. They simply were caught flatfooted by a whirling dynamo named Taylor Swift who raised the ante in the game. Now everyone needs to respond to that challenge.

The real story is where does Taylor go from here. I see lots of comments saying she’s a fad. Of course, most of those same people were saying she no chance for EOTY, too. Do you think she ever sleeps?

Will someone tell me what just happened? Seriously. Taylor Swift might be a somewhat talented songwriter, but the girl CANNOT sing. When you put her in a group with artists like Kenny Chesney, King George, Keith Urbin it’s a real travesty. Kenny Chesney SHOULD have been the Entertainer of the Year, or actually ANYONE else in that category other than Taylor Swift. Is this CMT’s way of apologizing to her for what happened when that idiot jumped up on the stage with her? I’ll bet Johnny Cash is turning over in his grave right about now. WHAT’S HAPPENING to Country music? That was the WORST CMT Awards I have ever seen. No wonder Brooks and Dunn are getting out. That was just sad!

I wish I could say that I was surprised last night. I had this sickly feeling in my stomach that things would turn out this way. I think Taylor Swift is talented for her age - writing songs when so many artists never write any of their own. Her performances fall far short of professional and mature. Her voice is weak at best. I have never seen a live performance that wasn’t cringe-worthy. And the “whipping my hair around like I’m a hard rock band lead singer” looks ridiculous. You can see the professionals in the audience trying not to laugh. It’s like watching your teenage daughter/son in show choir - at 14.

I may be tired of seeing Carrie Underwood win, but she has a powerhouse voice that can’t be denied. I personally think that Miranda Lambert, a songwriter in her own right, has an equally strong voice and is shamefully overlooked. There are times when Swift can’t even carry the melody of her songs. This vote was a travesty.

Brad Paisley is endearing - he writes quirky songs and plays a mean guitar, but his vocals are not particularly impressive. A voice is an instrument and his isn’t particularly expressive - it doesn’t contribute to the mood of the song. If you listen to Keith Urban’s album you will recognize the difference. Male vocalist of the Year - Keith Urban earned this.

Best Album was another mind numbing disappointment. Keith Urban wrote and performed a kick-ass album. Admittedly I am a fan, but I acknowledge that other artists in this category made some fine music as well. He deserved it for this one - anyone else deserved, but not Swift.

I guess the bottom line is that she shows promise, but she belongs at the Kid’s Choice Awards, not the CMA’s. She belongs at the People’s Choice Awards, not the CMA’s. The fact that she opened for many of the other acts in the ETOY category says more than I can. I saw Sugarland open for Keith Urban and they were worth seeing. I think the Nashville community should be ashamed of themselves. Regardless of taste he put on a show that made U2 look like amateurs this summer (& I’ve loved them since I was 12). He played for over 2 hours, hit every note, played the hell out of his guitar and simply rocked the arena. Music critics and journalists have lauded his concerts for months…and anyone who saw what he did for the “We’re All For The Hall” benefit concert knows what he’s accomplished. Fan voting is ridiculous. Teeny-boppers haven’t been alive long enough nor been to enough concerts to tell the good from the bad from the amazing. Carrie Underwood wasn’t an inspired pick either. The only 2 contenders last year were Paisley and Urban, and neither one won. Kenny Chesney is beyond overrated - he works for 3 months of the year and plays concerts with 7 other artists on the ticket, he doesn’t play an instrument, he has a mediocre voice and he doesn’t write many songs. I don’t care how much money he makes - these awards have qualifications and they should have standards, and money shouldn’t be one of them.

I didn’t even watch the end of the show because I couldn’t stomach it. Here ends my tome, but I hope the voting members of the ACM find some backbone and vote for the most deserving nominees in the spring. If they don’t they’re going to prove that they are no better judges of talent that 13 year old girls and their awards will become irrelevant and meaningless.

You guys crack me up Whine fest here. All you’re whining isn’t going to change anything and the fact is the CMA got it right. You guys here on the blog/board are just a few people, you’re in the minority not the majority. Taylor was voted in by 6,000 Academy Professionals Worldwide. Take a look at her worldwide records. No other artist has touched her records either in the US or Internationally, or even come close to it. Taylor is going to be around for a long time, so suck it up and for goodness sakes, quite whining!!!

I am extremely dissapointed. Taylor swift is 19 years old. People need to quit trying to defend her like she’s some little child. if kanye had never done what he did, taylor wouldn’t have even come close to female vocalist. coming from a 2nd generation vocal coach, taylor swift’s voice has no power whatsoever. that award should’ve gone to martina mcbride or carrie underwood. Not taylor. she honestly was the least qualified for that award. entertainer didn’t really matter to me because she did have a huge year but vocalist….really? it shouldn’t have happened and whoever voted for her needs to quit feeling sorry for her, and treat her like an adult. this taylormania is becoming ridiculous. carrie underwood deserved that award. to me, taylor winning was a big slap in the face to the other monumental artists like martina and reba. they’ve worked hard and paved the way, then this little teeny bopper comes along and destroys everything. i’ve seriously losing hope with taylor.

I agree, I had a feeling she might win only because of this whole Kayne thing and everyone feeling bad for her. yes, she has sold tons of albums and works her butt off, does her myspace..whatever. All of that doesn’t mean she is the best female vocalist, sure she somewhat deserved EOTY for her hard work but even then, compared to George, Keith, Brad, and Kenny? That’s an insult to country at its best. Back to Female Vocalist - that’s also an insult to Martina, Reba, Carrie, and Miranda - women that can actually sing, remember now, it’s called female VOCALIST, not studio-produced. Look back on how much Taylor thanked her producer - if it wasn’t for him, she probably would’ve sounded like she does LIVE on her CD, and everyone knows that it’s time to mute the TV when she sings live

The professionals? in the Country Music Association should hang their heads in shame this morning. You insulted every artist with talent nominated last night with your sellout to the Taylor Swift PR machine. Shame to Reba for saying she voted for TS for ETOY because she was female. Talk about ignoring proven entertainers for the latest tween hit machine. If I was one of the artists nominated in any of the categories she won I would refuse to participate in future shows. I for one have watched my last awards show after the travesty of the CMA’s & the ACM’s. THE ETOY SHOULD HAVE BEEN KEITH URBAN HANDS DOWN. TS was an opening act for him & never outshone his performances. When did opening acts qualify for the supposed top prize? The CMA’s have lost their claim to prestige & have cheapened their awards.

She is the complete opposite of a vocalist, and the CMAs were utterly and completely disgusting. A mockery of those that have true talent.

Taylor swift is the worst vocalist in country music or any genre. Not trying to be mean, but it is a fact. For her to win Female Vocalist was a disgrace, and an embarassment to the CMAs. They lost alot of credibility last night.

Taylor’s opening number was pitiful at best. Her vocals were so off key it was funny! lol So then she wins Best Female vocalist? wow.

Miranda or Carrie both deserved that award, and everyone knows it. Shame on you, CMAS, for using the Kanye pity vote to make a mockery out of the CMAS, a once prestigious award.

Also, I’m very happy that she won Album of the Year, because Fearless is a great CD, but female vocalist? All of the other women in that category have so much more vocal talent than her. Not even to say Carrie should have won, because she laid low this year, but what about Miranda? Reba? Martina? But whatever, I guess next year can only be better..

I thought it was horrible how she said she open for all the other nominees-what a rude comment. Keith and Brad are so incredible. I felt like they, especially Keith, got the shaft. Keith is awesome and so talented. He should have won a major award-he totally deserves it. while taylor was deserving of several of her earned awards last evening, it’s a shame that EOTY and Female Vocalist didn’t go to those who truly earned it…Keith Urban/Brad Paisley were robbed and Martina has Female Vocalist in the bag….well until the CMA voters fell asleep and let the drool of a pop-country sensation dream fill in their ballots. don’t get me wrong, taylor is talented, but she still has A LOT to prove in the vocal category. two very deserving winners, i think, were Sugarland and Lady A - what talent!

good luck CMA, may the best man/woman win next year…

I agree with most of you on this…’PLJ,’ you definitely said a mouthful. Taylor Swift is an undeniably talented songwriter, but I’ll be the first to admit that in live performance, she can’t hit a note. I have no problem with her winning Album of the Year. Fearless has definitely flown off the shelves. However, Taylor’s wins in the FVOTY and EOTY categories were undeserved.

ANY one of the other nominees for female vocalist were far more deserving: Reba, Martina, Carrie, and Miranda have all earned their places in country music history. Their voices are strong and powerful, and their live performances are unrivaled.

When Taylor won EOTY, I can’t say that I was surprised, but I was deeply disappointed. Taylor may be a rising star, but she has NO place beside great names such as Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, and GEORGE STRAIT.

Ok, the CMA have just turned into one big popularity contest. Now I know that’s all it’s sorta ever been, but it’s gotten far worse in recent years. I mean, let’s take GOTY for example (EOTY is just a worn out topic by now.) I listen to country music ALOT. now, here’s what i’ve heard about the nominee’s.

Egales- they’re old. not really together anymore. yes, a classic, and yes, legands. but 1. not really country. 2. how many songs of theirs (originals) do you hear on the radio? yeah. my point.

Little Big Town- don’t get me wrong. i love them. but they don’t headline a tour, nor did they do much.

Lady A- Few good singles. great OPENING tour.

Rascal Flatts- broke the iTunes record for fastest rising single. Sold out Wrigley Field. Had another AMAZING cd. Sold out tour (which, was one of the best i went to this year, and the only one i attended 2x) 3 more hit singles. A double sponsored tour. Years of experience.

and who does it go to? Lady A. RIPOFFFFFFFF

I was talking to a friend at school today and she said “well, Rascal Flatts has won it so many times…..” so what? are they putting a limit on the number of times you can win an award in a row? i mean really? Rascal Flatts was the only group in that category with their own tour for crying out loud! what has the world come too? is their no honor left?

Logan, you forgot one nominee, Zac Brown Band. Debut album certified platinum. First three singles all went to #1 on the radio airplay charts. Two of those three singles went to #1 on Billboard. Went from opening shows to headlining their own tour in less than a year after their first single. Have come up through the grassroot ranks of the Atlanta music scene. Plus they are the whole package: singers, songwriters, musicians and entertainers.

That being said, I think Rascal Flatts should have still won the award this year. But Zac Brown Band would have been a better choice than Lady A (and I REALLY like Lady A’s music!).

Why is everyone yelling and getting mad at Taylor? If you’re looking to blame someone because you don’t agree with the results of last night’s award show, blame the PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR HER.

Everyone just needs to grow up and stop putting blame where it doesn’t belong.

The CMA’s last night were a huge joke. The Association who voted for last night’s winners should be ashamed of themselves. Single of the Year should have gone to Jamey Johnson. Lady A’s song was okay, but not in the same league as Jameys. MVOTY should have gone to Keith Urban. Brad is a good performer, but Keith is better and did more this year with record and touring and such. FVOTY should have been given to Martina. Enough said on that. VGOTY was Rascal Flatts and they got robbed royally. How do you not award them for all they have accomplished this past year. Selling out Wrigley Field, MSG, album debuting atop both Billboard Hot 200 & Country Charts. Duo should have gone to Brook and Dunn, and not because this is their last year. And ETOY was a joke. It should have gone to Keith Urban. My choice of Rascal Flatts were not nominated. Taylor has a good studio voice, but live, she’s horrible. She just went out on her first headlining tour most of which is attended by teeny bopper girls. Her album sale are great, but not ETOY quality yet.

The performances were okay. And please please stop inviting random celebrities to this show. Keep it country based, hence it being called the Country Music Association. Kid Rock is not country and will never be country…………..LEAVE.

The Country Music Association better wake up and realize the huge mess they created last night and FIX IT and FAST.

Looks as though CMA is only in it for money and ashame to see good artist such as Carrie Underwood walk away without an award she highly deserves. How about CMA retracting and giving the awards to the individuals that deserve them. Brooks and Dunn should have duo of teh year, sugarland, sugartown whatever the short time group is called should not have won that award. I agree with Brooks and Dunn for not going up on stage, with them they already had been insulted by losing to that bunch and they want them to come up on stage to show it off, RIDICULOUS CMA. Bonnie,

The “popification” of country music has been going on since the ’80’s. Barbara Mandrell’s “If Loving You Is Wrong” is a good example of this. Reba’s version of “Respect” is too.

Some of Dolly Parton’s songs even have a “pop” flavor to them. (Straight Talk, Why’d You Come In Here Lookin’ Like That, and Better Get To Livin’ to name a few)

It’s been going on long before Taylor & Carrie came along.

EOTY has always been about $$$ if you think about it. It has been awarded to the biggest tour for the past 5 years except 2005 (Mr. Urban). Kenny thought it was a mistake but that’s the last time they awarded to a non-$$$earner in recent yeras. Probably same with Vince Gill winning after Garth Brooks (he was awarded for his musicianship, not for the showmanship/earnings).

Oh..well, very interesting event. Wynnona was almost Kayne but she rephrased her statement of “too fast..too soon….”.

Of course it is… and Taylor had sold 3 million of “Fearless”…

[..I believe it was that she sold the most of one album out of any genre of music..]

She also had one of the biggest tours, if not one of the biggest tours in any genre.

    Entertainer of the Year? Absolutely.

  • Kelli says:

    Posted: November 12th, 2009 at 9:06 pm

I agree with your article/opinion, it was sad to see some artists not recognized for their hard work, but at the same time ALL the artist who won, were very deserving.

Some of you feel that Taylor should not have won Entertainer of the year, and you are entitled to your opinion, but Taylor honestly does deserve it. I agree that she may not be the best singer, but she can sing better than me, and probably over half the people who criticize her. You can’t give any high school girl a guitar and a microphone, and expect them to write songs like she can. I am 21, and have listen and loved country music my whole life. I know people say she is not country, but I think she is. What is country music? Personally, and I hope others would agree, I think country music is songs about life. The good times, the bad times. Songs about love, and heart break, songs about children and your tractor. That’s country. Taylor writes about life. She writes about love and heart break. She writes about her family. Growing up I up I would sing along to songs like “Friends in Low Places” or “It’s Your Love.” I was probably like 8, what did I know about drinking and heartbreak, or loving your spouse. I still liked the songs, and sang along with the radio. You can not relate to Taylor songs at a 35 year old male or 50 year old women, but you can’t deny she can write damn good songs. She doesn’t try to aim at a certain demographic, she just writes about what she knows, and that is having a crush on your best friend, or getting through high school with you best friend. I watched her Dateline special, and they showed her preparing for her tour. She knows lighting technique, she knows what she wants to hear from the electric guitar and drums. She can play guitar and piano. Like her band mate said, “she is a 19 year old with the knowledge of a 40 year old.” I think people should respect the CMA’s decision to give her the award. They are smart people, they know country music. It’s so easy to criticize people when you say it on the internet, and to to their face. I think we all need to work on respecting not only Taylor, but other artist, and industry well. You can critique them, but like I saw somewhere earlier today, we should be calling people the Anti-Christ. Lets be a little more mature than that. Otherwise the internet is worse than high school because no one has to own up to the comments they make.

It is obvious that Taylor Swift is being heavily promoted by the Nashville elite. She performed not once, but twice, last night and won three award - two of which she did not deserve. She ran around the stage, slid down a pole, screamed, tossed her hair, landed on the floor and somehow sang a song (abet off key and flat). I think everyone knew she would win Album Of The Year, given the sales of her latest CD, but to award her Female Vocalist of the Year with the likes of Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride & Reba sitting in the audience was a slap in the face of those truly talented women. The Entertainer of the Year award, country music’s biggest award should have gone to Kenny Chesney. I know he has won this award four times already, but he deserved to win last night as well. Nobody in country music sells out stadiums (or even tries to attempt this), has sold more tickets in the last decade, had #1 hits, flies through the air, and I could go on and on. Kenny is an excellent ambassador for country music as well. But if Nashville didn’t want to give the ETOY to Kenny then at least award the trophy to Keith Urban, who is about the only person who comes close to what Kenny manages to do - play to the last row of people in any venue. Keith does what Kenny does so well - he works the stage extremely well, goes out into the audience (huge plus with the fans) and has a great show.
But to award Taylor ETOY was not right - she just started headlining and though she sells out her venues I have yet to see this teenager sell out a stadium. She yells/screams her songs and has yet to become the polished performer of any of the other nominees for ETOY. I can see where she might have won this award next year, but to give her ETOY this year was frankly discusting. It’s all politics and big business down there in Nashville. The only thing country about Taylor are her boots - she is a pop star, NOT a country star.

After going online and looking at the “fan” votes; the show last night did not represent what the “fans” thought. As I assumed, the awards were agreed upon in a closed door meeting between Swift’s p/r people and the powers that be at the CMA.This was disgraceful an what a slap in the face to all the other entertainers that can “really, truly” sing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KCFan, of course you would talk good about Kenny since you seem to be a fan. But who cares that he sells about stadiums. He only tours for a the summer. What about the fall, winter and spring. ETOY is for the year, not Entertainer of the Season. Because of that fact, he does not deserve to be in that category. Who cares how many albums he sells. He needs to entertain for the whole year, or most of it. All the other nominees did tour for the whole year.

PLJ…get your facts straight before you bash an artist! Kenny Chesney does not just work 3 months of the year. He is on the road 5 or 6 months between the keg shows he does and his tour. And, yes he does play instruments. He plays the guitar on many of his songs and he plays the piano also. No..he is not as good a guitarist as Keith but he does play and very well. Kenny works very hard and has for the last 8 years as a headliner. He did deserve the EOTY award. Actually, any of them besides TS deserved the award. One successful year does not make a true EOTY. And, by the way, Kenny does not have 7 acts on the bill with him. At most there are 4 other acts on his stadium shows. Those shows are amazing…to see so much talent in one day is great!! Keith opened for him just last year on his stadium shows…I saw him twice and both times Keith and Kenny were awesome!!

Taylor Swift FVOTY? Live she sings off key, and that opener last night? Totally out of tune and embarassing! I remember 2 years ago at Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting concert, she butchered Silent Night with a totally off key version she created. Google it, it is worse than fingernails on a chalk board. She deserved album of year, but Taylor cannot hold a note for more than 10 seconds, and it is off key. How can rednecks, biker chicks, and honkey tonks relate to her high school romance plots. She needs to write a song about something more than high school. What an insult to Miranda, Martina, and Carrie. I would love to read he mind of FAith Hill when she saw the envelope open. I have to say I agree. I mean I knew Rascal Flatts had to give up their rein over Group of the Year at some point, but I wasn’t ready for it. They have had a new CD out at least every other year, and lately its been one a year. They are amazing and I wish they were nominated for Entertainer of the Year again. And I can’t believe Carrie didn’t get anything. However, I was glad that Kenny didn’t get Entertainer again. I mean don’t get me wrong I love him, he’s great. But I did want to see someone else get appreciated for their hard work as well. However, I did not want to see Taylor get it. I mean I like her and all, but she hasn’t put in enough time to be in that category yet. The others that were nominated have worked so hard for so many years they should have gotten it over her. I have to say this was probably the most disappointing country awards I’ve seen. But hopefully next year RF and Carrie come back!

I like Taylor. She has a new sound and a strong career ahead of her. But I completely agree that this young lady does not belong in the FVOTY category. That category should be for women who can blow the doors off your chevy with their voice. And everyone else in that category can do that. This is not the same as the early careers of LeAnn or Carrie. Both of them have voices of the highest quality. Carrie’s initial knee jerk reaction was because she got her jump from American Idol. But she has the chops to back her up. The big disappointment is not Taylor, it’s the CMA’s for using Taylor in an inappropriate way to market country music. CMA’s have let down country music fans and the industry in a profound way by making the country music genre look cheap and unworthy of serious music fans. I feel sorry for Taylor for being used in this way. She missed out on an appropriate welcome to country music stardom. Nice going CMA.

LOL, no, no, no, no. 3x platinum = 3 million. Keith Urban’s “Be Here”, sold 5 million, and his “Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing” has sold 3 mill, Carrie Underwood’s sold 6 million etc. No.. she has not sold the most.

Keith Urban has sold over 14 million records in the course of 4 records (excluding Defying Gravity for a small part). Doubled the amount of Taylor Swift.

I gurantee you, this is her peak. Her next album won’t be as big. She won’t be a teenager anymore.

WOW…A lot going on here; very interesting. I am old school country; I do know that things change up from year to year & I enjoy variety; but some of this show belonged on MTV. What an insult indeed to have Taylor win Female Vocalist; the industry is riding this gravy train for all it is worth; she is hot until something newer comes along. Hopefully I pray that will be someone who can actually sing. She is constantly crammed down our throats daily on the radio; internet; TV etc., so you get tired of her. I will say though she has made some people very rich & you know they won’t let go of that anytime soon. They do not care if she can sing or not.

I thought she was a good role model for younger girls until I saw her opening number. WTH was she thinking & what were her parents thinking? You cannot honestly tell me that impressed them. OH wait; of course it did; they are part of that gravy train $$$$. Radio personalities were stating today they were shocked she won Female Vocalist; & they did not mean that in a good way; so what does that tell you? They are forced to play the music that they THINK EVERYONE wants to hear. She is truly a product of good marketing.

I would like to hear Trisha Yearwood more; now that is a voice. Miranda has truly come into her own, she gets way overlooked.
The reason Taylor sells so much is because her music is crossover; but it should stay over there and leave country alone. Just cause you sang a song w/Tim McGraw in the title & wear cowboy boots does not make you country.

I love Kenny but he needs to get away from the islands and get back to country. George Strait’s music speaks for itself; truly a country star. I enjoy Lady A but too was shocked at their win. Carrie does have a powerful voice but she is getting trashy & does not need to dress like a hooker; and bump & grind on stage to sing her songs. I am not a big Keith U fan; but I hear his shows are great. Maybe one day I will see one. B&D will be missed indeed; every show I have been to of theirs has been great. Martina is another fantastic voice who deserves more than what she gets.

Yes and where are Dierks, Jason Aldean, Trace, Blake, Phil Vassar & Jack Ingram? They all can sing & put on great shows; but I guess it is all about greed & who makes who the most $$$ and who is “politically correct” & the right game player.

I do not think there is any simple answer or solution; but please at least look at what real country means & what it means to those who care about it. Someone needs to listen up but I am not sure who. I will say it again; I know things change but why in this case is it not for the best.

And if some of those on the Red Carpet would spend less on their clothes etc. maybe they could actually donate it to schools that are losing their music programs…why in the heck do you need to spend that much on one dress? I for one do not care “who you are wearing.”

Sad - Everyone of you so called music critics wrote Taylor off even before her career got off the ground back in 2006. The hard fact is her debut cd is still on the charts and is continuing to rack up sales and it is still charting too setting records as it does. So you wrote her off back then - it didn’t work.
So every week for the last three years you write her off and say the next big thing will come along and everyone will forget about Taylor, that never happened either. Before her second cd gets released you complain some more about her voice and how bad she sings and the public goes out and makes Fearless her sophomore release a 5x platinum winner! Then you complain that she will never be able to headline her own tour - well guess what? Everyone of her Fearless Tour shows have been sellouts - looks like someone was wrong again!
Then you complain that she will never and I stress never here because you kept complaining daily she would never win a Female Vocalist Award - wrong again!
I am not here to say I told you so - just to say I have listened to all of your negativity for 3 solid years now and guess what?
6,000 CMA voters just voted her EOTY! How many times did you say that would never happen? You have a bone to pick about Taylor winning the EOTY award ?? Go take it up with the CMA! Taylor Swift is a genius and you don’t know what you are blogging about. I’m out of here.

Ok, to the person who says Kenny only tours 3 months pretty much shows that they only pay attention to Taylor. Kenny begins his Keg in the Closet shows in Feb/March and in late March begins his yearly summer tour. At the end of the tour he plays a few bars and shows in October before taking a much deserved break in Nov and up until he starts the next wave of Keg shows in late Feb. Kenny for years now has had the top grossing tour in country music and that includes this year. Yep he even beat Taylor. The lone exceptions to his reign at the top are the two summers Tim and Faith toured together.

The ETOY award belonged to Kenny or Keith, surely not Taylor Swift. When she headlines her own tour for a full year and pulls in the numbers Kenny does, then she can be considered ETOY. Until then, this award will always be a joke.

Also Taylor fans - just because someone is “getting old” and has won before doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to win more awards. Taylor deserved album and that is it. She has a long way to go to be FV or ETOY. Also, the comments you see here may make you laugh, but it is the sentiment of about 85% of country fans since the awards show. Check out the blogs or listen to your local country station. The three in my city were shocked to learn of the outrage of her winning these awards. It is you who is in the minority here, not us “real” country fans.

CMAs…..you took a chance and gave Taylor awards she did not deserve hoping she would catch lightening in a bottle for you like Garth and Shania did. Unfortunately for you, Garth and Shania brought in fans who became fans of other artists. If you read all of the blogs and see the reaction of Taylor’s “fans” who were at the awards show, you will see that her “fans” don’t care about other artists and only love her. This will be a fad that will fade just like they always do in Taylor’s true genre - pop.

All I have to say is thank god for the ACMs. Those people could care less about propping up fake stars and making money. They actually care about the music and was the reason for the ACM creation in the first place.

    Hay yall,
Wake up! Big Machine Records and Taylor are all laughing at you. ‘They are reaping the fact of “Look at what we have CREATED”. They do not care about the meaning of REAL Country music. Taylor is not the only artiste music that is not REAL Country music. I think it is hilarious that Tubby and the Flatts were left High and Dry. Along with them ole rascals It’s even funnier that Carrie Underwood was “outshined” by what Nashville crowned Taylor Swift as the ‘Whole Package”. All of you Carrie Underwood fans can now relate to the feelings that us fans of Reba, Martina, Gretchen Wilson, Miranda have had to learn to LIVE with. Carrie Underwood I will give you simple compliment, You can sing. Taylor your just a terrible singer. Although, its crystal clear to me NOW that both TS and CU have no influence on what I feel is a REAL Female Country Artist. I like and admire a REAL Woman’s music. Some of the most purest Female Artist is Gretchen Wilson, Martina, Reba, Dolly, The Judds, Patty Loveless, June Carter Cash, Roseanne Cash, Miranda, Emmelou Harris, Loretta Lynn, Allison Krauss and the GREAT Patsy Cline even when country wasn’t cool Barbara Mandrel. Now those are Country Female Artist who have already established and defined some of the Truest Country music ever. Neither Taylor or Carrie fit the true character of some of the finest Women of Country Music has had to offer.

Country Music is alive and well. The CMA’s etc are just a tiny part of it. Check out the roots country scene or Americana. You wanna hear female vocals check out Gillian Welch, Miss Leslie or Amber Digby. You wanna good male singers try Buddy Miller, Roger Wallace, Dale Watson or Arty Hill.

So sick of Taylor Swift! Constantly played on radio, CMT, all because the teens are going gaga over her. In her latest song, Fifteen, what kind of message are we relaying to our girls at this age? “When somebody loves you at fifteen you gotta believe them…?” Seriously, really? What does a fifteen year old know about love? It is all so sickening. She needs to get off country radio and go to Disney until she grows up and can write about something other than her diary.
As far as the CMA’s awarding her, all that was about was giving her something to throw back in Kanye’s face. To show him that he had NO RIGHT to interrupt her. I think it is all very pathetic and old news that “poor Taylor Swift” was snubbed at the other award show. She didn’t deserve FVOTY nor ETOTY. She doesn’t come close to the vocals that Martina or Carrie has. And I would like someone to explain to me how she performs better than Kenny, who has made the most money in sold out concerts for the past few years.

CMA’s you need to take a look at what people have wrote on several of the blogs that are out there this week and answer some questions to the public. Without us, your show wouldn’t get watched. You should be very ashamed of your choices.

I would say that 99% of the people posting here think that Taylor didn’t deserve the FVOTY and EOTY awards and I agree. In my opinion she’s a complete joke. I watched the CMA’s because I wanted to see the other artists perform but both times Taylor took the stage I listened for a while until her flat, off-key singing got to be too much and I muted the sound. Yeah, that’s what I consider FVOTY and EOTY. It’s a sad day for Country music!

Kelli said “I agree that she (Taylor) may not be the best singer, but she can sing better than me, and probably over half the people who criticize her.”

So if she’s not the best singer then why did she win Female Vocalist of the Year??

I agree that she sings better than I do. BUT, she doesn’t sing better than the hundreds of people who are trying to make it into the industry and can’t get a break. It makes me even more convinced that someone is being paid off to make her a star.

In a best singer category, the only ones you have to sing at least as well as, are the four or five others that are nominated in that category. When your vocal quality is clearly beneath the other nominees, a win is not even conceivable. That is how clearly FVOTY was wrong. Who are you fooling CMA???

I agree with most of these postings! I couldn’t even watch when all 5 screen split was on the face’s of Kenny and Keith, George and Brad..

the shocked look was unbelievable!! All I could say was OMG! Every single one OTHER than the 19 year old should of won this award! I really wanted Kenny to go up again.. because he is the hardest working talent out there! He is totally, 100% into his Fans and appreciates what he has earned and worked so hard for!

Keith smiled and just nodded his head because, It was “Teeney Bopper night” How could she even go up there and think she deserved this?? she is so Nieve! She really thought she earned this award?? unbelieveable! What a Joke, the CMA’s have become! This award should be one given by the artist peers and the CMA officals themselves! not the teenagers dialing in! unbelievable! What a Joke!! Has anyone ever been to one of Taylors Live shows?? She can’t Sing at all in Live Shows, she screams like a cat being skinned alive! sorry! but so true! her flame will die out when she runs out of teen age boyfriends and slumber parties!! Ha!…

with out the recording studio, and modern techno..there wouldn’t be much there! her opening number at the CMA’s , I just laughed and couldn’t believe the off key notes and throwing form chairs around, she looked like a teen ager, that was having a fit, because her little boyfriend did her wrong??

Taylor isn’t Country! no way in God’s green earth, she has to earn her way!!! and put the Blood Sweat and Tears into this business, as well the others have and know what it’s like to get the number one award in the Business!

She doesn’t have anything but a lot of teen-agers buying her CD’s because they are 15 somethings them selfs!! Kenny gave her a hug none the less.. that shows what a great guy he truly is. sure would of liked to have been a fly on the walls, and heard the comments after the show! Ha! the parties afterwards, she couldn’t get in, because she’d get carded.. 2 more years before she can have a Beer for Gods sake!! Unbelievable!! Too Funny! so Sorry to Kenny, Keith, George, and Brad…add all the years these guys have put into this art and you’d have Taylor’s Mother even not born yet!!!Thats so WRONG! just terriably WRONG!…

Has his own Radio Station now, and Clothing line and a Rum soon to be marketed! and my comment to Destiny, hang in there we’ll see Taylor’s Destiny..

she needs to go get a voice coach.. even then.. the coach has their work cut out for them!! TAYLOR SWIFT is Teeny Bopper “POP” ” Fairy Princess’s didn’t grow up in TENNESSEE! ha! Anybody can buy a pair of Cowboy boots! doesn’t make you Country! NOPE! not in a heartbeat!.. I agree with that comment as well! wonder whats going to happen when the pages in the “DIARY” run out? buy another “DIARY”?! I quess!!:) Heaven Help Us! can’t wait till next year! Carrie and Miranda were robbed at the CMAs! I loved the look on Miranda’s face. That look of, “Why do I put myself through this.” Blake Shelton was preparing for his cosoling after the awards show. Carrie and Miranda write their songs too. And at least they can sing. I’d like to see Taylor sing “How great thou art” that Carrie belted out last year at the Grand ol opry. And her Cowboy Casanova live rocked on the CMAs! Now that we know half of Taylor’s high school graduating class of 2008, I’d like to know what life experience out of her diary she will draw from on her next album. And who can forget that butcher hack job by Taylor at the Rockefeller Center tree lighting show in 2007. The Silent Night version she sang certainly has never made it on a xmas CD. I’d rather hear fingernails on a chalk board. While Taylor is a gifted writer and guitar player, getting female vocalist puts the CMA to shame. Whatever happened to rednecks, biker chicks, and honky tonk themes missing from Taylor’s high school romance plots?

The first thing my son-in-law said to me the day after the CMA’s was who votes for these awards? He said I am boycotting Country Music. It is a sham that Taylor Swift won EOTY over Brad, Keith, George and Kenny and how could anyone vote for her for FVOTY. She isn’t even in the same league as those other ladies. I had no arguements that is for sure. because I’m just as confused as he is. No doubt Taylor has a talent for songwriting and she is a pretty good entertainer. To me though part of the entertaining is being able to sing and she doesn’t do that well at all. Album and video I think were deserved. I personally wanted Brad or Keith to win EOTY. I have seen them both multiple times and they put on great shows and have heard about Kenny’s and know they are high energy. As for Female Vocalist, I am a big Carrie fan but she did take some time off this year to work on her album, so I wasn’t shocked she didn’t win. All the other ladies, Miranda, Martina and Reba have toured and put out great music this year and deserved to win that Vocalist Award. In no way should Taylor have won for vocalist if that award is still supposed to stand for Vocal quality. To me her winning was a total sell-out and diminishes the status that award used to hold. We can only hope next year that the CMA voters will follow the criteria for each award and make better choices.

I like Taylor and think she has a place in country music BUT the obvious bad decisions by CMA to give her FVOTY and EOTY has not only upset the country faithful, but it is the reason why it upset the faithful fans that is of concern and that is: CMA has swept a lifetime of wonderful legendary country artist off to the side. It was said by Kenny that country is a family. Well it use to be that way but if cut throat dollars become the purpose rather than the music, that family will break up and become divided. The answer: give the artists what they deserve, regardless of the business plan. If you don’t, I fear that Taylor will pay a price she doesn’t deserve. Remember when country fans turned on the Dixie Chicks? Where were they this year? I think Taylor belongs in Country Music and given time to develop BUT DO NOT TREAT the beloved stars of country as yesterdays news and not recognize the contributions they are continuing to give and for those who are outstanding in any given year, you sure better award them. Don’t set up TS for a huge cold shoulder from the longtime fan base of country music. That is really not fair to her.

Linda, You are so right about Taylor Swift. Taylor’s opening song was so wrong for her to do. You call that creative sliding down a “stripper pole”. It rightly seems to me that that was confusing to the 13- 17 age range. I do not buy any of the talk that that was a hard song to sing and act around to. It was reckless not fearless to set that example for younger viewers and fans. Nothing wholesome about those actions.

I agree with you again, Linda. Your absolutely right about Carrie Underwood. She should really take a good look at what she is singing about. Putting boys down in her songs like there a disease. Carrie is portraying a “devil in disguise” HERSELF. She should have taken a better look at HERSELF before filming the video. Observe at how she is dressed and acting. The video and song may be perfect example’s of why she was not awarded anything. Now what kind of message is that SENDING especially to Carrie‘s younger fans?

Nashville’s so called TOP girls are coming across as LOOSE. There was nothing natural about those two performances on the CMA show. Anyone who believes this does not affect the way our younger population looks at these two artiste. Your absolutely WRONG. Take a good long look at those two performances again. Take the time to Imagine you are a 13- to 17 year old young lady and see what there young minds are thinking?

  • wanda says:

    Posted: November 15th, 2009 at 12:39 pm

They may come across loose in their performances but that is part of entertaining and putting on a show. You don’t see them on the news or in the tabloids being arrested, drinking or showing everything they have in public. They have respect for themselves and each other and for their other peers.

Taylor Swift is an embarassment to Country Music and to the CMA’s for celebrating someone who can’t sing a note!!! Maybe that’s why Country isn’t as popular as Pop Music since they award horrible singers and Pop Music doesn’t. Remember Milli Vinilli? Hopefully the Grand Ole Opry doesn’t allow teeny poppers vote on who they allow into their family!!!!! Someone in Country Music has to have a level of excellance….PLEASE!!

  • Snookie Lanson says:

    Posted: November 15th, 2009 at 1:15 pm

Mary: You seem to be confused about Pop music. Any commercialized Mainstream music is Pop, whether it be Rock, Hip Hip, and yes, even Country.

Now, how is Taylor Swift an embarassment to Country music? The only Country genre she is recognized in is Pop Country, which represents only one small part of the entire Country music scene. I never see her name listed on the True Country charts. Never see it listed on any of the Roots Country charts. Even the fastest growing genre out there right now…Americana… doesn’t recognize her music.

If you’re embarassed by the Country music you choose to listen to, and need to find a level of excellence, maybe you need to look for your Country music elsewhere. Ever heard of Western Swing, Red Dirt Country, Texas Country, or Outlaw Country? Ever hear of Gene Watson, Ryan Bingham, Corb Lund, Miss Leslie, or Hot Club of Cowtown? Listen to some of these Country artists, and you’ll forget all about Taylor Swift and the CMA’s.

  • smittybebad says:

Looking and acting loose is not a real good reputation for anyone. The reality of all this is Taylor and Carrie both used poor judgment with there creativity. Since them both are known for the younger fans and viewers. Try telling hundreds of teenage girls that this is all fake. It’s just acting and it’s all phony. Not very professional at all on there part. There acting in performances like those is all the more reason why these types of Videos should be aired on MTV and VH1 and not CMT or GMC. I think this could lead to parents feeling as though Taylor and Carrie are not sending good wholesome family entertainment values to there teenage fans. As far as Taylor and Carrie not being spotted in the public for wrong doing. Time will tell there very young yet.

How could Darius Rucker be a new Artist when he has already made millions as lead singer for Blow Fish.

Who came up with the theme of Carrie Underwoods video
“Cowboy Casanova” Why didnt she name the song Roaring
“20s Casanova”. That is what the video looks like. To me it looked like the same dance routine done in the video “Nothing Better To Do” just different constumes and setting. Dont get me wrong I think Carrie has the greatest
    voice in Country music today.

How can someone that does not have a singing voice win as
many awards as Taylor Swift. Everytime she comes on the
radio I change stations. She is not in the same league as
Carrie, or Reba, or Faith Hill, or Miranda, or Jennifer Nettles, or Miley Cyrus and I can go on and on. I do give her props for her ability to write songs. Kudos

Think about it … 99% of the people posting on the blogs say that she didn’t deserve to win and that she couldn’t sing her way out of a paper bag.

Tin2bears and timcum, You don’t have to know how to sing to win a Pop Music awards. Record sales, radio spins, concert and marketing revenue win awards in Pop Country. Edudcate yourselves. Also your opinion may be she’s not in the same league as CU, RM, FH, ML, or JN, but the FACT is they are all in the same genre of music. Pop Country. Hootie and the Blowfish were a Pop Rock band, Rucker is now a Pop Country act. That’s how. Please educate yourselves.

I tried about 30 times to post a message but none of them went through. Alison, maybe you should tell CMT to fix their web site!

What I was trying to say was that Taylor may be in the same genre of music as CU, RM, FH, ML, or JN, but if she can’t sing without having her voice studio enhanced then she shouldn’t be winning awards for being the best female vocalist.

I know my opinion won’t change anything but at least I can control who I spend my money on and it won’t be Taylor. She may fool some people but she can’t fool me.
