This had to be the most pathetic Country Music Awards show to date. Who ever picked the winners must be on crack. To put taylor Swift in the same catagory as the rest of the talent for Female vocalist of the year, was downright unreal. Not only does her songs stink, she can’t carry a tune in a bucket. That was the most pathetic opening of a show I have ever seen. If she wants to roll around the floor like brittany spears, then maybe she should go to the pop charts. That was pittiful. Unbelieveable, and to top it off give her entertainer of the year, pass the drugs your takin. What a joke!!!!! oh, loved the fake crying she did too, LOL

Did anyone who is posting here see Taylor Swift in concert? I saw her in Vegas and she was amazing. I have also been to a Keith Urban and Brad Paisley conert, both good, but Taylor’s concert was better. This was not a fan voted event. I think they got it right. Her concerts are selling out for a reason. But, do not take my word for it, go to one of her concerts and judge for yourself. The atomosphere and energy in the crowd along with her performance is incredible.

I will never watch another country music awards show ever again…. I now truly believe it is all about the money and not the talent. The women in that category can sing circles around her!! And what the heck does Keith Urban have to do to take home some of these awards…. He is the most talented guy in country music and consistently gets overlooked. I agree with everyone on here that feels that Taylor Swift can not sing- her voice is so immature sounding!! She sings very badly live- I think some of her songs are cute but she doesn’t hold a candle vocally to anyone really that was on that stage!! I will give her Album of the year, cause it has sold the most. But she does not have a better voice, nor comparable for that matter, to Carrie, Reba, Martina, or Miranda. And as for Entertainer, it goes to ANYONE of those guys over her, I’d prefer Kenny, but I would have been happy with anyone but her. Her song choices probably aided in her winning female vocalist of the year. Besides Carrie Underwood, there is no other female vocalist who has been able to consistently top the charts. This was a recording year and not a performing year for Carrie which left the door wide open for Taylor to take the award. Reba and Martina can both sing, but the songs they choose do not have the chart topping tendencies that Taylor Swift’s songs do. Her looks did not hurt, but if looks are all that matter, then Kristy Lee Cook would still be signed to a record deal.

EOTY? Her opening rocked the house and Taylor showed that when it comes to a dominating stage presence she is without peer.
Vocalist? She’s the one singing all those songs that people are loving! Tell you what, I would LOVE to hear some of these GREAT vocalists I keep hearing about just TRY to tackle “Forever and Always” (especially running around like Taylor does) or “15″ or “Breathe” or “White Horse”. Reba and Faith probably could, but the rest of them .. doubtful.

Well I am glad to see that I have an enormous amount of company. I have been to a Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney and several Keith Urban concerts. NO ONE HOLDS A CANDLE TO KEITH URBAN!! He is an amazing entertainer, singer, guitarist and writer. I was just disgusted at the out come of the show last night. I have been a Country Music fan for years and I am ashamed that the Country Music voters have allowed money and the phenomenum of the latest teen craze mar the integrity of the Country music genre. Taylor Swift is cute, but SHE CANNOT SING!! I have ten 13 to 20 yr. old grandchildren who all were very happy to see her get all the wins she did. NOT BECAUSE SHE IS COUNTRY, but as a slap in the face to Country Music. None of them are Country fans, listen to Country radio, buy Country music or go to country concerts. Three of them attended the Taylor Swift concert I was at, the only reason I went, and they were all very dissappointed in her live performance. But she is the latest teen fad, the it of the moment and that is all that age group needs or finds important. Further more they all agree that she is not much of a singer, or entertainer, but the guys think she is cute and the girls would love to be her. Taylors speech for her Best Album award spoke volumns. She said herself that the album was her Diary. The Country Music voters gave this tremendous award to an album full of the diary drama of a teen age girl. Shame, shame on all of you!! The show was a disgusting and embarrassing sellout and a turning of their backs on the truly talented. THE BIG LOSER LAST NIGHT WAS TALENT, AND THE BIG WINNER WAS THE DOLLAR.

Well, I’m of the same opinion as everyone else. Taylor Swift is coming into her own as a songwriter and perhaps she puts on a good show (I can’t say as I have never been). However, she is NO “vocalist.” Carrie Underwood, hands down, is the best “vocalist” in that category. What does it say when the “opening act” wins over the actual headliners. Nuff said.

Music Video of the Year-’Love Story’ is such a good & well put together video. I love it.
Musical Event-One of my all time favorite collaborations! I knew they would win & it’s very well deserved.
Album-I loved each album nominated! Fearless is a great album though & I can listen to every track & not get tired of it.
Single of the Year-I love ‘I Run to You’ & Lady Antebellum but I’m disappointed that one of my favorite songs of all time, ‘Then’ by Brad Paisley didn’t win.
Song of the Year-’In Color’ is a good song & I love the message, but it’s not my favorite. Once again, I wish ‘Then’ had won.
Musician of the Year-I don’t know much about the musicians, although I do know Dann Huff works with a lot of stars & is well known. That’s cool that Mac McAnally won.
Duo of the Year-I love Sugarland & I’m so happy for them! They really deserve it. Their speech was awesome.
Group of the Year-I’m a little suprised Rascal Flatts didn’t win but I love Lady Antebellum. I feel like Rascal Flatts gets snubbed by the CMAs. Why didn’t they perform?
New Artist-Darius Rucker is awesome & really deserves it! I loved his acceptance speech!
Male Vocalist-All of the guys were very well deserving & it could have gone to any of them. Brad is awesome though & I’m really happy for him.
Female Vocalist-I’m a big Taylor Swift fan but if we’re going off just vocals, Martina deserves to win every year. She is, in my opinion, one of the best vocalists in any genre.
Entertainer-I didn’t know who would win (I knew it wouldn’t be George Strait though) but everyone else is so deserving. I’m so happy for Taylor Swift though! That’s such an awesome achievement. It doesn’t matter how long she’s been around, its Entertainer of the YEAR & she’s had an amazing year!

I am glad I’m not alone in how disappointed we all are in the CMA awards. Taylor Swift does not deserve all the awards she received. She does not even compare to the other artists nominated in those categories. Let her release songs about real life instead of fairy tale stories. Princesses and teenage life-I can not even relate to. Maybe then I would possibly consider her an actual country singer. These two men are true artists that play amazing guitar and Keith even plays the piano. And their shows consist of more than just skipping around the stage and flipping hair. I hope someone at the CMA is reading these posts. The CMAs have gone the way of all the pop award shows. The opening number was awful. Taylor can’t sing anyway, and she was writhing around & humping the floor like Britney Spears. I did not expect that from her and thought she had more class. The little girls they had around her while she was singing was annoying. Apparently, the only demographic in the world that matters to the CMAs is the 13 to 20 something group because that’s obviously their target audience. Kenny Chesney’s performance was awful and off key as well and DM didn’t help any as he’s no great vocalist either! Jason Aldean just looks ridiculous with those 2 loop earrings, what’s he trying to be: a pirate or a girl? Sorry, IMHO earrings are NOT for men anyway, but particularly not male country singers!
Kudos to the class acts like Reba, George, Jamey & Kid, B&D, Miranda, Sugarland & Darius. Why Keith Urban didn’t perform is beyond me. I think Zac Brown should have gotten the award for best new artist. Darius is NOT a new artist even though he may be new to Nashville, so I have mixed feelings about it even though I like his music. I just think it was a “token” award.

A TRUE award show should focus on the type of music it is awarding, and not fall out of that category.
My father was also a true cowboy and he along with all the greats that are gone are rolling all together in their graves. What a shame!!!Country is dying!

I am a not a big fan of country music, but I watch the CMA’s every year. I was just as baffled as the rest of you all that Taylor Swift won Entertainer of the Year. We can all thank Kanye West for this big boost in her career. I am very sure that if he did not act a damn fool at the MTV VMA’s, she would have been in her seat the entire night. I do agree that she does right great songs, but her voice is weak. I have always thought that from day one. I was at this year’s CMAFest and this is the truth, when Swift came on a lot of people in our section got up and went to the snackbars. That did not happen with the other performers. Taylor Swift cannot sing live.She sounds horrible.You can make anybody sound good in a studio with studio magic or autotune rappers use.She didn’t deserve to win any of those awards.I think most of her CD sales were made by 4 to 14 year old teenagers.Also she made it on many television shows after Kanye West did what he did.I think they all felt sorry for Taylor and maybe this was Country Musics way to get back at Kanye.She is no vocalist and a terrible singer.She sounds good on her CD’s because of studio magic.Without it she is not even a good singer.How she won any of those awards is beyond me.If she was not pretty and lets say over weight would she still be as popular.No and for her to win best female vocalist is a joke.Tell me Taylor Fans do you really think she sounds as good as Reba or Martina.If so you are tone deaf.Im glad Im not alone in my opinion.I thought for sure Keith Urban or any of the other nominees would or should have beaten Taylor for Entertainer Of The Year.I was shocked that she was even in that category.She got alot of attention for what Kanye West did but don’t punish the real country music singers that sings circles around Taylor.Enough said:The girl cannot sing or dance but can do good at flipping her hair back.Im disgusted.

WEll said, again, BobC, a true country fan who understands the crap that is out today, not all crap, just not classics. We can take country music back, but it will be hard. First they classify Taylor Swift a country artist, then all the little tweens go and buy her cd’s and wa…la.. she win awards, so it seems like its all about the $$$, talent doesn’t matter. I only purchase and go to concerts that benefit Brooks & Dunn, Miranda, Reba, Garth & Trish. Johnny Cash and Waylon are my favorites, that is TRUE country. The only thing we can hope for is that Taylor Swift will just be a temporary craze and we can have our CMA award show back, the way it was meant to be!

Nope, not me. I come here for the entertainment. I get a kick out of all the whiney and complaining Pop Country “fans”. They don’t seem to understand what commercial Country music is about, even though that’s the format they listen to. Taylor is right where she is, because her fan base put her there. As long as all the promo and exposure keeps generating record sales, she’s going to be right there, and keep winning all the awards. Not a hard concept to understand.
I figure if you don’t like it, don’t listen to it. That’s why I find me some REAL Country music to listen to. Listen to any James Hand, Dale Watson, Ryan Bingham or Miss Leslie lately? Now that’s Country music that doesn’t go pop, when the guitar strings are hit.

Ok, all of you, or at least 80% of you, need to relax a little. Is this really going to affect your life terribly? I get that you don’t agree with the vocalist of the year award, because, technically speaking, Reba, Martina, and certainly Carrie are all better. I’ll bet that Taylor would even agree with you. I think that maybe the board got all caught up in the excitement of Taylor’s hugely successful year. Three awards would have certainly sufficed, and it would have also kept most of you happy. I am a huge fan of all of these ladies, but I don’t begrudge Taylor her success. Shame on any of you for doing so. I don’t think that she has ever done anything to shame herself, on or off stage. She is an excellent role model for the younger generation. She deserves every bit of her success and then some.

I would have voted for her too, not because she is the best singer and she is not, but because she is my favorite singer the one I listen to the most. I think you and anyone who had a chance to vote would vote for who you like to listen to the most and it might not be the technically best singer. Im sure we could have a computer program to tell us who is the most in tune and had the most power in there voice, Is that what music is about?

I could not remain silent. You are missing the whole point here, The problem isn’t so much that Taylor has a
problem with live performances. Forget all of those comments, the girl is extremely talented and sounds great
on her cd’s etc. The problem here just doesn’t involve
Taylor Swift it is a number of artist who have no business
being called “Country”. Taylor swift should be at the top of the pop charts. Taylor isn’t alone how about Rascal Flatts, very talented great performers, tell me what is country about their music. Kenny Chesney, another great performer, he is more like Jimmy Buffet Lite than Country.
Keith Urban, tell me which of his songs is even closely related to country music. In my opinion all of those I have mentioned chose the country music genre because they felt there was less competition. In my area there are only two radio stations that call themselves country and yet a ton of stations for all other genres. I have been a fan of Country Music since the 50’s and I know what is country music and what is not. If we were talking about the Peoples Choice Awards here I would probably vote for all the artist I have metioned here as some of the best pop artist or cross-over artist out there, but not country. We need to create another genre. You have to understand the feelings of so many of us traditional country music fans when we see our favorite artist being overlooked and not getting air time on what few country radio stations are out there. I’ve said my piece, I hope I didn’t offend anyone. Bottom line, yes I agree Taylor Swift if a very talented young lady. My only complaint here is that when I tune in to one of the two country music radio stations in my area I want to here country music. Please don’t come back at me with comments such as well this in the new country. Please, true country music is country period. Get these artist into the genre in which they belong let me enjoy real country artists and I will be right there with you supporting the artists I have mentioned.

The day of calling Country music just Country, are long past. Ever hear of Western Swing, Texas Country, Red Dirt Country, Alt. Country, Outlaw Country, Bluegrass, Newgrass, or True Country, just to name a few? Ever listen to any artists in the Americana format?
If you have, then you certainly should know about artists like Gene Watson, Ryan Bingham, Cord Lund, Miss Leslie, Dale Watson, James Hand, Guy Clark, Patty Loveless, Sam Bush, Tom Russell, Chip Taylor, Hot Club of Cowtown, and Chris Knight, just to throw out a few names. Commercial Pop Country is just one, small, segment of the total Counry music scene. It has its place, and doesn’t need another description. Most people already don’t understand its current moniker for crying out loud. Why confuse the masses even more. All these artists you mentioned are right where they’re suppose to be.

Some of these people would be so much better off, if they’d just pay attention, instead of coming here to complain about what they don’t like about the commercialized part of the genre.
If you like some of these suggestions, and want to hear more, the Americana Music Association radio airplay charts will give you many more names to take a gaze at. Hope you are as surprised as I was, when I first started looking for music that was more Traditional/Roots orientated.

a few days ago he told me how much he enjoys Outlaw Country that he listens to on Sirius Radio. My only problem with that is I don’t want to have to pay to listen to radio. Again, thanks for helping me out and hopefully

Today’s Americana/Roots music covers much ground. You say you miss the old country sound? There are NEW artists today that are keeping that tradition alive too. Not only are there the NEW cutting edge Rock sound of Red Dirt Music, or Alt.Country, but did you know there are artists today that sound like artists of the 40’s, 50′, 60’s etc? Dozens of them. Snookie mentioned a few in his blog such as Dale Watson, Miss Leslie and Her Jukejointers, James Hand, and Hot Club of Cowtown. You may want to check out Wayne Hancock, Roger Wallace, and Jolie Holliday too. If this is what is sometimes called “Too Country” for you, I could suggest some Rockin’ Red Dirt for you too.

Great awards show!!… but where was Dierks Bentley? Oh, and why all the fuss over Darius Hooty Rucker? I’m sick of the white guilt feeling do-gooders fawning all over this pseudo-country singer.. If I want to see some decadent rap singer, I will watch that trash that signs it… It’s bad enough anyone voted for him, for anything, but when he strutted up there (in true to form proud-to-be-black fashion), I nearly puked.
