Eight Minutes With Kellie Pickler

Posted: November 6th, 2009 at 2:31 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Kellie PicklerThat's all the time she had, but I wasn't going to let that stop me from asking Kellie Pickler every single question I had about her appearance this Sunday (Nov. 8) on ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. And then some. Luckily, I talk fast and she talks even faster. She called me from Nashville, and we jammed as many Qs and as we could into our allotted time.

CMT.com: What was it like telling the Terpenning family they were getting a new house?
Pickler: It was one of the most beautiful things. That family is so deserving, so it was such a blessing. The whole show is about embracing one another and coming together. One of the most emotional parts was seeing 200 people marching down the street to come and help.

What was more fun: the demolition or the building?
Demo day! I like to break things. I don't have a lot of anger, but being able to do whatever you want -- like punching holes in the walls -- was great. I loved busting out the toilet with a sledgehammer.

How'd you learn to be so handy around the house?
My grandpa was an electrician, so I'd go on jobs with him when I was little. I'm very hands-on. I could wire your house and hook up your thermostat.

Random question time: What's with the brown hair?
I just thought it'd be fun to try something different, you know, because it's fall. I'll probably go back to blonde after the CMAs.

And what's your favorite song on Carrie Underwood's new album?
"Someday When I Stop Loving You." I love how real it is and how it showcases her soft, beautiful vocals. Great pipes on that one.

If she can only sing, and stop changing her looks so much.

I know. I don’t care if she can sing or not either. Look at her rack! Remember when her handlers dressed her up to look like a drunk Bette Davis? That was funny Do it again.

If you ever get the chance to meet this young lady in person you would see how sincere she is. Gorgeous in looks and personality. Why do you make such remarks about someone you’ve never met. If she was a mean hearted person then I wonder what she would have to say about some of you!!!

If she only sings that’s fine with me since I love her singing but there’s so much more to Kellie. Sunday on Extreme Makeover Home Edition we will see her singing and compassion for people in need. The people who waste time hating can learn a lesson.

I gotta agree with Big Mike. Who cares if Pickler can sing or not. That’s not relevant. What’s relevant is her “rack,” et cetera. That is why she is a star.

At fist I thought that was a bad thing but now I realize its a good thing.
That’s why I’m not hating anymore. I say, more power to her! If she can turn her rack into stardom, then she deserves credit for it.

And lets face it, Pickler’s rack is far more interesting than any Merle Haggard or George Jones song.

Go Kellie and Keep looking hot.

I’m a fan of vocal talent so I care if Kellie can sing and she does very well, in fact she’s a better vocalist than most stars. Her great vocals and songs are why I’m a Kellie fan, and she has many thousands of female fans who don’t care about her “rack.” Kellie’s album and concert reviews didn’t mention her physical assets, they raved about her great music and vocals. She sang better and wrote better songs than most people on Idol including the winner of her season. That’s why she’s sold more music than most Idols and country stars. Even the often harsh on mainstream country reviewers at The 9513 said Kellie nailed the vocal on her current single, Didn’t You Know How Much I Loved You. I’m surprised and it’s a shame she isn’t nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year because she’s at least as good of a vocalist as most and better than some who were nominated.

Kellie is also just a wonderful person overall and a great ambassador for country music. Extreme Makeover Home Edition is a very popular show so Kellie will bring more new fans into country like she does every time she sings on Idol, Ellen, and other big shows.

How nice of Kellie to twitter about Carrie’s new album and song! How many stars do that and Kellie is the country artist with the 3rd highest number of followers on twitter.

The rack is fake.I love her soul, her humor, her naivette and her genuine niceness. She’s nice to look at but that only lasts a second before you realize she’s really nice to have on stage her singing is excellent.Though I have issues with her high nasal notes.Still she’s really entertaining.I luv her.I’ll be watching Sunday.

Will be watching Sunday Night, Can’t wait to see and hear Kellie sing. Hope she sings one of her Ballads, because Kellie does ballads better then anyone. Love her music.

I do agree with OldGoat34 that just a rack isn’t going to cut it. So i take back my earlier comments. You gotta have the looks, but also the personality, the stuff like that. And a decent voice and decent songs don’t hurt either.

Sheila - don’t worry. They dog most of the contemporary country artist that are female. They seem to believe if they sing contemporary country music and are female, they must be famous for something other than singing.

countryfan - it was nice of Kellie to have something nice to say about Carrie’s work. These girls support each other and are friends. Carrie recently was asked what was on her i-pod and she went off about how great Miranda’s new album was and she wouldn’t take a free copy. She wanted to purchase one. So, fans make a bigger deal out of the “competition” than the artists do. Wasn’t it just last year, Pickler, Swift and Underwood were all at a hockey game together. And, we all know that Kellie and Taylor are BFF’s.

If people want to critique music they don’t like, that’s cool and relevant. Personal attacks are irrelevant and childish.

Oh puhleeeeeze Ben, I think you have it turned the other way around. I like Kellie, Taylor, and Carrie, but those 2 blow Taylor away in terms of keeping in tune and singing other than monotone. I do appreciate though how good she is to fans and having young fun.

I saw the Extreme Makeover. Kellie Pickler was awesome. She really a lovely and caring person. She also one of the most beloved American Idol alum. Kellie we love you, you’re gorgeous and can’t wait for your next single and hopefully a new album next year.

I would call that performance extreme acting! Couldn’t even hear kellie’s voice not strong enough. They cut her off and in the middle of the performance.
We have to give her credit for her acting, and goofy personality!

  • countryiscool says:

    Posted: November 10th, 2009 at 3:50 pm

I think the performance part was more for the shows benefit, not the airing. What was seen (aired) in front of the camera probably wasn’t as much as what was actually seen/
heard behind the cameras. I loved Kellie though and look forward to ANY show she is on.

And now that youve helped them they are in a home that can keep them warm and safe

i’m a little worried about kellie, she has been on the stage now for 4 yrs,and still dosen’t have a million seller yet, these are hard facts, if you don’t bring in the bucks nashville has a history of forgetting your name taylor was a great help for kellie on her new song but that only lasted for a shot while until it burn out,she is hanging on threats to keep her face in the public eye.if only taylor could teach her or bring her on board with her since she is a good friend and all.No i’m worried that kellie will be riding off into the sunset like so many other want a bee’s i give her until next year at this time and by guess is she still won’t be on the cma awards,as much as i care for her to make it i don’t think she has a chance unless taylor or carrie bail her out to keep her on stage.
