The Other Records Taylor Swift Has Broken
There's been much talk lately about the fact that Taylor Swift just broke the record set by Nickelback for having an album stay on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart the longest time during this decade. Good for her. Nickelback was hard to beat because their All the Right Reasons had the staying power to remain on the chart for 156 weeks. But Swift's self-titled debut album has now been on it for 157 weeks, so she wins. But I tend to look at things through only country music glasses, so I wanted to know what country album records she beat. So, according to Billboard, here goes: Shania Twain came the closest to Swift when her 1997 album, Come on Over, was on the chart for 151 weeks. And Carrie Underwood was on for 137 weeks with Some Hearts. And the Dixie Chicks, who I never thought anyone could ever beat, stayed on the charts for 134 weeks with Wide Open Spaces. Other noncountry albums have enjoyed similar success during this decade. And, of course, Pink Floyd's 1973 album, Dark Side of the Moon, holds the all-time record with 741 consecutive weeks on the chart.

What I meant to say is that Taylor Swifts album was out of the top 30 on billboard for 2 years so it hung around the lower part.
Shania’s COO album was in the top 10 for 3 years on billboard. It had a much,much, much bigger impact.
That album of Shania’s sold 40 million worldwide alone.
Nowadays it is so easy for albums to hang around the top 200 with myspace,facebook and the internet to keep you out there. So who cares if Taylor Swifts album stays in the top 200 for another year even. It is situated way down past #50 and has made little impact when you compare it to an icon making album like Shania’s whose stayed in the top 10 for 3 years.

How about Shania Twain who is the biggest selling country female of alltime and has sold 85 million worldwide and holds all the sales records for female country woman.
Including biggest female album of alltime, only artist in history with 3 diamond albums in a row and having the most #1 positions on a country ablum chart than any country album in history.
Taylor Swift is just trying to copy Shania and has tried to follow her. Shania broke down barriers and was hated by nashville and made it easy for newer artists to come along and have success.
Nobody comes close to Shania’s impact all over the world.
She also holds the record of biggest selling female album in the world globally with her Come On Over album selling over 39 million worldwide alone.

I don’t know why everybody on these posts bother to argue with each other, knowning that every debate is going to come to a stalemate, Some people fancy some artists and some people don’t, Taylor is very successful right now and honestly its not just young kids that see it, or she wouldn’t have gotten this far to begin with , I mean this is NASHVILLE we’re talking about, and she did fly under the radar for awhile. No she doesn’t have the strongest diva voice, but when it’s just her and her guitar theres something really unique about that kid. Her music will grow as she gets older. George Jones I saw him in one of her videos promoting “Fearless” And I grew up listening to him, Loretta, Conway, June, and Johnny. Im actually proud of the accomplishments she’s made so far and only in 19 years of life pretty impressive and Im also happy for Carrie Underwood showing that she’s more than American Idol. They all deserve what they have just like everyone is deserved to have their opinion, but to sit behind a screen and argue over it I find highly ridculious.

All over the world she set records that will never be touched and she remains a global icon.
I sure hope she makes a new album soon. We need true icons and megastars like Shania to comeback.
As far as Taylor Swift. I know Taylor’s idol is Shania so I hope Taylor sticks around for awhile. I don’t see anything special in her and she had a label put lots of money behind her and push her.
But good luck to her on continued success although the next new thing will come along next year.
I look forward to Shania’s return.Now that will be something and the most anticipated album in a long time.

I could list 200 sales records and records Shania TWain owns but Shania doesn’t brag about it or have her publicist make news about it.
And to the person who said 2010 when Taylors album comes out.
I think Taylor and everyone better hope the biggest selling country female of alltime(Shania Twain) doesn’t release in 2010 because Shania will get all the attention worldwide with her new release when she releases an album.
Shania is a legend and set the standard and holds all the big sales records for country females.
I think Taylor Swift is great for teenagers and pre teens but lets not get carried away. Without Shania Twain breaking down the doors and showing her how it is done then you wouldn’t even of heard of Taylor Swift.
So lets all get along and treat every artist with respect.
Taylor,carrie Underwood and many new artists are part of evolution of country music but they need to pay respect to the true legends like Shania who paved the way and set the standard that to this day has never been touched.

Some of these records have been around for years and years by well established artist. Tayor is still fairy new on the scene by comparison. Perry Shania wasn’t the only woman to help pave the way as you indicate, there were many women before her to pave the way for Shania.

There’s a lot of sour grapes here! Taylor will be around for a long time, unless she slips up like Britney Spears. I don’t see that happening. She has a bigger fanbase than just tweens so even if they change their flavor of the week, Taylor will still have the rest of us who remain loyal.
I’d like for Shania to come back, too. She’s the one that brought me to country music, and Taylor has picked where she left off. There’s no other country artist for which I would listen to country radio stations on a daily basis than Taylor Swift.

I just don’t get it. She is talking a song and not singing. It is awful to listen to. It all started with the Tim McGraw song and the sweetness of it. This is strictly marketing.
