Jamey Johnson Was Matthew McConaughey's 40th Birthday Gift
I had a fabulous 40th birthday party. But apparently, not quite as awesome as actor Matthew McConaughey's. He turned 40 Wednesday (Nov. 4) and used his MySpace blog to fill everyone in on his party: "I celebrated last night with a surprise performance by one of my favorite artists Jamey Johnson....there were some epic stories told, lot of laughs and definitely some roasting. Somehow! No blood or glass broken, and that's cus the gig was so organized by lady and we went 'til 4:30am." Which I'm sure will lead to even more epic stories told at his next big party. There was no word on what Johnson played, but I'm guessing he probably didn't sing "Happy Birthday." That wouldn't have been very outlaw of him. But the event must've given McConaughey a chance to reflect on all that's good in his life because he ended his blog with this bit of sage advice: "Remember, in good times and bad times, now times and all time, just keep livin." He must not be in a mowin'-down-the-roses stage of life yet.

I really think that Jamey is a hero to us in southern Illinois. The only reason I joined this site is to uphold his music. I’m not even sure anyone will read this, but here it goes. I live in south central Illinois and love our culture and heritage. Jamey sings of what life he has lived and what it has in store. We around here are tired of the Rscal Flatts country that is wrote by other people who never felt the song. WE WANT COUNTRY BACK! not reality television- country music television! But back to the basics- CMT has fallen to MTV the reality business which isn’t interested in countrty music abviously because of the reality shows! I want to see HANK, MERLE, DAVID, JAMEY, GEORGE, ALAN, AND BROOKS AND DUNN! Give it up cmt, people want their country back by god!

How long ago was that picture taken(above)? Have you seen this dude lately? Remember Joaquin Phoenix on the Letterman show? Johnson looks worse than that! He looks like some homeless guy. Nasty clothes and his hair doesn’t look like it’s been washed in a month! what’s the deal?

I’m having a hard time believing you’re 40 years old. You blog like a teenager.

lol@ Big Mike. I agree about that. I also agree that Johnson looks bad, and that’s not good.

Well, Jamey does look better in some of his older photos, but give him credit,, it’s not all about looks ,, the man can sing and its real” real country. I love him ,his songs are heartfelt. You can tell he’s lived them and you can relate to all of them. I kinda like his beard, looks unique. We all age with time and look different throughout our lives and who cares about looks anyway.
