Top 10 Tracks I'm Digging Right Now
Today is All Souls' Day. So at the early Mass this morning, my priest asked us all to help the faithful departed get through the pearly gates by praying for them. And pray we did. But as I was thinking about all the people in my life who are now resting in peace, I couldn't help but think of all the songs that seem to celebrate the mournful moments as well as the celebratory moments. So many seem to capture tragic loss, and so many are good at extolling the virtues of eternal life. Feel free to add to the list.
"Go Rest High on That Mountain," Vince Gill
"Who You'd Be Today," Kenny Chesney
"When I Get Where I'm Going," Brad Paisley
"Good Ride Cowboy," Garth Brooks
"My Old Friend," Tim McGraw
"Concrete Angel," Martina McBride
"Best I Ever Had," Gary Allan
"Will the Circle Be Unbroken," Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
"How Do I Live," LeAnn Rimes
"Just a Dream" Carrie Underwood

I haven’t heard Colin Raye’s version of Holes in Floor of Heaven” although I think he wrote the lyrics. Did Steve W. write the music? I like him both of them, not the song so much.
Others I’m listening to:
Blackhawk
Glen Campbell
Mac Davis
Kellie Pickler
Miranda Lambert
Jeff Bates
Joe Diffie

Vince Gill is amazing. Go Rest High On That Mountain is one of the best songs ever in my opinion.
Alison Bonaguro says:
I agree, Kevin. I start crying about five seconds into that one. And I love that Wariner song. Haven’t heard it in forever, but it always gets me. :(
Robin says:
Dan - That’s “Joe” Nichols, not “John”.
