Tim McGraw Answers Reader's Digest's Questions

Tim McGrawIf for no other reason, getting a flu shot is good for staying totally dialed in to all things country. Because while I was waiting for mine, I ran across this story in Reader's Digest and learned some new things about Tim McGraw. Like how he thinks his voice isn't all that special. ("I'm not a virtuoso. I just do it my way," he said.) And how he can't live without family, exercise and Italian food. He also talks about how good his wife Faith Hill is at making the traditional Southern Thanksgiving meal, how he sings "Hotel California" in the shower, how he watches a ton of football, how he might want to remake the football movie North Dallas Forty someday, that he cries during commercials because he's half Irish and, lastly, how one of his favorite times of day is bedtime because that's when he and Faith get into bed and breathe.

I know this is not the right blog for this information but I felt I had to say this. Tim’s first week CD sales were on 137,000 copies. That’s quite a chunk from the 325,000 copies of his 2007’s “Let It Go”. “Southern Voice arrival marks the lowest debut sales week for Tim Mcgraw EVER!

hailey - thanks for posting that info. It will be fun watching the McGraw maniacs trying to come up with all kinds of excuses why. Im sure its everyones fault (especially Curb’s) but Tim’s that his album sales are in the tank.

Actually I dont care one way or the other how many CDs he sells but its funny watching a few rabid mcgraw defenders foaming at the mouth. So thanks for the info.

I love Tim and his wife and I love the new album. I cant understand why the sales were so low. this is his best one. the economy is bad but this album is cheap, only $10 Yes it is a dark album, but these songs are worth listening to and this album is worth buying. Check Tim on the awards show nov 11th. you could be pleasantly surprised.

BB has Tim only selling 137,000 units. BB is the more accurate number.

Considering Tim had no support from his label or the country music industry on this CD release, he did pretty good - more than Toby’s latest or Brad’s latest and they had songs that radio played to death to advertise their CDs. Tim’s first week is only 2500 short of Toby’s 1st THREE weeks of sales. Numbers aside, this is a great CD, with many songs that actually make you think and that the average person can relate to.

I am disappointed in this gloomy CD. Nothing left to be said for it.

What’s interesting to me is, he puts out a CD with songs that actually make you think, provoke emotions not so commonly heard in maintream country music, and lyrics that touch on humanity, and people call it gloomy, and low. I guess he should just release the same ole love-song, diddy filled cd every time around, and never stretch his creative widths like Kenny, Keith, etc. Sure he could keep doing that and sell like hotcakes everytime, but I commend him for trying new things.

Just like his wife, Faith, has done. When Breathe came out she was ontop of the world. She took a chance on Cry, and it backfired. I’m sure Carrie Underwood’s camp took note of that, and will not let her stray away from her formula that seems to be working. And that’s too bad.

his sales were just as good as the others, it,s the times, not how good the person is. it is a great album and not the same old same crap that other are putting out.It is about life, that most people can relate to. JUST GLAD HE DOES NOT DO SONGS ABOUT TICKS OR SOME THING LIKE THAT.
