Stuck in Garth Brooks' Virtual Waiting Room

Posted: October 26th, 2009 at 5:32 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Garth BrooksFour hours. That's how long I waited in the Virtual Waiting Room for the slightest possibility of Garth Brooks tickets. And then, nothing. Not one ticket was available for the weekend I wanted to go see him at the Wynn Las Vegas. I'm not proud that I wasted half a day staring at a screen that promised, "This waiting room will automatically look for a slot on the Wynn Ticketing Web Site in 51 seconds." Then, "93 seconds." And then, "112 seconds." And so on. Then threatening me with this: "Attempting to refresh or navigate away from this page will compromise your ability to purchase tickets." When all this Garth-in-Vegas buzz started, it was being reported that the owner of the resort Steve Wynn was a big fan of Brooks. But didn't he realize that so were 5.4 million other people? (That's how many page views the Wynn Web site had the morning tickets went on sale.) The press release promised that the ticketing processes will be examined to ensure improved performance when future concerts are placed on sale. A little too late for me, but a nice gesture for fans looking to buy tickets for the next batch of shows.

Too bad you can’t give tickets as a gift. The purchaser will have to show ID & the credit card that was used to purchase.

I thought he said on CMT Insider that he’s going to be there for 5 years. He also said that his band or some of his band will show up at some of the shows but it won’t be announced ahead of time. It will just be a surprise. Trisha will also perform at some of the shows.

All the brokers will have to is pick up the tickets and then deliver them to the buyers.

Steve Wynn and Garth are working on replacing scalper/broker tickets. Check out the Wynn site for news.
