Kristofferson Keeps It "Closer to the Bone"
Kris Kristofferson's new video for "Closer to the Bone" isn't flashy. It isn't loud. It doesn't scream. He's not wearing flashy clothes or playing a diamond-studded guitar. Rather, his clothes are plain, his voice is scratchy and he's recording himself on an old cassette player he's been carrying in his suitcase. The video doesn't shine with excitement but rather is illuminated with soul. He's reflecting on his life as he sits, singing and playing harmonica in a dismal hotel room. But listen to the words. This video isn't about the picture, but about the message. Like he sings, everything is sweeter closer to the bone.

What a wonderful video. This is pure country with the heart and soul. As I sit here, I am reminded that life can have ups and downs but as one gets older, we think of what is. Kris has done this without all the glitz and glamor that sometimes goes into some of the country videos that are now showing. This is true country, one that makes one sit and ponder. You have hit the mark on this one Whitney.
