"I Run to You" Explains My Marathon Training
On a cold but clear Ohio morning, I completed the full Columbus Marathon on Sunday (Oct. 18), logging 26.2 miles in just under four hours and 18 minutes. And I just heard you say, "Are you crazy?!" It's hard to explain why that distance appeals to me, since it takes about 16 weeks of diligent workouts to be able to run at that level, plus it essentially kills my beloved night life. So why do it? Several lines in Lady Antebellum's "I Run to You" might help explain it. Here's one: "I run from pessimists." Indeed, it's hard to stay in a bad mood after a long, sweaty run. Also: "This world keeps spinning faster/To a new disaster." Time on the trail always helps me sort things out in my head. I still haven't determined if I run my life or if it's running me, but I can say that even though I've already misplaced my finisher's medal, that exhilaration of crossing the finish line is sticking with me.

Congrats on finishing - especially as I know how cold it was in Columbus this last Sunday.
