Phil Vassar Brings the Heat to IEBA Convention
I ventured out of the office yesterday (Oct. 13) to check out a couple of acts performing for talent buyers and concert promoters at the IEBA (International Entertainment Buyers Association) convention in downtown Nashville. Fortunately, I was able to catch the charming Joey & Rory as well as a quick, delightful performance by Michelle Branch. However, this was my first time to actually witness Phil Vassar's vigor and energy on stage.
He began his spirited six-song set with "Carlene" in his half-sit, half-stand performance as he pounded the piano keys and soon led a sing-along to "Love Is a Beautiful Thing." Noting the sleepy crowd, he warmed them up with "Six Pack Summer" and sang to their hearts with "Last Day of My Life." Like a soda can shaken one too many times, Vassar jumped on top of his piano and later off the stage to get closer to his crowd. Nearly tripping over a light on his way back up, he appropriately continued his set with "I'm Alright" and finished with a standing ovation and crowd-pleaser, "Another Day in Paradise."
All I know is that the lackadaisical crowd that entered the ballroom left as an adrenaline-rushed, boisterous bunch. And if they hit the lower Broadway honky-tonks with the same momentum, their heads must still pounding -- much like the way Vassar leaves those piano keys badly bruised.

Joe says:
Phil deserves to be a superstar in the music business.
I have seen him 3 or 4 times and got to meet him twice and he is so nice, and is up there with Kenny Chesney and Garth with his energetic stage presence.
I hope he comes out with another hit song soon
Ms. Feathers says:
Phil deserves more recognition, more exposure and a few awards. Would love to see him tour with Keith Urban - probably the only guy touring now who could match Phil in aerobic performance!
