Carrie Underwood's Country Song About Mama
At Billboard's Web site, you can now hear Carrie Underwood's "Mama's Song" -- well, not the whole thing. But enough to get you even more excited for Underwood's upcoming album, Play On. I'm guessing this tune will be the follow-up single after "Cowboy Casanova" has run its course. This one, though, could not be more different. While "Casanova" has Underwood bashing this smarmy character who breaks hearts and all that, this new song has her thanking her mom for teaching her well, especially when it comes to finding the right guy. It's hard to tell from this little clip, but the guy she is talking about in this song may be God. See what you think. She sings that he is the answer to her mom's prayers, he is good, so good, and that he makes promises he keeps, and he's never gonna leave. So either she's singing about God or some other really really awesome guy.

Typical CMT focusing on one or two artists and ignoring the rest. So Carrie has a 30 second clip from her new album, that deserves a big news item, where is the news on Tim Mcgraw, CMT. Thought Alison was a fan of Tim guess not.
Tim”s complete album is on AOL. You can hear the complete album over there today. Course CMT no news on that. Excellent songs an if you don’t cry when listening to Love You Goodbye, you are not human. Great songs like If I Died Today and I’m Only Jesus, awesome songs that most cookie cutter artists wouldn’t have the guts to record.
More Tim news this evening he will be doing a mini concert at the Ed Sullivan Theater that will be broadcast online on Letterman’s site and many country radio stations.
Tim is only the FOURTH artist to ever perform at the famous Ed Sullivan Theater to be broadcast live online. He is the ONLY country artist to ever do it. He will also appear on the actual Letterman show tonight and Friday.
Guess this is not good enough news for CMT for today but a 30 second clip is.

Nobody is saying they dislike Carrie, this is NOT about favorite artists. It is about being FAIR in reporting the NEWS on ALL the artists even if you don’t like them.
There is NOWHERE on CMT any news about Tim’s new album being on AOL to listen to today, the whole album. Not a word, nothing about his TWO appearances on Letterman today.
Sure you can be fair and admit that that is wrong, Tim’s album comes out before Carrie, and his whole album and TV shows today is just as important as a 30 second clip of a song.
JUST PLAY FAIR CMT, THAT IS ALL THE FANS WANT.

She’s actually singing about her boyfriend Mike Fisher. She co-wrote it with AI Judge Kara. At the CMT Invitation Only event she talked about the writing session for this song and mentioned how Kara talked to her about her love life and if she found anyone. Carrie blushed about the past conversation and mentioned how she told Kara yes and that he’s amazing, etc. Then she went on to say how they didn’t want to make this too much like the pre-marriage kinda song since there’s so many like that. That’s why she is singing it to her mother and not her father. It’s about a letting go kind of song for a parent. The full song is beautiful.

I loved the clip of Mama’s Song. I loved Carrie’s vocals on it. Her voice is clear and full of emotion and the message is pure and simple as she talks to her Mom. I know she has a deep faith but I think if this song is about her BF–she is in love. Can’t wait to hear the full song. It will be beautiful. Love Cowboy Casanova also. I think this just may be her best album yet. Will be waiting in line to buy it November 3rd–and many more for Christmas gifts.

Mahaila-I know how you feel. For a long time there was NOTHING about Carrie on CMT. It was and still is mostly about 1 artist and I happen to not like that artist’s music and it is very annoying. I believe CMT should recognize any artist that has gained recognition for something, etc..BUT not to the extent of pushing that artist in our face all the time. There are a lot of great artists that would like recognition or just mentioned occasionally. I love the articles about Carrie and I know the fans of other artists would like to hear about their favorites also. Maybe in the future?????????????

As just one author amongst dozens of CMT.com bloggers, I don’t think it’s fair to hold Alison accountable for the “fairness” with which CMT or CMT.com covers all artists. I was under the impression that these are opinion blogs and are not CMT-produced, per se. Maybe I’m wrong, I don’t know. Anyway, I think Alison does a great job and she is usually very conversant with all current and topical issues related to country music.

Thanks so much for the blog. Mama’s Song is awesome. You can buy it now on itunes. I bought it a little while ago. If I understand it correctly, if you buy it now..it will count toward the purchase of her new album coming out November 3rd! I can’t hardly wait to hear more from Play On. It is going to be a great album! I think Carrie is going to show a lot of diversity in this album. She has written with a lot of different writers. Mama’s Song is a beautiful song and it available on itunes now, but unfortunately I can’t down load itunes. I have listened full version of that song on Youtube and it made me tears, a simple lyric but very touching. Carrie crystal clear voice gives a soul and emotions on that song. I just heard the full version of Mama’s Song and bought it on Itunes. Carrie’s Vocals are amazing and so full of emotion—-and—–I think she is in love with her hockey player. I love how she can sing an upbeat song and then a ballad. As one artist said, that is on one of her songs on the album, when she is recording she sounds like the record before the record comes out (meaning she can sing live and sound as good as on the record). Better believe I will be buying her album!!!

Hey Alison since you are connected to CMT and they don’t respond to emails, tell your employee if they are going to leak Tim’s album least they could do is have the release date right. it does NOT come out the 27th but the 20th, always has.
Is this going to be corrected are not. People come to this site and see they can hear the album and now will think it comes out the 27th. Why does NO OTHER site have the info wrong just CMT.

Tim’s accomplishments speak for themselves and by the time Carrie career is over she’ll go down as one of the best country female vocalist ever. Having said that in my opinion Talor really is not all that very average vocals….. in my opinion

It would make sense.
They’re extremely cute together and I love that she’s dating a Canadian :)
