Jack Ingram Charms Kids ... But Not One Dad

Jack Ingram Ah, elementary school career day. It can be a blessing and a curse. And as one guy in Texas just found out, when your kids go to school with Jack Ingram's kids, it's probably always going to be a curse. How can you possibly one up Ingram? He saunters into career day with a guitar, sings a sweet lullaby he wrote just for his daughter, then makes up a song right then and there with the words the kids in class gave him. So Kirk Coburn decided to write about what went down at his house after his little girl watched Ingram at this year's career day. "What could be the coolest person to come into her class as a SIX year old? A doctor (admirable), an attorney (hmmm, yeah), a SWAT team member (only if they brought the guns), a fireman (the trucks are cool), a policeman (we have that one, too). No, none of these were as cool as JACK INGRAM, country rock star." Coburn goes on to say, "Thanks, JACK. No really, you screwed me on this one." And, "I am not even going to mention what the wives were saying."

“Get over yourself”? SJSoule, I think someone needs to explain to you what irony is. Do you take all jokes so literally?

As Brett Favre said to the Packer fans “get over it and move on”.
I wish my kids went to school with Jack’s!

Jack Ingram is the king of cool - period. Who would really want to follow him at a career day? The dad is obviously a big fan of Jack’s and is stating the obvious.

I’ll bet Jack doesn’t miss the “fans” that resent his success. Jack is the real deal. He is under-rated, refreshing, original, and charismatic. KOKO, Jack!

Agree with CARLA and Mark Forrest and everyone else who
loves Jack Ingram’s music. He is COOL and a rockin guitar guy. Just took him a lil bit longer to get the success he so deserves. He is good to his fans.

Wish my career day would have been this much fun! Can you imagine? Jack Ingram writing a song in the classroom from words the kids gave him? I love Jack and his music and how great he is with everyone he meets. He is always so responsive to his fans, young and old!!

I thought he was great on ‘Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader’. I’ve never followed his music but will check it out. He appears to present himself and his music very well. Nice young man . . .

I agree about him being a sellout. How else could you win best “new” artist by the acm after being around for 10 years and a about a dozen albums released? His music used to be good, now he’s joined the rest of the sellouts like Pat Green, Randy Rogers Band, Eli Young Band

You call working hard and doing what you love a sellout? Uncle Leo — You are so wrong. If you had the opportunity to meet Jack, you would eat your words. He is a great guy and very talented. His music deserves to be heard everywhere. His Live shows are terrific.

Uncle Leo sure hope there’s someone left in TX for you to listen to. Maybe you should be proud that the TX scene has produced so many artists that the rest of the country is finally recognizing.

Jack is, and always was fantastic. I love his old stuff and new stuff and am really tired of all you has-been, left behind, “sell-out” mongers constantly criticizing a man for following “HIS” dream, not yours. If you don’t like what hes doing now, go find someone else to listen to. Grow up.
