Stop and Smell the Roses at Nashville Music Garden

Nashville Music GardenMy father once bought a Dolly Parton rose that he planted in his backyard flower garden. Each time the rose blooms, he takes a picture of it and sends it to me. Yes, Dolly Parton has her own rose. But she's not the only one. So does LeAnn Rimes, Minnie Pearl, Patsy Cline, Shania Twain, Brenda Lee and many others. In fact, some roses and daylilies are even named for songs like "Rocky Top," "Love Me Tender," "Mountain Music" and "Happy Trails" to name a few. A few of us from CMT.com headed over to the beautiful Hall of Fame Park on Tuesday (Sept. 29) for the dedication of the Nashville Music Garden, where all of these specially named flowers now harmoniously live together.

Barbara Mandrell, Jimmy Dickens, Jeffrey Steele, Donna Fargo, Alabama's Jeff Cook, and of course, Ms. "Rose-Garden" herself, Lynn Anderson, even came out for the dedication. I heard Anderson tell the crowd, "Truly, three minutes of music about a rose changed my life." So the next time you're in Nashville, please don't forget to stop and smell the roses at the Nashville Music Garden, across from the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. And if you find the one that has the biggest blooms, is the color of lipstick, likes hot weather and smells of lots of perfume, you've found my favorite one ;)

The booming of flowers is just like country music. With all the different sounds and lyrics, it is like a country garden. The Music Hall of Fame made a wonderful parallel with music and a garden. Awe, the sight and sounds of Nashville are calling me……..
