All The Ways I'm Just Like Miranda Lambert
I realize I am hardly the heat-packing tough-chick rocker that Miranda Lambert is. Yet somehow, when I listen to her new album Revolution, I instantly have everything in common with her.
Like when she's singing about wishing she lived in an Airstream with homemade curtains just like a gypsy, I think, "So do I." I wouldn't, but that doesn't mean I don't wish I could.
And when "Dead Flowers" comes on, I am so with her on the sentiment that sometimes guys are just so clueless, saying things like "Man, ain't it such a nice day?" when we are clearly living in a hurricane.
Then I completely get her point when she says she gets stronger when she's on her second drink. Who doesn't, really? I also agree that Jesus drinks wine, so we'd get along just fine, on "Heart Like Mine."
After the sparse acoustic intro on "The House That Built Me," I feel like I'm right there with Lambert when she goes to the house she grew up in and asks for a tour. I've done that and agree wholeheartedly that if you could just come in, you swear you'll leave and will take nothing more than a memory.
Then there's her haunting sin song. There have been a few sins in my past, I am not saying whose, but they were worthy of repentance. So amen to the line about "what feels good hurts in the end" on "Sin for a Sin."
And while I don't think anyone is addicted to me, I do like the idea of being someone's bad habit the way she sings about it in "Me and Your Cigarettes."
Then, for me, the biggest tune of all is "Only Prettier." I didn't grow up in the South, but I've been to Tennessee enough to know what it means when some bitch says, "Bless your heart." This song makes me feel like I'm in ninth grade all over again. I just wish I could go back there now and tell all the stuck-up girls that I'll keep drinking, you keep getting skinnier, and I'm just like you -- only prettier.

Jennifer says:
I bought the album this morning and really disappointed. A lot of yelling and screaming and no good melodies or anything that will sound good on radio! I guess that’s why her singles never reach #1! Last time I buy one of her albums!
Terri says:
I don’t like her music - her new single White Liar is awful!
Manda says:
Love her new CD IMO better than her first two. I’m a big fan. As far as some not likeing it to each their own.I believe not everyone will like this record or her for that matter. That is okay. Everyone has the right to their own oppinion/ I just wish some people could be a little more mature when they say they don’t like something. Just because someone doesn’t/ doesn’t mean someone else doesn’t. You don’t have to put that person down.
Alison W says:
WHAT! I can’t believe anyone that likes country music doesn’t like this album. I think most of the melodies on this album are extremely unique and refreshing. I’m in love with Airstream Song, Maintain the Pain, Virginia Bluebell, Me and your Cigarettes, and The House that Built Me (which got to me so much that I cried for 2 hours upon hearing for the first time)
Carla J says:
Miranda’s new album is fantastic. She is real, and every woman has felt these emotions before. I love it!
Jennifer says:
I think the reason some people may not like Miranda’s album is because it is REAL country. Not that sugar-coated pop music you hear a lot on country radio these days. I think her new album is great, and I’m so glad that she’s not giving in and going the pop route just to gain more radio air play. Her new single White Liar is doing very well actually, and is almost in the top 30 already, this may be another big hit for her.
Derrik says:
Her new album is awesome! I love every song on the album.
Great Job Miranda!!!
mahaila says:
The album getting amazing reviews everywhere. They are calling it the best album of 2009 already.
Both her albums have went platinum with only one top ten single and no number ones. That speaks volumes about the quality of her work. Radio play and number ones does NOT equal quality.
Let me say right now the two best female albums of the year that will be on all the critics year end list will be Miranda and Patty’s.
CJ says:
Mirands’s album is awesome. I love her voice and how she sings what she feels. She was on Letterman last night and she was fantastic.
Dan says:
Great album.
JP says:
This album is AWESOME! All of her albums are FAB! She is real and her songs reflect that. There isn’t one song on any of her albums that I can’t relate to in some way. She is not a conformist and for that I love her! To all the Ran haters “BLESS YOUR HEARTS”!!!
Cari says:
AMEN! I love Miranda and believe she is a great representation of a true southern woman! Sweet and beautiful, but tough as dirt when she has to be! Great new album and I think we all see a little of ourselves in pieces of every song. It makes me believe that there is music out there that still sends a message and hasnt become so commercialized you don’t identify with the artist. All of my friends and I love her…she really makes a statement the right way. She is a true talent in what sometimes seems like a world of facades. See you in VEGAS Ran!!!

mahaila hit the nail on the head.
Dan Poltrictzky says:
Outstanding Album!! I love Mirand and have always loved her since the start. Revolution is just awesome!
Nancy says:
The album is absolute perfection in the form of a CD. I LOVE IT!!!
countryiscool says:
I haven’t heard Ran’s new stuff but I look forward to it, she is very talented, and I’ve liked her since NS. Funny how no one else out of that show has made it big like her. Love her & Blake together too.
Redmaz says:
To be fair and balanced Jennifer, Lambert’s music is being played on Pop radio. Pop Country radio is playing her music. Whether she reaches the pinacle of Roots Counry radio remains to be seen. However, of all the Pop acts, she has the most potential of reaching the exclusive Roots radio market. That will be decided by the Roots Music fans.
Cassie says:
Great hmamer of Thor, that is powerfully helpful!
