Five new music videos -- from veteran artists and newcomers -- are the latest to hit the screening room for the CMT New Video Evaluation Team. Trace Adkins gets thoughtful. Rosanne Cash's boots are moving on. Lynyrd Skynyrd remembers a wonderful place. Veronica Ballestrini rides the bus and looks for someone. Ash Bowers wants to get out of town.
Artist: Trace Adkins
Video: "All I Ask for Anymore"
Director: Deaton Flanigen
Trace Adkins' newest single is perhaps the most affecting of his career. It's a very impassioned prayer for what he now knows is most important in his life.
Panelists' comments: "Very sweet." "That's a real tear-jerker!" "He looks great."
Artist: Rosanne Cash
Video: "I'm Movin' On"
Director: DJ Mendel
Rosanne Cash's first single from her new album, The List, is an updated remake of Hank Snow's song "I'm Movin' On," with a completely new arrangement. The video features boots and the city.
Panelists' comments: "She sounds just as good today as ever." "I wish Rosanne would do Studio 330 Sessions." "This is from that list of 100 songs her father gave her?" "Yeah."
Artist: Lynyrd Skynyrd
Video: "Simple Life
Director: Pater Zavadil
Lynyrd Skynyrd re-emerges from two more band tragedies with a new album and a new single. The song and the video are very much a fond remembrance of small-town life.
Panelists' comments: "I like it." "This is a very good-looking video." "Skynyrd forever!"
Artist: Veronica Ballestrini
Video: "Out There Somewhere"
Director: Glenn Sweitzer
Veronica Ballestrini is an 18-yaer-old aspiring singer from Waterford, Conn. Her initial splash on MySpace has drawn attention, especially from the New York Times.
Panelists' comments: "Sounds very pop." "She looks and sounds very young." "Cute. Both her and the song."
Artist: Ash Bowers
Video: "Stuck"
Director: Curt Apanovich
Ash Bowers is a new artist from Jackson, Tenn., with his debut single on Stoney Creek Records. Here, he's walking the highway, singing about being held down by a small town and a small-time job.
Panelists' comments: "He sounds a little like Jason Aldean." "Nice song." "That does sound country."
Consensus: Trace Adkins' "All I Ask for Anymore" debuted Monday (Sept. 28) on CMT in medium rotation.

That’s not the Skynyrd I know. After watching this video, it’s official Lynyrd Skynyrd is dead. Long live Lynyrd Skynyrd. Let the band rest in peace. It’s over, but I’m thankful for the music they left us.

Doug says:
Skynyrd’s new album is great. The best post RVZ to date. The fact is Skynyrd’s studio albums have always had a mixture of country and rock and sometimes includes something from way the hell back in the holler. County music today just caught up with LS. Several tracks from the new album will go to rock stations, several will go to country stations, and several may go to both. Very good stuff.
