What Will Ellen DeGeneres Make of American Idol?
I love The Ellen DeGeneres Show. And I love American Idol. So now that my worlds are colliding with DeGeneres joining the ranks as an AI judge, I should be pretty happy, right? But I don't know how I feel yet. Because I think Paula Abdul left some pretty big shoes to fill. She had the background and the experience in the music business to recognize real talent. DeGeneres is funny, for sure, so that will definitely add an element of sarcasm which will put Simon Cowell in his place. And Kara DioGuardi told E! that DeGeneres "loves the show, she loves music, and she's a star. You've got to be a star to win the show. Ellen can really talk about what it's like to get on a stage and command the respect of the audience -- make them remember you and want to see more of you," DioGuardi said. "I'm telling you, there are so many times kids come in and they can sing, but we don't get any vibe from them. They're not stars. It's so important." If that's truly DeGeneres' job as a judge -- to be on vibe-watch -- then she will likely do very well.

That is so bad for the new show with Kara on, somebody can sign and you don’t give him/her a chance, because he/she doesn’t have the vib? This is so unfair, was Clay Akin born a star? So Adam Lambert was born with Charisma, but he is killing his own stardom with too much make up. Allan will add on the bias, because a girl doesn’t wear pants or her skirt is so short. Gosh, we have witness a lot of true talents who progress with the show like Kelly Clarkson and Chris Allan. A lots of the kids now will have no Paula to fight for them. While we feel sad for someone got voted out too early, instead of Paula’s tears, we will see Ellen make a stupid joke “you nailed it, nowt beat it” and then She will get up and do her stupid dance! Really funny!

Ellen is hysterical I would rather watch her than Simon or American Idol. Kara is uptight. Ellen has a good heart on her show so dont think she will be mean. She has a huge fan base. Ellen on her show is great not stupid. Same back to you!

They have three judges in the music business. Prior to Kara, they had three judges in the music business. Why not have one “music fan” on the panel? There’s something to be added from that point of view. Wasn’t too keen about it at first because she’s not an expert, but maybe that’s what they need. Someone who’s not an expert that just likes what they like and doesn’t feel the need to be mean to the one’s she doesn’t like so much. In the end, that’s the kind of person that votes. People who just like what they like.

Shania is going to be a “guest” judge, as will many others. I love Ellen & look forward to her role in IDOL. I’m with Robin, I think Ellen is more like the “audience” vote, rather than the critique the other 3 give, I only like Simon.

Never watched the show. So do they bring in a bunch of guest judges, who end up judging these singers differently every week?

i never watched anyway. She would be the reason why I would watch except for a few times I knew someone (celeb) would be on i like. Ellen is smart lets see how it goes before you judge. Her quick wit might put Simon in his place!

Ellen, when I heard you were going to take Paula A place I was so excited. You will be great. I will especially watch the new season now. They could not have picked a better judge.You will bring a new high for the show and some humor,just what they need. I am going to miss Paula, As far as Ellen I believe she will make the show funny. I personaly think simon is the best judge on there for he tell it like it is. But it is sad that Paula is no longer on AMERICAN IDOL.

I saw in the paper all Ellen’s demands. Ya right, she is not worth any thing more than what Paula had. Ellen is a embrassment to us real ladies. WHO PICKED THIS PERSON??????. I have watched this show since day one Kara picked the terrible song for the closing of the show firer her now this what does she know about music? Now I can say I wish Paula was back!

I don’t have a problem with Ellen being an ‘Idol’ Judge as long as she takes it seriously. I think it’s a great idea to have a “fan” point of view and I love Ellen, but no jokes like she did on SYTYCD please.What I’d really like is for them to get rid of Kara. Can’t stand her!
