Darius Rucker Has Never Seen an Ugly Golf Course
I don't blame this writer. Golf must be pretty boring to talk about, so when you're interviewing Darius Rucker, even if it's for PGATOUR.com, the conversation should always start with the music. So he asks Rucker about people calling him Hootie, to which Rucker replies, "With the country thing, I'm starting to break away from the Hootie references, but the thing to me is, I don't care. I'm just happy people still know who I am." And they talk about Rucker's tour with Rascal Flatts and the golfing they managed to fit in this summer. "It's just been awesome. One of the reasons I took on the tour was because I knew I could have a good time with [guitarist] Joe Don [Rooney]. We play a lot of golf," Rucker says. "My life on the road is being in the bus, and then from there I walk inside the amphitheater. When you play golf, you get to be outside. It doesn't matter where I'm playing, I always say I've never seen an ugly golf course because it gives me that chance to be outside." Then Rucker, who has a six handicap, says his dream foursome for golf would be him, Tiger Woods, Dr. Martin Luther King and Jesus. Sounds like a country song to me.

It is always exciting when a new artist “makes it”…glad to see Darius is having such a good time with his venture into Country music…the feeling is quite mutual it would seem for a vast majority of folks. It helps that he seems to be such a pleasant person and genuinely happy to be a part of this dynamic…he displays an air of humility, which is sorely lacking in the majority of the POPULACE, let alone the so-called celebrity ilk.
Congratulations Darius on your success! Congratulations to the Country Music community for your graciousness in welcoming someone who is “different”…you cannot imagine how many “myths” you have dispelled…I, for one, and very happy with the direction.
