Boys Like Girls Like Taylor Swift

Posted: September 3rd, 2009 at 11:24 am  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Boys Like GirlsWill everyone please stop collaborating? I cannot keep all these hook ups straight. Like how this pop-rock band I've never heard of, Boys Like Girls, has recently enlisted Taylor Swift's vocal help for their new tune, "Two Is Better Than One," from an album that comes out Tuesday (Sept. 8). MTV.com is reporting that this song is different from Boys Like Girls' usual sound but that the band thinks fans will dig it. "I don't think we were worried about how our fans would react to that collaboration. I think Taylor's such a versatile artist, she can go from country to pop to rock to anywhere," said BLG's lead singer Martin Johnson, adding that "We just thought she was the right voice and the right person for that song." Who knows? It could make BLG fans out of Swift fans. But it will most certainly make Swift fans out of BLG fans.

Their collaboration is amazing. I love Two is Better Than One. It is one of the best “rock” love songs I have heard in a long time. Martin from Boys Like Girls and Taylor’s voice sound so amazing together. You can find the song at Boys Like Girls myspace.

So there is Pop Rock but not Pop Country? I though you claimed Pop is an individual genre of music? More disrespect coming from “Alison”. You’re doing this quite often now..

    That’s a great song Alison.

I’ve often wished that Taylor would try those slower easier to sing love songs that her competitors sing so well. Taylor shows she is up there with the best of them!

Boys Like Girls are pretty smart marketers & will pick up a lot of extra sales with Taylor featured on their album.

Yep, little boys like Taylor. They’re abundant on her board.

I’m a big boy and an older boy and a Grand-father and I’m not afraid to admit that I love Taylor Swifts music. Taylor out did herself with this song and I might add to thetruefan I’m a member of Taylor’s board and there are no little boys on Taylor’s board, only little minds like yours with insignificant post like yours.

Ahhh, I love those Taylor fans and their fantasy world. It’s so entertaining.

Love both Taylor and BLG’s but -I think both need to stay in their genre. taylor needs to bring in fans not bring her fans to rock, though i happen to like both of them and that song. But taylor needs -in my opinion to remind pop goers that she is a country artist and country is cool too. Too many people listen to her and say she ain’t really country. Heck, she has more banjo that kenny chesney. Keith Urban and Chesney have at least the same sound without twang and are just as eligible. The difference, she is also played on pop radio and the other two are not. Anyways, good song, but lets keep the genres apart!

Sam, I think the “too many people” are actually saying she can’t sing. I don’t care squat what genre she belongs in, it’s the voice that needs to go.

hi howe you get love sore.

  • Redmaz says:

    Posted: September 4th, 2009 at 8:58 am

To “Sam”, you seem to be confused. Pop is not an individual genre of music. Pop is an industry consisting of many genres of music including Country. Anyone who listens to and are a fan of Swift, Chesney, Urban are Pop music fans, including yourself. Swift, Urban, and Chesney are all Pop acts. I hope this clears up any confusion on your part. Thanks..

I’m not sure who you think you are, but coming from someone like you, that doesn’t mean much. However I agree that facts can be painful. Are you actually saying Pop Music is an individual genre of Music and there is no such thing as Pop Country or Pop Rock? Are you claiming Urban, Swift, or Chesney are Roots artists? Ignore me all you want, but everytime you read my posts you will learn something. That’s always a good thing. If you can ever pull yourself away from all your hate, and prove me wrong, I will never post on this blog again. I would love the challenge, and quite frankly look forward to it. I am not one of these kids you like to argue with. You seem to be one of the most hateful people on this board. Did you ever think some people might actually want to learn something about music instead of just spewing hate? maybe Sam is interested in learning something about music. Now just go back to what you do best, hating Taylor Swift….

  • thetruefan says:

    Posted: September 4th, 2009 at 11:54 am

Redmaz, I’ll say this once, so pay attention. I don’t give a rat’s behind what you call it. If I like it, that’s ok. Pizza Hut is marketed to masses, but it’s good and I like it. Does that mean we should boycott Pizza Hut? Of course not. I don’t care if you call it Pop, Rock, AC, Roots, Americana, bluegrass or country. If the music is good, I like it. Don’t go arguing individual genres because quite frankly it doesn’t matter. Good music is good music, whether it’s marketed to billions or recorded in a garage for friends only. Get over your obnoxious self.

..Spoken like a true slave to Mainstream Pop Culture. Just the fact you used the term “AMERICANA” is a giant step forward for you. Now go back to hating on Taylor Swift, unles you’re boycotting her;) It’s all you do. If you ever said anything only once would be a miracle. I can’t imagine that happenning.

Redmaz, you do have a way with words. I’d be interested to hear Your own opinion on the song that was originally posted here. I don’t know if you like Swift or dislike her, it seems you mostly are here to give your view on music classification. As for me, the song “Two is Better Than One” doesn’t sound much different in production and genre than most of the songs played on pop-country radio. I enjoyed the song and their voices blend well together, as well as emoting sufficiently to sell the song.

Looks like another hit for Taylor! Everything she does goes straight to the top.

i think honestly what makes great muysic is the words and truth and i admire taylor because she doesnt lean on other writers opinions and experiances she relies on her own and thats great! im a writer myself and it takes alot to take what your feeling put it on paper anmd share it. its what i call letting people in and giving advise and gain of understanding and this is 3 amazing things cuz once you do it it feels great and achieving.

Aaaah. Boys Like Girls and Taylor Swift. a colaboration of true vocal geniuses in the industry. BLG may not yet be well known, but that’s all because they’ve only released one album in 4years. They are rising to the top as we speak. Two is better than one will be released before winter,so we can judge the success of this song

    Dear Allison,
Please get out from under that rock you are living in and widen your horizons by listening to more than country music.
BLG has made it on to the top 40 before, and are not some obscure indie/underground band.
I love taylor and think BLG isn’t that great of a band
But this collab is gonna be amazing :)
