Allison Moorer Will Make Next Album in Nashville
If you're a big fan of Allison Moorer's early work, you'll be pleased to know that she's coming back to Nashville at the end of the year to make a new album with producer R.S. Field. She played one of the new songs during her Nashville concert on Monday (opening for husband Steve Earle) and it could have fit snugly on Alabama Song, The Hardest Part or Miss Fortune. Those are some of my favorite albums ever, so I'm eager to hear more. I also enjoyed hearing her harmonize with her sister, Shelby Lynne, who just happened to be in town. Their tough-girl demeanors fall apart when they're around each other and they sounded magnificent on "Brand New Heartache," which was one of their childhood favorites. I don't know when I'll get to hear Moorer again, since she and Earle live in New York City now, so here's a career playlist to hold me over. I like the ups and downs at the end.
"Alabama Song"
"All Aboard"
"Can't Get There From Here"
"Cold in California"
"The Duel"
"Gettin' Somewhere"
"Goin' Down" (live)
"The Hardest Part"
"Is It Worth It"
"Mockingbird"
"No Next Time"
"No Place for a Heart"
"Send Down an Angel"
"A Soft Place to Fall"
"Steal the Sun"
"Tumbling Down"
"Up This High"
"When Will You Ever Come Down"
