From Faith Hill to Miley Cyrus: VH1 Divas Returns
When you say diva, it's not always such a bad thing. Sure, there are the negative connotations: needy, bratty, spoiled. As in, "OMG. What a total diva." But then there's the Faith Hill kind of diva, as she appeared on the VH1 Divas special back in 2000. Look at her, with her blond Taylor Swift ringlets and her very low-cut, high-slit, blinged-out dress. And listen to that magnificent voice of hers on "Breathe." It's soft and pleading one second and all power belting the next. Even the backing band has to kind of stay out of the spotlight. She's that good. And now VH1 has even more of these classic VH1 Divas performances from 1998 to 2004 on their site. They are all very, very good. There's even a video of Hill from the year before, doing "This Kiss." Maybe it's just me, but this show makes me proud to be a woman. It's such a celebration of everything that makes women the better sex. So no wonder they are bringing the show back with divas like Miley Cyrus and Kelly Clarkson performing for a live show on Sept 17. Mark your calendars and set your DVRs.

Faith was and will always be a Shania wannabe.Now she finds herself competing for the younger, more popular country stars and is finding it’s a cruel business. She will never have a moment like that again in history. She better cherish it.

Jon is doing just fine, she just did two shows at the Hollywood Bowl, released a Christmas album that was the #2 best selling Christmas album in all of music last year. Sold 500,000 in two 1/2 months. She is doing great and enjoying being a mother to her children.

With artists like Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Whitney Houston, Donna Summer, and others appearing, there’s always been a pretty good variety of DIVAS on the show. But I just can’t see Miley Cyrus being lumped into that category with the rest of them.

Love Faith and the others Zach mentioned above. Whitney will be on GMA Sept. 2 and I can’t wait. Love that she is getting back in her game. I think Miley has a way to go yet to fall into the category of those mentioned above. Of course she is young and can probably attain that, however, I don’t know if she has the star power presence to succeed at it for all age groups. I could be wrong . . .
