Chris Young Thinks Inside the Box for New Video
After I watched Chris Young's video for "Getting' You Home," I immediately had to re-watch the end again. Yes, I was right the first time. This girl isn't upset at all that her romantic dinner was just put aside for pizza and a six-pack. Let me be clear. I'm never one to turn down pizza, especially if it's supreme, or a nice cold Blue Moon brewsky, but if I'm taking the time to paint my toes for Pete's sake, AND put on that little black dress, I really better be leaving the house, even if it is for Papa John's. I'm also quite fond of a relaxing bath by candlelight. But what's with her man lurking behind the door? The more I think about it, it's probably best these two hot and heavy lovebirds stayed at home -- for everyone's sake.

Chris Young’s video for “Gettin You Home” captures the romantically funny & playful side of an evening out on the town for all couples.
And it doesn’t matter if you get all glitzed up or not, the point is perfectly captured that you’re trully connected and content to just be with the person who matters the most…

First of all, congratulations to Chris Young for finally landing his first major (top 20) hit with this song. After three years of winning Nashville Star, I say it is about time! He sounds and looks great!
Second, I have to agree with Whitney Self on her review of the video. The actual title of the song is Gettin’ You Home The Black Dress Song. The first three words would imply that you actually went out somewhere on a date. During the three and a half minute video, the couple is at home, a 180 degree difference. Also, Young is spending most of his time singing to a door! Is he hoping that the door would take off its black dress? I wonder! I think that all involved with this video would have taken their time to read the lyrics of the song and actually made something to reflect those lyrics! I do agree it is a very sensual video, but again, it does not truly reflect what the songwriters were trying to convey!

I’ll admit that the concept of the video is not quite what I expected with the lyrics and title of “Gettin’ You Home” but I like how the video explores the playful side of anticpating getting ready for “date night”. Were they to have followed the lyrics verbatim, I expect it would have turned into a couple sitting at a restaurant table just making googly eyes at each other the entire time. :)
This video captures the pure sexiness of the song, but also makes it sensuous and fun. I like it.
Congrats to Chris Young on his top 20 song and a very likeable video.

I love Chris and have since he was on Nashville Star. I am so happy that he has his first Top 20 single with this song and am glad the video is fianlly here. The video isn’t what I pictured but it does capture the playfulnessof the song and I think he did a great job.
Kari says:
I personally love the video. Chris makes one GREAT leading man, that’s for sure. While it didn’t follow the exact precise script of the song, it still gets the point across quite effectively.
I think it’s romantic that he is singing to her behind the door and anticipating her walking out.
It’s sexy, playful and I personally love the thought that they never made it out of the house : )
Yay for Chris Young and the success of this wonderful song. Chris is one amazing vocalist and now it appears he can act as well. Bravo.
