Tim McGraw to Play ATV Charity Ride

Posted: August 4th, 2009 at 12:09 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Tim McGrawHalfway to Hazard's new single is titled "I Know Where Heaven Is," but I'm pretty sure I already know where heaven is: in the hills of Eastern Kentucky. That's where the second annual Halfway to Hazard Charity Trail Ride will be taking place on Aug. 22-23 -- and where Tim McGraw, Dierks Bentley, Danielle Peck and others will be performing to raise money for the Buckhorn Children's and Family Center in Crockettsville, Ky. Even NASCAR's Kyle Petty will reportedly be there. Day one (Aug. 22) will be filled with bluegrass music, then H2H and friends will take the stage in the evening. Then on Sunday (Aug. 23), you can catch a glimpse of guys like Randy Houser, James Otto and Keith Anderson during the ATV ride. If you go for the ATV ride, stay safe. And if you just go there for the music, enjoy.

I’ll throw this in, the Kentucky Headhunters will be performing a reunion concert for charity on august 21.

they were great country rockers. they’re coming together to help restore an old theatre in glasgow, kentucky.

    those guys are great.

Well my Mom’s family is from that area, and I lived down there most of my childhood. I talked to H2H last year, seems like my cousin was David’s liitle league coach, they hang with my cousin that is a State Trooper and my aunt that taught in the Hindman School district for 35 was David’s teacher one year.

This is small coal mining country as country as can be.

My uncle was the sherrif of Hazard part of my childhood. You come from down there you are in country.

BTW they had over 7000 last year without Tim. This is no big city, they are going to come out in droves you wouldn’t normal get a artist as big as Tim down there. Can’t wait.

I attended the event last year (flew in from Canada for it).
Halfway to Hazard are down to earth guys and true to their roots. They are not like some other artists who have forgotten where they came from. The Event was a success, without the big names of Dierks and Tim. Raised over 100,000 dollars for Buckhorn Children. I am proud to be a fan of Halfway to Hazard and am all booked in to attend this year as well.
I hope all of those who flood in just for Tim remember that it is in fact a CHARITY event and donate accordingly.
I can’t wait… Kentucky is a beautiful state and the people there are some of the nicest, sweetest I have ever met!!

These small towns are hurting and really don’t have the money to give away to such charities. I’m sure the outcome will not be what they expect. It’s family first and charities last these days.

I think that it is just great that such kind & caring people are willing to give so much to an organization that desires it so much

The event was a huge success. They over doubled the money they raised last year. It was a great concert and if you missed it, it was your loss. Chad and David are great people, they do think about the area from where they were raised. These two boys attended and sung at a funeral for a 12 year old boy that was killed the day of the concert. They could have told this family that they had other commitments. This is what I call dedication to their roots. There were also a few of the other singers that were here that done good deeds for the community, I will not disclose who or what they did, because they may want it to be unknown. All those that performed did a great job, and we hope to see them again next year.
