Kenny Chesney/Jessica Simpson Chat Offers Another Lesson in the Price of Fame
Kenny Chesney is a huge Joe Walsh fan, so I suspect he has a unique appreciation of the celebrity stereotypes Walsh parodies in his classic song, "Life's Been Good." While it's hard to have a lot of sympathy for people who have every material possession and perk at their fingertips, there's a hell of a tradeoff -- and that's the luxury of true freedom in their lives. While few of us will ever summon our private jet for transportation to our yacht on a secluded Caribbean island, we do have the freedom of anonymity (and total media apathy) to go to the mall or the grocery store without anyone paying any attention to us whatsoever. And we can live our lives without worrying about some nimrod drawing conclusions about casual conversations we have at a party. Believe it or not, the rich and the famous view anonymity as a valued commodity they can't buy.
This week, Kenny Chesney was placed in the unenviable position of having to defend a conversation he had with Jessica Simpson during a Fourth of July party. Word of their chat escalated into rumors that Simpson and Chesney were flirting with one another. I have no idea what their conversation was like -- and don't care -- and Chesney denies that any flirting was going on. Let's face it, though: When you're attending a party, you usually find yourself talking to a lot of people. After all, that's what parties are about, and it's rude to isolate yourself from the rest of the guests. As Chesney told People magazine, "The fact of the matter is I talked to a bunch of guests, hung out, had a good time." He also said, "I wonder if I wasn't famous if anyone would even care." Deep down inside, I'm sure he knows the answer to that question.

I wonder if his girlfriend Amy was at the party or if they’re still together? It seems that if she was at the party with him he would have mentioned it in the interview to prove even more that he wasn’t flirting with Jessica. I read an article a few weeks ago where they asked about his girlfriend and he said he didn’t want to talk about her. I wondered at the time if he wants to keep her out of the public eye or if they broke up. He has kept all his other girlfriends secret but he has mentioned Amy in every interview until recently. Whatever the case I hope he’s happy.

If his biggest problem is having some people saying he flirted when he didn’t I would say he has no problems. But celebrities think they are the universe so I’m sure he thought it was a big deal and needed a whiny response.

I think the reason he’s making a statement is that he doesn’t want people to think he was flirting with a friend’s girlfriend. That’s not a cool thing to do and Kenny wants to set the record straight that it didn’t happen.

What was “whiny” about his comment?? I am sure he felt it was a big deal because it was untrue and he is friends with Tony and would never move in on a friends girl. I think false accusations really get under his skin because he has been critized alot in the media. I don’t blame him for wanting to set the record straight. Nothing whiny about his comment, he just addressed the rumor and stated what happened from his perspective. From what I’ve always read and heard, Kenny is a stand-up guy and has always represented himself well in those type of situations and just wanted to set the record straight.

Kenny doesn’t defend every rumor that comes out is true. However, when someone prints something false he has the right to defend himself. Now people are criticizing and analyzing how and why he defended himself. Geez, give the guy a break.

We were there! Building our sandcastle right in front of the “party”. From our view, which was pretty close, it is just as Kenny said, “Friends hanging out having a good time”. No one seemed like they were flirting, mad, or upset! If the spectators would leave them alone and try to realize that they are there to relax and enjoy their vacation just as everyone else. Stories such as this would not appear on the tabloids. It was aggravating to us to see all the inconsiderate people who would stop and stare, aiming their cameras to get that “perfect shot” that would make it to the front page. It did! Hope you are happy! But we must defend all of the “celebrities” who were there just having fun like the rest of us.

He was super nice and even came over and told us that we had “the most awesome sandcastle he had ever seen”. He took pictures on his IPhone and gladly has his picture taken with our children. These people trying to make a big deal need to find somewhere else to hang out!

Chesney was dating Amy Colley, a 24 year old former Miss Tennessee USA. The two were introduced by a mutual friend, but they broke up on April 21, 2009.

On April 24 she wrote that she was excited to go to Texas the next week … the same week that Kenny played two shows in Texas. That was supposedly three days after Wikipedia reported that they broke up. She also said on June 24 that she was headed to Philly on Friday and Kenny played in Philadelphia on Saturday, June 27. Two days ago she was packing for 2 days at the beach and Kenny is playing today in Orange Beach AL, tomorrow in Jackson FL, and Saturday in Tampa FL. I don’t think the report on Wikipedia is correct at all. It sure sounds to me like they’re very together. She’s lucky that she has a job where she can take off and travel all over the country … and a rich boyfriend who can pay for it. Maybe he needs to marry that girl so she can quit working and be with him all the time.
