Toby Keith, Trace Adkins Provide Encore Worth Waiting For
If you put Toby Keith and Trace Adkins in a dark alley somewhere, that could very well be someone's worst nightmare. All 12-foot-9-inches of combined tough badass hillbilly staring down at you. But if you put them together onstage at the end of a country show, that's a much, much better idea. Apparently, Keith and Adkins have been wrapping their shows with an encore performance of "Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue (The Angry American)." Keith recently told the Palm Beach Post of Adkins, "We came from the same honky-tonk family." I'm a big fan of this trend of bringing the opening act back out at the end of the night to throw a little twist into the encore. For fans who like to leave early to beat the traffic, this might be just the thing to keep them around until the show's officially over.

The Hartford CT concert was just about the best Toby concert I have seen to date He came out onto the stage like gangbusters and never stopped!! What a show!!Loved the ending with Trace and him singing. The shower of red and white and blue crepe paper was the perfect finish! Can’t wait for the next concert in my area.
Sara says:
I saw them both in VA Beach on July 10. And they were both absolutely amazing! Trace had a black eye and he showed Toby when he sang “through our big black eye, man we lit up your world…”. They made a great pair. It was my 3rd time for both of them, unless you count when I saw Trace at the Opry (then it is 4 for Trace).
Pat says:
I saw them in Raleigh and they were both great - Toby is truly an amazing performer. And I was awed by the finale with the two of them on stage. If you get a chance to see them, you really should.

Went to the Mansfield concert — It was the BEST AND MOST AMAZING CONCERT I have EVER seen!! This pair should do it again…

Cannot wait to see Toby’s Tour this summer!! Really looking forward to this powerful performance with Toby & Trace. True Patriots, both of them.
Thanks Alison for posting this great blog for Toby and Trace.

saw the concert in Virginia Beach it really is America’s Toughest Tour with Toby and Trace and the opening act
Sean Patrick McGraw awesome show!!!!
ErinG says:
Saw the show in Charlotte, it was fantastic. From the opener Sean Patrick McGraw, to Trace to Toby, they were all great, the energy started with Sean P and just kept going. I don’t know who picked the opener, but smart choice, the 3 acts just flowed and they were all beyond great. I am hoping to go to see them again at Darien Lake, I only hope it is all 3 again.
Hilary Romaine says:
Alison,i agree, great tour!! but how could you leave out Sean Patrick McGraw???
What an amazing opening act, show him some love girl….

Saw Toby and Trace at the Comcast Center in MA. Lost my voice, lost my sunglasses and my cancles killed for three days. Twas my third time seeing Toby Keith live every time has been wicked pissa. My 18 year old daughter, who hates ountry music came witm me to the show and said the Big Dog kicked ass! Can’t wait for the 2010 tour. Good luck Toby with the tour in Europe.
Nicole says:
Of course Toby rocked it, he always does, and that new kid on the block Sean Patrick McGraw. Wow! I’ll take it!
Caleb Hagwood says:
I have seen Toby Keith and Trace Adkins before at both separate events. I attended the show in Raleigh on July 11th, and was very disappointed in Toby’s performance. It wasn’t as much the songs, but the volgar language he was using. For someone who claims to be a Christian, he certainly did not show it at his show. I do pray he will change his ways, and renew himself to CHRIST!
millie says:
I saw the concert at Blossom never miss a Toby concert, Trace did not come out at the end that would have been great, Toby again picked a great team starting with new comer Sean Patrick McGraw all three were awesome. I think Caleb should’nt worry Toby’s a patriot and a good Christian
Kaye says:
I am an older fan of Toby’s and like the humor and originality in his music. I especially liked the song he did with his daughter several years ago on an awards show. I always loved that song (senior moment- can’t think of the name of it) but think they sounded better than the original version. Any plans to sing more with your daughter?
Ann says:
I was in at the Mass show too, this was my 20th show and I was not disappointed!! Toby knows how to entertain, and entertain he does. 1st time for Trace and thought he put on a great show too! The Encore….priceless!!
Redmaz says:
Well, I can say one thing, and that is I don’t appreciate Keith using the the American Flag that I served my Country for as a cover for his Japanese guitar. Just so you know Keith, there a lot af people out there that don’t need to shove their Patriotism down peoples throat every chance they get to prove it. Way past time for you to get over yourself….and get rid of that guitar to while you’re at it Mister all American(sfip). The USA makes the best guitars in the world!
Michele B. says:
I have seen Toby before and it was an excellent show but him and Trace Adkins, fantastic. If they are coming to your town, you have to see this. They are both so talented, rock the house and boy oh boy, what they are hot!!

I’VE BEEN TO EVERY TOBY KEITH CONCERT IN CHARLOTTE, AND ONE IN WINSTON SALEM FOR THE PAST 7 YRS. (SINCE I STARTED LISTENING TO COUNTRY MUSIC.) EVEN TAKE MY 83 YR OLD MOM!!
TOBY PUTS ON A CONCERT LIKE NO ONE ELSE, ALWAYS SO ENTERTAINING AND ENERGETIC! AND JUST WHEN ONE THINKS HIS CONCERTS CAN’T GET ANY BETTER, THE NEXT YEAR TOPS THE YEAR B4.
LOVE YA TOBY

redmaz - once again showing what an idiot you are. Toby is a patriot and he does not have to prove anything. He is true to himself and he supports and respects those who serve the great U.S.A.
Robbin says:
I so enjoyed the show in West Palm and loved Toiby’s encore with trace it was a surprise and realy really good. No it was awesome. They fit
Redmaz says:
Idiot? Well…that’s not very nice;) Maybe you should read my post again Clem. I never said he wasn’t a patriot. I said I don’t appreciate what he’s doing with my flag. Please pay attention. Maybe you and Keith should learn some flag etiquette instead of flappin’ your gums. Just a thought. I have a few more, but they’re not very nice. Kind of like you.

I was at the Dallas show last night. He came out with a burst of energy and music that lasted almost two hours straight. He sounds so much better than on studio recordings. It was worth the wait, the rain storms, and saving for months for our tickets so we could sit center section. Being a fellow Boomer Sooner I loved hearing our song scattered through the opening bit. The patriotic ending and the joining of Trace Atkins in the finale is awesome!!! If you have a chance to see Toby Keith take it, it is very much worth it!
Cindy Wright-Graczyk says:
I SAW THEM BOTH IN CHARLOTTE NC. AND IN MICHIGAN. “WOW” WHAT A SHOW. YOU COULD NOT HAVE ASK FOR A BETTER ENDING TO A CONCERT. I HOPE THEY COME THROUGH MY TOWN AGAIN SOON.
SoSmallx08 says:
I like Toby’s guitar, I like his messages in his songs, and I like it how he is patriotic. I think he is an amazing artist. I cannot wait to go see him in concert next month. I love his new song “America Ride” It is so true lol.
kayla says:
AGREE with rockerbillie and SoSmallx08. Redmaz, you are the one that needs to wise up, that is not your flag. It belongs to all of us in the U.S.A. and I LOVE That Toby has it on his guitar. America, the proud and free. Toby and Trace Patriots red, white, blue and true.
Jeff says:
*Strumming on my guitar right now with the good ole U.S.A. flag on it too. Keep rockin the crowds Toby & Trace!

I was at the Mansfield MA show on 7/26/09. Toby put on another amazing show. Was my first time seeing Trace. His show was also great. But the ending with both of them singing “The Angry American” was just beyond words can say. The entire night was incredable. Toby sure knows how to make you want to come back for another show, and another and another. I look forward to seeing both of them at Darien Lake NY and Scranton PA in september.
Linda says:
Just saw Toby and Trace this weekend at Dallas and they were superb! I have seen Toby and at 5 of his Ally’s House Banquet’s in Oklahoma and he deserves everything he gets as he deserves it! He has such a big heart for our country all the way down to pediatric cancer patients. Trace was fantastic and together they blew the show away!! Go see it. It was worth the ticket’s price in GOLD!!
