Dierks Bentley Says Obama Quote Is Unreal
When Dierks Bentley found out President Obama had quoted him at the White House music series concert last night, he was pretty stunned. He told me, "That is so badass. Way awesome. To have the president of the United States quote you? It is unreal." This was right after Obama had said Bentley calls country music "the best shrink $15 can buy." And right before Bentley was about to take the stage at the Grand Ole Opry. It must've put a little spring in his step when he performed, knowing our country's movers and shakers were tossing his name around. He even took to his TwitterBerry to share it with his followers. Brad Paisley had Twittered before the White House show, too, saying, "Sure we'll play. what time? now where's your house again? 1600pennsylvania? got it. do you have a p.a?"

RRick says:
That’s really nice that Obama quoted Dierks Bentley. Its a refreshing change of pace from his usual favorite quotation: “from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs”…
Jordin Corrall says:
What a big honor to have the idiot ruining our country and destroying 230 plus years of hard work call you out. Way to go Dierks; maybe next it’ll be Natalie Maines.
fluffy says:
coming from obama , It doesn’t mean much ,just how much country music do you think he listens to , well maybe he listens to dierks , because the music dierks sings isn’t real country music anyway, all of dierks music sounds the same , it sounds as if the producers add new words to the beat , otherwise all his songs would sound the same
hotelmotel says:
Whether Obama is an idiot or not, whether he listens to country or couldn’t even name a Dierks Bentley song, I can understand why Dierks is happy.
Its not a big thing but I’m sure it made his day.
bkb says:
obama knows nothing, only to have the government control everthing, wonderful speaker and elegant has he has been called but knows only to spend our money.
Lee Ann says:
Well, it is obvious that President Obama has excellent taste in country music, and quoting Dierks shows he is also an intelligent man.
Hellenthal A. says:
thought this article was about Dierks not Obama. HE is a great pres and him listening to country makes him even better
Nicole says:
I’m sure it was an honor for Dierks. I don’t really care for Obama myself, but it would be an honor for anyone for the president to quote me.
I do disagree with one poster on here, you have no right to say that Dierks’ music isn’t ‘real’ country music and that all of his music sounds the same. If you ask me there is no such thing as ‘real’ country music anymore. I’m pretty sure you’re talking about ‘traditional’ country music such as Cash, Jennings but we can’t keep living in the past. Music’s going to change, so get over it. Oh and I’d love to see you do better than Dierks, the fact that he’s singing at the tributes for Alan and George should say a lot about what the critics and older people in the business think of Dierks and his music.
Squirmey says:
I’m sure that Dierks felt it was an honor, but I could care less what obama says!!
Redmaz says:
To Nicole…you say there is no such thing as real country music anymore? If that’s any kind of challenge, I’ll take you up on it. Just because you don’t know about all of today’s Country Music scene doesn’t mean it does not exist. In many ways Country Music is better than ever. I’ll be willing to discuss/debate this with you at any time. Thanks
Roger says:
Everybody chill out, why did this become a discussion on what is and isn’t country music? I’m a conservative and did not agree with Obama’s politics, but I (probably like Dierks) have a respect for the “office” of the President of the United States, and it’s just a neat thing if any President quoted you, period.
Goose says:
Wow. President Obama. Big deal. It’s a complete bluff in order to mend an already-broken bridge between his policies and the convictions of the country music community. Dierks, you’re better off without the president’s reference. You’re a better person who actually influences people whole-heartedly with the best interest of America in mind.
Leeann says:
I admire Dierks for admitting his excitement, since he knows full well that simply expressing it will get the scorn of typical country music fans, as evidenced on this thread.
It’s interesting that people who kept yelling that we should have supported George Bush simply because we should support the office of President are now singing a different tune, as I suspected they would. While I don’t like it, I respect that, because I never agreed with that line of crap anyway. Just as I didn’t think it was unpatriotic not to like GWB, I don’t think it’s unpatriotic not to like Obama. But I do think it’s ridiculous to hold the fact that an artist expresses excitement over the President quoting him against him. As much as Bush wasn’t my favorite president, I would have still been thrilled if he had quoted me at an innocuous event.
Emily says:
I am confused, what was the quote? was the quote ” Dierks Bentley says country music is the best skrink 15 dollars can buy”? or is the quote ” Country music is the best skrink 15 dollars can buy”?
catherine says:
How sad that if a country singer still has respect for the title of President of the United States, no matter who is in office, he gets this kind of country redneck response.
Jane says:
Dierks and President Obama doesn’t get any better than that.
Thanks President Obama for opening the White House to “We People”.
Awesome concert!
swazon says:
Awesome to be quoted by President Obama, Dierks! I quote you all the time! Often your lyrics translate better than my own words in matters of love and life. You are definately beyond the mainstream.
lynn rose says:
what songs did dierks sing for obama
Sergeant Rock says:
0bama thinks country fans are hateful rednecks clinging to their hate, guns and religion. Maybe while 0bama is on the campaign trail trying to find all ‘58′ states that he said he would visit 0bama will rethink his plan to destroy our country and turn the USA into a Marxist Utopia.
