Brad Paisley Gets Reviewed by a JoBro

Brad PaisleyBrad Paisley's, like, everywhere. That's normal when you release new music. But when you release the best music of you career, as he's done with American Saturday Night, the buzz gets even louder. Especially when Kevin Jonas starts waxing poetic on your stuff, as he did when he said, "I'm a huge country music fan, always have been, and American Saturday Night is an incredible record. Most of his records have a feeling of old country, but then you get the taste of the new -- and the new is definitely progressive. This record really takes leaps and bounds. There are blues songs on there, there are a couple of piano songs, there's a four-piece string and jug band. ... So there's an eclectic sound, but the storytelling and the songs are incredible." I couldn't agree more.

That’s nice that Kevin admires country artists and likes to comment on their albums, but I just hope and pray that they don’t crossover into country.

To Rugeruby…You hope and pray they don’t crossover to Pop Country or Roots Country? Because lets face it, what these kids are doing now isn’t much different than Pop Country now. For any type of music to be a real crossover it would have to be from Pop to Roots, Mainstream to Americana, or vise versa.

Sounds like another Pop fan with limited musical knowledge to me. I can pretty much bet he’s never heard all of today’s country music either. The tell tale sign of this? The part where he say something about, most of his(Paisley) records have a feeling of old country. This kid is as lost as 90% of the people on this blog site. I would say over half of today’s “country fans” that actually took the time to listen to all of today’s country music wouldn’t even like it.

It’s true that Paisley’s new album is very good, but really, like Kevin Jonas would know. I agree with Redmaz. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about, like most “country” fans.

And who cares what Kevin Jonas thinks about music? I wouldn’t take his advice/opinions anyday.

That’s so cool that he took the time to mention that! He probably got a lot of younger girls listening to Brad Paisley as well.

Never heard the Jobro’s sing, sounds like a teeny bopper group my grandkids (might) listen to. Love Paisley though.

Actually, most all of Brad’s stuff does have an older country or traditional vibe to it. I think what this guy (Kevin Jonas) was saying is that Brad’s new album is extremely progressive and incorporates more of what Brad had not done previously. For example the heavier usage of the piano and blues-type songs. This kid seems to be at least somewhat knowledgeable in the field of music. I think he produces some with his band… Whatever the case, the description he gave about Paisley’s new album is correct, and like the author of the article said, I couldn’t agree more.

I disagree, Paisley seems to be a nice person and everything, but his music really doesn’t have “an older country or traditional vibe to it”. It may in the Pop Country format where he’s played, but not compared to today’s Roots Music artists. If you don’t believe me, check out some of today’s Roots Country artists, and you’ll see what I mean.
