George Strait Brings Sexy Back on Twang Cover

George Strait Album Cover No, I haven't heard George Strait's new album yet, so you can save all your don't-judge-a-book-by-its-cover lectures. The only thing I'm going to comment on today is the cover. And what a cover it is. The album art for Twang, due Aug. 11, is sexy, sexy, sexy. And did I mention sexy? Strait's always been a wholesome kind of sexy. But this cover shows a whole new side to Strait: His bad-boy-country-cowboy-roughneck sexy side.

Let's analyze the details:

1. He's holding a mini-guitar, which feels naughty somehow because you're just so used to seeing Strait with his arms wrapped around a big ol' acoustic.

2. His tongue is out, not in a childish way, but in a way that makes him look very serious about what he's doing. Like he's concentrating.

3. His bedroom eyes look a little less twinkly and a lot more smoldering than usual. And he's not smiling, which either means he was mad or he's just got his game face on.

4. He's sitting in a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible. Any man that digs rare cars is all right in my book.

5. The typeface has a worn out, distressed and homespun look. Like he's kind of rough around the edges, so he wouldn't dare have a font that's all slick and polished.

6. He borrowed Gary LeVox's shirt. Well, maybe that's not entirely true. But after years of seeing Strait in a yellow button-down, this striped and embroidered thing he has going on is very on-trend. And it is not tucked in. He is way too cool for that now.

That's just the stuff I can see in the picture. Who knows what the rest of the album holds? Musically, I know it has some songs Strait wrote with his son Bubba, like the first single, "Living for the Night." I also know that seeing is believing, so there may be a different kind of George Strait on this album.

Definitely not sexy. He looks like a dirty old man in that pic. Strait can look good, he needs to fire the photographer who is responsible for that shot.

I think it’s sexy, but I could do without the tongue. I think it would still be sexy, maybe sexier, if he just had his mouth closed, not smiling, no tongue.

straitfan — I think a lot of women would like it very much if Strait was their “dirty old man.”

And I should say, to be clear, that I think Strait’s appearance is fine. I bet many men his age wish they looked as good as Strait. But to me, this is a bad picture.

Rumor has it that MCA was batting around the album titles Dirty Old Man, Drunk, and Strait Shreds In His Chevy. But they settled on Twang.

Seriously, that’s the coolest Strait album cover ever! I hope it has some of that classic twang like his first album Strait Country. I’ve been waiting a long time to hear him go there again. He does it well.

Being a Strait fan all my life, when I first saw this cover I laughed it is SO cute and not the typical George we all know and love. I think it is GREAT that he is showing us a side of him we RARELY get to view!!!

So far the best thing about this album is two Jim Lauderdale songs(including the title track), and the old Delbert McClinton tune “Same Kinda Crazy”. I’m not a Strait fan though.

I thought they would use a shot of the tail fins being that is a ‘59 Eldorado Biarritz. Oh well, as long as it’s a ‘59 Caddy, it’s ok with me. Oh yeah, almost forgot, that’s my car he’s sitting in! Too cool huh? And I’m serious about that too! IT IS MY CAR! Way to go George!

This is a B-roll shot/outtake from a day-long shoot with George. The photographer rarely has anything to do with the editorial process of CD cover design. Regardless, it’s a great shot capturing a lighter side of George we are not used to seeing. So enjoy!

George Strait’s new album is amazing Love it Specially the song “the breath you take” amazing song. Sure hope he releases it because after “Living for the night” reaches number one “the breathe you take” for sure will be number 59

Do as I did and just flip to the otherside of the CD cover, insert the backside and “VOILA” there’s a GREAT picture for you to enjoy. Got my CD Tuesday and have been really enjopying it since. I’m singing along already!
