CMT's Hazel Smith Talks About Michael Jackson

Posted: July 8th, 2009 at 5:32 pm  |  By: Tony Martino

You may not know this, but Hazel Smith not only writes her Hot Dish column for CMT.com, she also hosts a video series of the same name on CMT Mobile. As always, Hazel dishes on all the latest news in country music, basically telling it like it is -- for better or worse. She can be very candid, and I have to admit she still surprises me from time to time with what comes out of her mouth. I never imagined she would ever talk on camera about an artist like Michael Jackson, but his death definitely made an impression on her. The usually sassy host of CMT's Southern Fried Flicks was moved by his passing and was swept away with emotion. Watch the clip and view all of her Hot Dish clips on CMT Mobile, available on Verizon V CAST, AT&T CV and Alltel TV on Demand.

Damn, just when I saw enough live coverage on just about every news channel on Michael’s death it crosses into country music’s boundaries. Not trying to sound rude, believe me, I liked a few songs or two, but does it have to be EVERYWHERE? I know it’s something to talk about, but it’s not relevant to country music other than being a different genre of.. music.

Michael Jackson is the best entertainer to ever live, period.

All genres of music should give their respects.

Yeah right. I once saw Billy Bacon and The Forbidden Pigs lead guitar player put on a motorcycle helmet, and stood on his head during his solo. Now THAT’S entertainment bAbY!!!

To Lauren…what gave you the idea that cmt was just a country music sight? Have you ever checked it out? It features nearly every genre of music. From Bill Monroe to Marilyn Manson, and more.

That lady in the picture (above), looks like Wilma Flinstone’s mother. thank you

    “they’re humans just like us”

whoah nelly — is that right on the verge of major racism or what?

and ….. a site is what this webpage is. A sight is something visual. If you want to be the resident know it all, please use proper spelling and grammar.

Go on Miss Hazel! Your kindness and generosity means the world to Michael Jackson fans, Country fans, and compassionate human beings around the world.

Oh, good Lord, “Ham.” She said “human” meaning that even though they are famous and live an extraordinary life, they are merely nothing more than “human” like anyone else. Take your misperceptions somewhere else and quit trying to stir up sh$*% where it just simply doesn’t exist.

I like it when the fans give him a little rememberance. Not the tabloids having photos on front pages when he was dying. They are bottom feeders. I like seeing the human points to his life. Not the stuff they fed you to make a buck not knowing if its true. People need to boycott tabloids in his honor.

See what happens? A person that understands basic music fundamentals, on a music website is suddenly deemeded a know it all. Thanks, but you are giving way too much credit. I consider it only a prerequisite.

Whoa, why the name calling? Someone states their opinion and someone disagrees and calls them an “idiot”? Maybe Michael Jackson wasn’t the greatest entertainer of all, but he was a great entertainer, and I think it’s great that people from ALL genres of music are showing their respects.
