Can You Imagine a Carrie Underwood / Kelly Clarkson Duet?
This is not official in any way. At all. But it is, as of this blogging, one of the most active topics in the forum on Carrie Underwood's Web site. So I thought I'd bring the question over here, too: How would a duet with Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson sound? A few people posted that they think it would be terrific, with two powerful vocalists and American Idol darlings putting their talent together. Another poster thought maybe Underwood would "have to bring her vocals down to not drown out Kelly." All I know is that when Clarkson shared vocals with Reba McEntire on her already-huge hit, "Because of You," it went all the way to No. 2 at country radio. So if Underwood and Clarkson did consider a duet, which song would be their best bet?

I love both Kelly & Carrie and would like to see a musical collaboration between the two of them.
bkb says:
kelly and martina did a fantastic duet on reba’s giant show, they would be great together again.
Say What? says:
This would be an awesome duet. I’ve always thought that Kelly would do better in the country arena - she’s a Texas girl after all! I say, “let’s hear it, ladies!”
luvncmt says:
well, whoever said Carrie would have to bring her vocals down, so she doesn’t drown out Kelly, have obviously never heard Kelly. I love Carrie, but, I have to say Kelly has the stronger vocals of the 2. That said, I think a duet would be great. I love duets with singers that can really sing, and the 2 of them have amazing voices.
Crazydreamer says:
Not to sure about this…….I’m a HUGE Carrie fan…love Kelly too, but I think Carrie’s vocals are much stronger than Kelly’s. Might be interesting to see tho….I just don’t know if Kelly would be able to keep up with Carrie’s powerhouse of a voice…jmo
Joe says:
hmm well carrie IMO has the more precise vocals, but they both have powerful vocals, they are just different so its hard to compare them. kelly has a deeper voice so that kinda makes her vocals seem a little more powerful but they are not really
Faye Hilbert says:
The only problem with a duet between Carrie and Kelly is that Kelly would put Carrie to shame! I have seen Kelly Clarkson in concert alone and with Reba and I have also seen Carrie Underwood in concert and there is no comparison. Country or pop, Kelly has the powerhouse voice and stage command, in fact when it comes to rockin out Kelly has that won too. Just listen to her “My December” album and you would know what I mean. I would love to see more collaborations between Kelly and Reba or perhaps even with Martina McBride. They were both terrific together on Reba’s Giant tribute and these two ladies would be something to see and hear together! By the way, not only is Kelly the FIRST American Idol setting the stage for Carrie and every other Idol winner, but she in my opinion is one of the BEST American Idol winners. Perhaps we could consider a male and female Idol duet, then maybe we could hear Kelly with David Cook now THAT would be AWESOME!
Chris says:
I’d like to see it.
On the percolating “who has the more powerful vocals”, there’s no question that it’s Kelly. Just ask Simon. :-)
Crazydreamer says:
When did u see Carrie actually? this year? cause if not..you have NO idea what you’re talking about..her tour was AMAZING..enough to get her EOTY…..Carrie has and will be around for years to come …I just dont think Kelly can compete with that
rhonda says:
It is very interesting to me that people think carrie’s voice is stonger than kellys. they are both very strong vocally but i feel kelly has the stronger voice. a duet would be amazing. i think the song should be an original not a cover unless they decided to do patty griffins song up to the mountain.
Lucy says:
Faye Hilbert, I love you. You’re so right!
Lynn says:
Faye Hilbert, I don’t love you and you are so not right! I’ve seen Carrie 5 times and she is awesome! Her concerts last year were amazing. I don’t know how she does it night after night and sound so amazing! As far as putting Carrie to shame…there isn’t a singer alive that can do that. Her vocals are right on. I really like Kelly and I think a duet with Carrie and Kelly would be great. They both have strong voices but I still think of Kelly as pop not country. But I definitely would listen and buy any song they would do together. Funny, that you would bring up David Cook since he and Carrie are friends and sang a duet together for the opening of the American Idol theme at Disney World. They sounded awesome together..so I could see a duet between Carrie and David, too!!! Now that would be awesome!!!
Brian says:
Carrie and Kelly both have great voices! I think any collaboration between the two would be awesome!
luckyone says:
Carrie’s voice is much stronger. It comes from the diaphragm. Kelly’s voice is louder, it comes from the throat…that is called screaming. Kelly is a very good, controlled screamer, but Carrie is the powerhouse vocalist.
Be Real says:
Robin, I agree with you 100%. All of these comparisons between these artists is getting very tiresome. Creates nothing but animosity between fan bases and wins absolutely no one over. I freaking don’t care - both Kelly and Carrie can sing wonderfully, and they should absolutely do a duet together. How’s this: one country duet and one pop/rock duet. That would be awesome!
Jenna says:
yes!!!! it would be amazing!!!
Redmaz says:
A couple of corrections. First of all, neither Clarkson or McEntire have never been on the Country charts or radio(unless, of course you are talking about Pop Country. Which was never specified)…which brings me to my next point. To Faye Hilbert, Pop music is not an individual genre of music. Pop music is an industry consisting of many genres(including country). So your statement about “Country or pop” makes no sense. There is Pop Country and Roots Country. I hope this clears up any confusion on your part, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Ty says:
I think they would sound fantastic together. I like both of them. By the way Alison–do you dislike Carrie–and why?????
Anna says:
Which song would be their best bet if they did a duet together? Now, that is hard to say since both Carrie and Kelly can sing just about anything they wanted. I think I remember reading that Carrie has written a new duet song…have no idea if it is meant for male or female but if it is for a female…maybe that song would be a hit! I’m sure they would sound great together!
Tenn says:
No, I don’t think it would be a good idea - I would rather see Carrie duet with a country artist
Tenn says:
and it is not one of the most active topics on Carrie’s messageboard - haven’t seen that one up in ages
Tenn says:
Hardly an active topic on Carrie’s board - there are so many really interesting Carrie topics besides a boring hashed over for years subject and you can’t even fond that one on the front page except for now because someone brought your blog over - now you’re deciding what fans should talk about?
Jonathan F. says:
“Another poster thought maybe Underwood would “have to bring her vocals down to not drown out Kelly.”
Is that a joke?
Mel says:
I would love to see these two duet! Kelly is my favorite American Idol winner, and I love Carrie also. It would be fantastic!! Two powerhouse vocalists in their own right.
Anthony says:
I definitely do not agree with Carrie having the stronger voice (I think Kelly is better), but she is definitely up there. The two BEST American Idol alums doing a duet would be amazing!!! They have two different voices, but they’re both good enough where they can sing any genre, including each others.
Jason Coyer says:
Hmmmmm……I don’t know about it. I’d have to hear it, because I cannot hear it in my head. They both love to over-sing! LOL There would be quite a fight seeing who can out-sing who!!
Kevin says:
Kelly can sing anything - country, pop, rock, r&b, punk!
She has one of the most amazing vocal ranges i’ve heard in a long long time!
def. up there with mariah and celine.
Whose carrie? I’m sorry, where i live..Kelly is the only American Idol who has made it big here
Sarah says:
Some of ya’ll need to calm the heck down. The question is which song would be their best bet? Not, who sings better, blah blah blah. They’re two DIFFERENT artists, in two DIFFERENT genres. Kelly proved she can cross-over to country with Reba and Because of You. So, based on that and the tone of Carrie’s vocals, the song would def have to be country-related and sounding. Personally, I think they’d blend beautifully on Jesus Take the Wheel. Again, CHILL OUT.
Jennifer727 says:
Hey Alison!
You copied my forum comment!!! I want credit, missy! :P Well, BECAUSE I had started that forum discussion about the Kelly/Carrie duet….I think it’s a fantastic idea! You had also forgotten to mention my other comment where I suggested they could also be mentors for the upcoming crop of idols!
luvncmt says:
Redmaz You said “A couple of corrections. First of all, neither Clarkson or McEntire have never been on the Country charts or radio”
I beg to differ. “Because of you” ring a bell.
Redmaz says:
So, are you saying Pop is an individual genre of music? If that’s what you saying, please give me some background on this genre. For example it’s origin, key artists, history, tradition, and instruments used. They may be in two different genres, but it’s the same industry. Pop Music. Crossing over to the type of Country McEntire does isn’t much of a stretch.
Redmaz says:
luvncmt, no Because of you doesn’t ring a bell. It was never on any Roots Country radio or charts. Try reading my entire post.
luvncmt says:
Redmaz: I understand pop music is anything that is popular. I’m just saying I would hear that song on my country radio station all the time when it was out.
Jennifer727 says:
Also, in response to that comment that Carrie would have to lower her vocals to work with Kelly…wouldn’t it be the other way around? Don’t get me wrong, I love both and I think they’re both phenomenal…and maybe it’s cause I’m really not a vocalist, but Kelly seems louder vocally than Carrie. That how it seems to me..they’re both still great and mayber “louder” isn’t the right word, but I would think Kelly would overpower Carrie’s voice.
cindy says:
They’re both great in their own right. Each is gifted.
Alison W says:
louder does not mean better in regard to vocals. i do agree that carrie’s voice is better than kelly’s.
Bobby says:
Carrie is louder, Kelly is more powerful…both are amazing. I’m so sick of Carrie fans that feel the need to compare her to every artist any time their name is in the same sentence as Carrie’s. They are both great and a duet between the two of them would be absolutely huge.
luckyone says:
Just the opposite Bobby. Kelly sings from the throat. That is a hollow screaming sound. Carrie supports from the diaphragm. That is fact. This is not from a Carrie fan, but a promoter and music teacher. Carrie fans are right in thinking that she is the best….she is.
Janis says:
Bobby; “huge” perfect word. A duet by these two certainly wouldn’t be anything subtle. Do either of them ever just sing a song, simply, without all the powerhouse stuff? this could be eardrum-busting.
and yes, the comparisons are annoying. It always seems to be the Carrie fans too. You’ll notice there are no rabid Kelly fans here.
luckyone says:
Knowing how arrogant the Clarkson fans are, Alison wrote this blog as an opportunity to diss Carrie. Alison is a Taylor fan, obvious by her obsessive daily blogs. There is no mention of a Carrie / Kelly duet anytime in the future. Alison is baiting you folks. She is threatened by Carrie.
What? says:
how did you come up with that? Where have the Clarkson fans been ‘arrogant’? They are actually really nice.
Brent Idol says:
I have seen Kelly twice in concerts & with Reba too..amazing..Kelly is the true American Idol..the original and the only international superstar from Idol. Carrie has sold 10 million records. Kelly has sold over 20 million records, Carrie is awesome but Kelly is astounding!
What? says:
And why would Alison be threatened by Carrie? Alison is a blogger! There have been more disses to Kelly here than there have been to Carrie.
Aaron says:
I’ve seen Carrie twice in concert. She’s a great vocalist. I just recently saw Kelly Clarkson in concert for the first time last month. I was BLOWN AWAY! I had no idea she could belt like that. Incredible. I’m a big country fan so I didn’t get around to Kelly until recently. Check out some of her performances on youtube. She’s ridiculous. I agree with both sides. They’re both great singers. Different, but great! A duet would be soooo cool. And a huge sucess for both of them!
Walter says:
Hi.Wellcarrieunderwood and kelly clarkston woulbe a great duo. They are both great.Alsokellyc didgreat in the dou with reba and ive seen carrieu 3 times and shes great.Alsokelliepickler is great.Carrieunderwood and kelliepickler are also best friends andit wouldbe great to see themeither do a duo ortour together. Also please also vote forkelliepickler as well on powerpicks and the top20 and so on.Carrieunderwood and kelliepickler and kellyclarkstonlove you all.Take care.Have a great 4th all!
whatever says:
I would love for a Kelly/Carrie duet, Kelly’s up for it so why not? I like Carrie don’t get me wrong she has a great voice but it’s not where near as strong as Kelly’s. Luke Gottwald (one of the most world renown songwriters) who wrote “Since U Been Gone”, and all kinds of #1 hits for Britney, Backstreet Boys, Pink, etc back in December said Kelly was the “Lance Armstrong of Vocal Chords” and the guy knows what he is talking about. The girl never ceases to amaze me. And Kelly has a big voice so no wonder she “screams” but she rocks at it. I saw Kelly along with Reba in concert and Kelly blew the roof off. Kelly fans being “arrongant”? Ok not, grow up now. These two are definitely Idols top two vocalist and are capable of pulling it off. :)
Lindsey says:
I am the biggest fan of Carrie and Kelly but I dont think one of them is better than the other. They both have huge huge voices but just different styles. Carrie is not any bigger voiced than Kelly is.
CarrieFan says:
I would love a Carrie and Kelly duet! They are both great! Both have great voices… and are really sweet and classy ladies.
CarrieFan says:
Whatever— Carrie’s voice is just as strong as Kelly’s, but it is clear, whereas Kelly’s voice has a gritty edge to it. Both are great, just different. But Carrie’s range and power is definetly equal to Kelly’s.
CarrieRox says:
BrentIdol– your stats are misleading. Kelly sold 20 million albums only because she has 4 albums out already! Carrie only has 2 albums out!
In the US, Carrie is about to outsell kelly’s total sales despite the fact that Carrie only has 2 albums out, to kelly’s 4.
In US sales, Carrie will pass Kelly by the end of the year, with half the albums sold.
Kelly is ahead in international sales, because pop is big in Europe, whereas country is not.
luckyone says:
Yes it is CarrieFan, and you can actually understand what she is saying. Kelly is screaming and it is gritty and rough. No doubt who’s the best.
Jennifer727 says:
I’m a rabid Kelly fan and I’m not arrogant! HA! I think they are both phenomenal…granted, Carrie ripped off my dating life in The More Boys I Meet….but I can look past that. I think personality wise and vocally, they’re both awesome. It was just an idea I had–yeah, I’m taking credit for MY Carrie and Kelly duet idea and you can’t stop me! I just think everyone wants to pit the two against each other and there is no reason to. I would give anything to have even a little bit of the vocal talent that either one of them have. I can’t tell what it sounds like when someone sings from their throat or diaphram. I only know what sounds pretty….and good. And they both sound pretty….and good.
Jennifer727 says:
P.S. Oh, and I’m a non arrogant, rabid Kelly fan who does not despise Carrie. Quite the opposite….both girls are on the automatic record thingy on my TiVo. Now, if that doesn’t say rabid fan….well, then I don’t know what does. Kelly is above Carrie on it though but that has nothing to do with fandom….that has to do with the alphabet and Clarkson coming before Underwood.
Allison says:
I am a big fan of both kelly and carrie, but I agree with the poster above.
for some reason, Kelly fans HATE Carrie, but Carrie fans love Kelly! lol
pretty funny, and pretty obvious why.
bambi says:
No, I don’t think that’s a good idea because Kelly’s soulful, rock voice would trump Carrie’s bland vocals. Sorry, just my two cents.
Jennifer727 says:
Not all Kelly fans hate Carrie! I had never even heard of that! I think it needs to be “some fans”….because why would I not like Carrie? I don’t know Carrie….but she seems nice and I think she has awesome songs.
linda77 says:
I don’t know with you people but Carrie’s voice is very boring. I like Kelly’s raspy, gritty voice - it has a lot of character. So much soul and style.
Jo says:
I am a big fan of both kelly and carrie, but I agree with the poster above.
for some reason, Kelly fans HATE Carrie, but Carrie fans love Kelly! lol
pretty funny, and pretty obvious why
Haha! Yes it’s very obvious why.
cut3wolf says:
I do not like how Carrie interprets a song. It’s so shallow and one-dimensional. Kelly wins hands down in song interpretation because she gives so much meaning to it. That’s why she’s one of the world’s best ARTIST.
jaime - Houston says:
I’m a KELLY fanatic like seriously im ADDICTED to her!!! I have all of her albums i have seen her live 4 times i have every DVD released that she is on i have every single magazine she has been on the cover and i have her autograph!!! LOL STALCKER I KNOW~, but i have both of Carrie’s CD and i hate to love her cus my support is to KELLY 100%.
However I would have to say Kelly’s vocals would trump Carrie’s (IM SORRY) Kelly’s are just much STRONGER & POWERFUL & SOULFUL!!!
I do think if they did a duet it would be AMAZING!!!
THEY COULD DO IT!!!
I do wish they would release CRY on country radio from ALL I EVER WANTED…it would do great that is such an amazing song!!!
luckyone says:
sorry jaime, you are wrong. Carrie’s vocals would win in a head to head contest. Her voice is crystal clear and unstrained. Kelly can’t even finish a tour without taking time off for vocal rest. Know why? Because she doesnt use proper techniques. She screams.
Jennifer727 says:
she sounds good to me….both of them.
Ehhh, I’m bored of this conversation. Both are phenomenally talented singers! Now how about Carrie Underwood and….Sanjaya? Or Kelly and Sanjaya? Or Kelly, Carrie and Sanjaya…..and William Hung?
Luka says:
I’ve never understood the animosity and cattiness of the fans of these two great artists. Kelly and Carrie are easily the best idols and are talented in their own right. I love them both and think a duet would be amazing.
Sarah says:
Hey luckyone…she took some shows off during one tour due to like 2 straight bouts of pneumonia (sp?). It was the tour right around the VMA’s of 2005. Never heard of a cancelled show due to “screaming”. You’re an obvious hater. Move on with your life.
luckyone says:
Um, actually I do work in tour management. Kelly’s technique is non-supported and that is why she has so many voice problems. She does not sing properly. If she did, she might be better than Carrie, but now, not so much. Sorry, it’s fact.
Sarah says:
Here’s a fact: Kelly can sing anyway she chooses. I’m assuming you didn’t kow that she was classically trained. Go youtube her singing for the Pope. She can do THAT and then sing with grit. Sorry but there are your “facts” for you.
Sarah says:
*know
whatever says:
you are so right katrina. :)
Emma says:
Omg this would be pretty cool if they did a duet. I love Carrie and Kelly but i think Carrie totally has the better voice. Carrie ROCKS!! Love her! i saw Carrie in concert and she was awesome. Carrie has done a lot throuhout the years as Kelly not so much even though Kelly is great. CARRIE!!! <3
cg says:
what kelly has done alot through the years too even when she didn’t have anything out. carrie and kc both rock.
HJJ says:
Both girls are great vocalists and know how to do duets, so it would be a great duet and a commercial success. Unfortunately it probably won’t happen because both of them probably know the fans would be to busy debating who out sung who instead of just enjoying the feat of the duet.
Bobby says:
And, over on Carrie’s board, several of them are bashing and insulting Kelly….imagine that, it’s impossible to talk about another artist over there without them insulting them. But God forbid anyone say anything remotely negative about their precious Carrie. She outsung poor Randy Travis on their recent duet (which was just a gimmick Carrie’s team had to pull to keep the song climbing up the charts) and she would do the same to Kelly. Carrie doesn’t know how to control her volume, the only dynamic she knows is loud.
Bobby says:
And Carrie fans remind me of….well, no one, I can’t think of any other fan base that’s so rude and disrespectful to other artists. It’s no wonder Carrie isn’t as popular now as she was when she first came around. Her hardcore fans run everyone off with their offensive and insulting attitudes towards other artists and fans of those artists. They’re the reason I don’t listen to Carrie any more, and lots of others have said the same thing.
cg says:
Yeah My December must be a flop since it only sold over 2 million then…not. Hey Kelly could care less how much she sells. Yeah Kelly must be a flop it’s not like she broke a record or anything.
countryiscool says:
I think ALL the “fans” need to lay off the rants against other artists period. I wasn’t aware there was only ONE perfect artist, or you could only like ONE artist and must hate all others. Fans need to grow up. Artists are people first, performers second. They vary in looks, temperament, talent, performance–just as fans do. No one is better than the other, just different (unique) and just because you think your fave is the best, doesn’t mean the others aren’t to someone else. Hence, “to each his/her own.” BOTH Kelly and Carrie are great and they would do well together.
Why would country artists have to be so back biting and petty when their fans do it all for them? GROW UP FANS!
Awesome says:
I think it would be amazing. Now, seriously: Underwood would “have to bring her vocals down to not drown out Kelly.”
You gotta to be kidding… both are amazing! Carrie has the most powerfull voice, but kelly’s carisma is waaaay better than carrie’s… Kelly put a smile on everybody’s face! I think it’s a great ideia! the 2 best idols, singing together!
Emily says:
I would love to see this. I think Carrie could learn alot from Kelly about technique and how to connect with a song emotionally. Together they could put out a song of vocal perfection. Bring it on!
cg says:
I would love it if they did some kind of one shot co- headlining event or something kind of like Cross Roads but not really, well since Kelly already did a Cross Roads. That would be a cool show, both girls and their bands rocking out. :)
kelcie says:
I’d be down with seeing a duet with Kelly and Carrie - they both have amazing voices and a great presence about them! And while I’ve seen both of these lovely ladies in concert, and they are both awesome, I’d have to say that Kelly would give Carrie and ass kicking vocally. I think it would be great to see these two come together vocally and record a duet.
JOjo says:
It would be totally awesome!!!!!!
I Love both of these musically talented women. Together they would great.
I just hope they do this if they get the chance. :)
karen says:
C’mon now people, can we just appreciate both of them? There’s the two most successful artists that came out of that show, let’s show them respect even if you don’t like either.
Kyle says:
I would enjoy a duet between the two.
For me, what separates them is that Kelly has more of a personality, and it seems like Carrie is too diva, and sort of robotic. They’re both great singers, and I’m sure it would be a great seller.
K says:
Carrie is by far the better singer. Kelly is talented, but she tends to scream her songs, and she cancels shows a lot. As far as I know, Carrie has never canceled a show because of wearing out her voice. Carrie also shows much more emotion than Kelly as well.
Try watching her performances of “How Great Thou Art”, “Jesus Take The Wheel” at 2006 ACM awards, “I Ain’t In Chacota Anymore” at the OK Centenial, “Just A Dream” at the 2008 CMA Awards, “Don’t Forget To Remember Me” on the last Urban show, or ‘Just A Dream” in Jonesbro, Ark.
Show me ONE video of Kelly showing emotiom while singing, because I certainly haven’t seen any.
alicia says:
Kelly is BY FAR AND AWAY the better singer of the two…
Carrie has a HORRIBLE tone to her voice, because she has a terrible technique, and even worse placement. That’s why it always sounds like she’s singing through her nose.
Kelly can belt WAY higher than Carrie, and can also go lower. Kelly also shows her head voice, which is beautiful, and I’ve never heard Carrie experiment with her’s.
And also, I’ve only ever heard Carrie do country, pop, and some pop/rock.
Kelly has done almost every genre I’ve ever heard of. She is easily the most versatile current artist.
All anyone has to do, is go to YouTube and search for Kelly’s live performances of “Already Gone”, “Miss Independent” (especially on AOL Sessions), “Up To the Mountain”, “Because of You”, and too many others to name.
Don’t get me wrong, Carrie’s a good singer, but no where near Kelly’s level.
And, we don’t even HAVE to get into who’s been more successful, ESPECIALLY worldwide.
Kelly has sold double what Carrie has worldwide.
:)
Cynthia says:
OMG! I love Already Gone, Kelly’s best ever. That song will be HUGE! Her live versions of “Cry” are good as well.
K says:
Carrie has a “horrible tone?” She has a beautiful voice, and obviously more people agree than disagree. She is always on key and never screams, sounds scratchy, etc. If so many thought Carrie had a “horrible” voice, would she have won over 50 industry awards, including the most Grammy Awards of any Idol winner including Kelly herself?
If she had a horrible voice would she always be on-key? If she had a horrible voice would she have had the biggest selling debut album by an Idol winner?
Obviously Carrie has better voice control and technique than Kelly as well. Has Carrie ever canceled shows because of voice problems? Has Carrie ever screamed off-key?
No, but Kelly sure has.
Maybe Carrie hasn’t used her head voice because she’s only been around four years? She has plenty of time to grow and learn as a vocalist.
As for the claim Carrie “only” does country-pop? Do your research. She has done awesome covers of all the following NON country songs:
Praying For Time
How Great Thou Art
Sound of Music
Go Your Own Way
Home Sweet Home
Making Love Out of Nothing At All
Alone
Love Is A Battlefield
Angels Brought Me Here
Hello Young Lovers
I’ll Stand By You
Paradise City
I’ll Remember You
Is Kelly more succesful in album sales? No doubt. Carrie has her beat by a mile in every other category, however.

Mary says:
Carrie and Kelly are both great. I think it is a shame the way people put either one of them down. It isn’t about who is the better singer…they both can sing better than most anyone I have ever heard. A duet by either one would be awesome! BTW, Carrie is just as popular as ever and her fans are not rude or disrespectful. I think alot of that trash is just made up to try and make Carrie look bad. I spend a lot of time visiting and reading on boards and I can tell you for a fact…Carrie fans are some of the nicest fans you will find.
Allie says:
I love Carrie’s voice…I could listen to her sing all day. Horrible shouldn’t even be in the same paragraph as Carrie. Carrie has a beautiful voice..honestly, I’m amazed as how beautiful it is. I think she and her technique are doing just fine! As far a duet, I’m sure it would be great! Probably will never happen but it would be great.
Nellie says:
A duet between Carrie and Kelly would be awesome. Maybe they could do one for Idol Gives Back and the proceeds going to charity. Now that would be awesome.
alicia says:
OK, first of all, when did I EVER say Carrie was a “horrible singer”, I just said she had HORRIBLE tone, that sounds like she’s singing through her nose.
Obviously, you have never been professionally trained, as you don’t even know what tone is, lol.
Kelly doesn’t “scream off-key”, obviously, with her type of genre (pop/ROCK), her voice is going to sound rough on some songs, as that’s what the genre calls for. I’ve never heard Kelly off key, except for when she is obviously having trouble with her ear monitors (which has been once or twice), and has stated that she was having trouble with them.
And, FYI, voice control =/= consistency. I don’t think Kelly has ever canceled a show based off of pure VOCAL issues. When she canceled several dates in 2005 and 2006, it was because she contracted walking pneumonia (TWICE) and bronchitis, not vocal issues. She canceled one show last year due to sound issues from the night before, causing her to strain her voice to be heard over the band (stated by her bandmates, and Kelly herself).
And, what does being around for four years have to do with using head voice? Clearly, if she could do it, she would. I’m not saying I’ve NEVER heard her use it, it’s just when she does (which has been a very few amount of times), it sounds very restrictive, and almost forced. It also does not have a pleasant tone, either.
But, all Carrie’s vocal issues could be fixed with training. She just refuses to get training for some odd reason, and, although you may not see it, it DOES show.
Kelly HAS had training, and you can clearly tell, by her wonderful tone in her upper range when she belts, to her incredible use of her head voice when she needs to use it.
And, maybe you should read a little bit harder next time, as I said I’ve also heard her do pop/rock, which is what all of those songs are (give or take a few, as I have not heard all of those).
And, what in the world do magazine covers have to do with success? Kelly has been on an extremely large amount as well. Forgive me, as I do not know the names of them all, like you do.
Also, the reason Carrie has more Grammys, is because there is FAAAAAR less competition in the country portion of the Grammys.
Also, counting the awards Carrie has received is unfair, as well, considering there are twice as many country awards shows than there are pop music awards.
And, you say Carrie has “beat her by a mile in every other category”, however, Kelly is the one with SEVERAL Billboard Hot 100 top 10s, has more longevity by far (not just with albums, also with singles), and has gone on FOUR headlining tours, two co-headling.
I think it is safe to say who has been more successful thus far, but you never know, Kelly could disappear out of the pop world, and Carrie’s next album could flop. It’s too soon to say who will be the most successful out of the two, but in 2009, Kelly is clearly the winner.

carrie has a pure clear harmonizing melodic beautifull powerhouse voice and kelly has a edgy deep rocker beautifull voice, both ladies are very different and there are no comparisons. ive seen kelly and carrie both in concert and neither one is better then the either they both bring the house down no questions asked. kelly is pop rock and her voice fits the rocker style and carries voice is very melodic and she really shines when she hits the high notes it sounds so clear when she sings “i told you so” or “i know you wont”..im not sure kelly can hit those kind notes, but you know these 2 ladies have an amazing voice and i appreciate their vocals i cant decide on whos voice is best cant we just agree that their both incredible instead of comparing because they bring it every time, ive never been disapointed leaving their concerts so if they work together, id be one happy and satisfied fan, i say they should go for it after all they both are the best idols that stole the show on their season….i love them both and i cant compare and tear one or the other apart, i love these ladies, both are class acts. :)
bella says:
i think its very distasteful and disrespectful to rip these 2 wonderful talented artist to shreds. i respect all talent and i think their is so much talent out there to just pick one..kelly has a different voice then carrie and thats why they would sound amazing together…they would compliment each others voices because when you put icredible with incredible that sound would be beautifull to the ears.
Kevin says:
So, RedMaZ, you seem to be saying that the mainstream country charts arent country charts…….that would be false. Kelly Clarkson and Reba have definitely been on the country charts and country radio.
bella says:
alicia - in my opinion, carrie doesnt sound nasily, she has one of the best voices out there (i know your not saying shes bad,but im just stating) she is more in the martina mcbride category then the jessica simpson category when you say nasily, i think of jessica…everyone has their style and preference but carrie’s voice is chilling and it gets you everytime at least for me i feel blessed with her talent. i love kelly too and i think shes wonderful these 2 are my favorite and i voted for both of them i am a kelly and carrie follower and i hope they duet this would be such a blessing to me and all their fans.
both definitely are ridiculously crazy gifted :)
mel says:
kelly and carrie are both great singer’s. a deut they would have to go with something like before he cheats or since you been gone something along those lines. i don’t think carrie would drown out kelly their voices are on a par
carmen says:
love kelly. but prefer carrie no doubt. carrie has the most beautifull smooth and chilling voice ever seriously she gives me chills…and she is so versatile the girl can sing anything she rocks out she even covers some metal songs its so awesome too watch and i love kelly but im definitely loving me some carrie more!
shylah says:
“HORRIBLE tone, that sounds like she’s singing through her nose”.
yeah thats a ridiculous comment obviously this has been working for her she has an amazing career she is one of the most successfull country artists right now…i guess your one of the few odd out there who feels this way and i guess her technique cant be all that bad!!
by the way kelly wins in 2009 is not true carrie hasnt put anything out in 2009 which means she wasnt competing and their not even in the same genre anyway, carrie toured all last year and sold out all her concerts thats why she was “entertainer of the yr”…she didnt have any new material out this year but she will later in the fall.
alicia says:
It’s actually not a ridiculous comment. Carrie has had an extremely successful career, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have horrible tone.
Look at Britney Spears, the best selling female of the 2000s. She can’t sing for sh!t, and she still is selling.
Having good sales does not mean you have a good voice.
Umm, Kelly DOES win at the moment in terms of success. Kelly has sold more than double what Carrie has worldwide, and, unless Carrie sells 10+ million copies of her new CD this year alone (which will NOT happen, lol), and has nine more top 10 singles, Kelly will still be in the lead.
shylah says:
kyle:
carrie is not diva or robotic she is always misunderstood because she is really shy and when theres a lot of people around her say parties or gatherings, she feels awkward because shes a shy person. ive seen her in concert and shes fun, she jokes alot with the audience, and she tells us stories, shes very sweet, nice and she has a cute personality shes a down to earth country girl…kelly is very outgoing, funny, and she does show more personality, but just because a person is shy doesnt make them stuck up or diva, i should know i have the same problem people mis judge me all the time just because i am very shy.
zilla says:
they are two different styles. both great singers. carrie has been polished and turned into a product. but that does not diminish her talent. she has it and people like it. kelly to me is more of a singer, a singer who can tackle any genre and make it her own. kelly can sing anything.anything. she draws on her emotions and gives you a performance that leaves you in awe. youtube “home”, “cry” “sober”, “addicted”…there is no one that sings with such emotion. and sings it perfect. she sang for the pope. ave maria. the pope. i am a definate kelly fan. and carrie is good. so back to the original question, which song? dont think there is one out there.
Twilighter says:
Kelly sings with emotion and she draws from personal experience that’s why her music is more relatable. And she always experiments with other sounds like what she did in My December which is one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. Carrie is good, too. Hey, maybe a duet is not a bad idea after all.
Achsah says:
Carrie Underwood is the best vocalist of our generation on her way to becoming an all time vocal great….
She is in my opinion and in so many other’s simply peerless.
Michael says:
I don’t think it would be a good idea. Kelly and Chris Daughtry would be awesome. Carrie and Taylor Swift would be awesome. But Kelly and Carrie, no way. Way too different. Kelly’s voice is deeper and more raw. Carrie’s is more manufactured. Not a good idea.
jeremy09 says:
This is like reading a comic strip!!!!!!!!!!
cg says:
Carrie good and can “paradise city” and “sweet child o ‘mine’ good but she is not as versatile as Kelly. When Kelly sings ‘big band it sounds big band, when she sings r&b it sounds r&b. The girl can sing anything pop, rock, country, punk, r&b, etc. Kelly has more emotion like when she sings “up to the mountain”, “never again”, “addicted”. I’m not bashing Carrie at all. But okay some people so what who has more awards they both have about the same.
HJJ says:
It is safe to say that fanatic is safe in the Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood camps. It is so ridiculous to belittle either of these women voices. They have been the most successful artists in the last few years whether you are speaking of only AI or music in general. It is a good thing both of them understands what a duet is and understands the art of harmonizing unfortunately due to this example of outpouring criticism of both I’m sure this won’t happen anytime soon. It would be very successful however, if they ever did.
Redmaz says:
Kevin, the original blogger said nothing about Mainstream Country radio or the charts. Read the blog again and pay attention. You can’t see past Mainstream Pop culture anyway, so don’t waste my time. You’re as uneducated about music as everyone else here on this blog. Musically, Underwood and Clarkson are only recognized in the Pop Music format. It’s time everyone learned that. If the original blogger would have said Mainstream Pop country radio in the first place instead of “it went all the way to No. 2 on country radio” …there would’ve been no need for me to reply in the first place. It didn’t go to No.2 on Roots Country radio, it may have went there on Pop Country radio, but not Roots Country radio. This is basic music fundamentals, that still seem to elude you.
To cg, Pop is NOT an individual genre of music. It’s an industry consisting of many genres. So for you to say she can sing pop, rock, country, punk r&b etc, makes no sense. Everything these girls sing is Pop music.

K says:
alicia: Carrie does not have a horrible tone. You may be educated when it comes to music, but you know what nasally is? If you want to hear nasally listen to Rascal Flatts or Justin Timberlake NOT Carrie Underwood. Ever heard of Fantasia? She’s the Idol QUEEN of nasally.
Whether Kelly canceled shows because of vocal issues doesn’t matter. It matters that she was obviously not healthy enough to perform, and she let her fans down. Carrie was sick as a dog at the Opry last December. She was clearly losing her voice big time, and she still went on and sounded great.
Your op;inion that Carrie’s head voice sounds restrictive and voice, is not only an opinion, but a contradiction. You previously said Carrie DOES NOT use her head voice.
How do you know Carrie “refuses” to get training? Do you know her?
Sounds pretty judgemental to me.
Carrie DOES do plenty of songs other than country, which I proved in my other post.
I stand by the fact Carrie has been more successful in every other area than album sales. She has won over 50 awards, she had the biggest selling Idol debut of any Idol. Every one of her singles has gone number one, which makes her the first country artist in history to acheive that.
In 2008, she was the best-selling female touring artist.
If want to make disputes album awards go ahead. But that doesn’t explain all the Bilboard. Grammy, Dove, PETA, People and Teen Choice awards? These are all multi-genre awards shows that Kelly could have been nominated or won at.
By the way, there are EQUAL catogories in pop and country at the Grammys, so Carrie won fairly.
Carrie has been around four years, and has already gone on a co-headlining tour AND played to one million people on her FIRST headlining tour.
justamom says:
I personally don’t think they would blend together. I never cared for kelly’s voice. I think Miranda and Carrie would go well, being they are more country. Carrie can sing pop well too, even though I love her country side. She reminds me of of Barbara mandrell, another favorite of mine.
Can’t wait for her new album, just know it will be a great success, she is truly a Superstar!
Redmaz says:
justamom says “Carrie can sing pop well too”. If you get a chance would you define “Pop” for me?
Redmaz says:
A d-bag? I don’t know what that means. Is that like the little guy from Fantasy Island? “Boss…d-bag, d-bag”. No wait a minute…that was “d-plane, d-plane”.
Sherry says:
They are both talented and lovely women and I would love to see them do something together. I wish them both continued success in their professional and personal lives. Pehaps something new would be best that suits them both.
whatever says:
K, the reason Carrie has the most selling debut album from and Idol alum is because Idol was it’s most popular during season 4 compared to season 1 which Kelly has said during her season there was barely anybody in the audience due to people barley knowing what Idol was so thank goodness for Kelly winning and not making it be canceled because who knows if Carrie would be a singer. But hey Breakaway is the best selling album from an Idol alum and no I’m talking about US sales.Breakaway was also the fifth best selling album of 2005. Kelly has also co-headline tours, two to be exact and she also played for millions on her FIRST headlining tour. Look the these two girls have equal the success. And are you saying Kelly has never won or been nominated for a Billboard award, Grammy, People, Teen Choice because she has been nominated plenty of times and has won several of them. And she also has a Kid’s Choice. Who cares about stupid PETA. Even if Kelly has ever let down her fans she always makes it up. Every show she has canceled she has always made it up. When Carrie sings other genres it still sounds country, her singing other genres is not as good as Kelly singing other genres.
whatever says:
I meant to say “no I’m not talking about US sales. :p
chris says:
Carrie drowning out Kelly? Please. I love Carrie, but Kelly can out sing Carrie any day. Simon Cowell has said so himself. Nevertheless, I would love the two to sing together.

why on earth would kelly and carrie want to do a duet together? if they had to perform together, their fans would start a war against each other. i realize that we are all allowed to voice our opinion, but good grief. both of these artists love their fans and i am sure they would hate to read some of these comments. it is disheartening to hear people speak so negatively of two amazing artists. they are just people who happen to make good music and love singing and performing for their fans. i think a duet would be incredible because they are both very good at what they do. i said this earlier but i would really like to hear them perform “up to the mountain” together. they seem to both be very spiritual people and to see them put their souls into a song like that would be amazing. if you are not familiar with the song you should check it out on youtube. you can hear patty griffin sing it or kelly or my favorite version is the one with reba and kelly.

Someone probably snuck into my place and put it there. That’s happened a lot ;) A friend of mine once said that everyone thinks they have the best taste in music and everyone thinks they have the best music library and it’s true.
That’s why I’m making jokes. Cause we’re arguing something that really can’t be solved. I mean, I bet you there are people out there who heart Sanjaya and an idea of Carrie/Sanjaya or Kelly/Sanjaya duet would be a dream come true. I’m not one of them. I mean, Hilary Duff, sure. Ashlee Simpson and her sister, Jessica, possibly. Sanjaya is so where I draw that line!
Am I ignorant about music technique? Yeah. Do I care? No, not really. Oh, and as I’m finishing this, my ITunes began playing Hilary Duff and I’m damn proud!

Im not undeducated at all… The blogger was not in the wrong by only saying country charts and country radio. That was a true statement. The comment that was incorrect is when you said that Kelly Clarkson and Reba had NOT been on the country charts or country radio. They absolutely have. So you were wrong. Hope this clears up any confusion on your part.
Jennifer727 says:
On whose part? I’m not confused….I’m just having fun playing and making light of what should be a light conversation.
Redmaz says:
If you don’t know the difference between Pop Country and Roots Country…you are musically uneducated. You show me where these Pop acts were ever on the Roots Radio or Roots Charts, and I’ll never post on this blog site again. Never.
K says:
To the person that said Idol was most popular during season 4. Wrong.
I’ve seen the seasons in terms of viewership, and season one was definatly ahead of four.
Simon NEVER said Kelly was better than Carrie. Anyone remember the “I will make a perdiction, not only will you win this show, but you will sell more records than any other Idol winner?”
Jennifer727 says:
I may indeed be musically uneducated, but I’m very educated where it matters the most…. ;)
Kevin says:
I didnt say they were on the Roots country charts, and neither did the blogger. Are you saying that the Roots country charts are the only country charts there are? It is a fact that Kelly and Reba have been on the country charts and country radio. You said that they hadnt….which is not true.
Z-man says:
As a Carrie fans, I obviously favor Carrie, but they are both talented singers. I am really not a fan of Kelly but she obviosly has talent as she won AI and Grammys and many more. I think their duet would be awesome because Carrie is very versatile as well as Kelly. I can see the sing a rock song! SO stop comparing…
The some of the comments:
MICHAEL:
“Carrie and Taylor Swift would be awesome. But Kelly and Carrie, no way. Way too different. Kelly’s voice is deeper and more raw.”-
You must be joking, Carrie definitely has to tone down if they do a duet. Carrie and Kelly would be so much better because they both are versatile!
ALICIA:
“Also, the reason Carrie has more Grammys, is because there is FAAAAAR less competition in the country portion of the Grammys.” (I do agree, I don’t think anyother ladies come close to Carrie in country, that why it is hard to judge Carrie and Kelly because they are in two different genre.
“And, you say Carrie has “beat her by a mile in every other category”, however, Kelly is the one with SEVERAL Billboard Hot 100 top 10s, has more longevity by far (not just with albums, also with singles), and has gone on FOUR headlining tours, two co-headling.”
Kelly is pop, it’s very hard for country artist to break into Hot 100 unless they edit their songs to pop version. For a country artist, Carrie is doing phenomenal in the Hot 100: Kelly has 8 songs in the top 10 (in 8 years); Carrie has 4 in 4 years. Not a really fair comparison is it, Carrie’s Before his Cheat stayed at Hot 100 for 63 weeks (I said that longativity). Her first album stayed 136 weeks on Billboard albums and her 2nd CD is still in the BB100, 88 weeks and counting!
Kelly DOES win at the moment in terms of success. Kelly has sold more than double what Carrie has worldwide.
Once again, Country is not popular in other countries, that’s why Kelly has the advantage, but in terms of American soil Carrie is tchnically winning because she sold more with less (kelly is on her 4th album and Carrie is on her 2nd; but who knows what is to happen tomorrow, either of them can have a flop).
In conclusion, there is no need for the comparision because it hard to compare them when they are in 2 different genre and they came out in differnet times, so it’s not a fair comparison. They both have fans and they both are selling so no need for this debate.
Jennifer727 says:
K-
I don’t know if it’s fair to count the viewership of season 1 to season 4. I’ve watched them all as well, but I didn’t watch season 1 until the top 10 were announced. Season 1 grew in viewership and was huge by the end, because it was so brand new. Also, even Kelly has called her season “ghetto idol” or something–although my favorite is that apparently she still hasn’t gotten the car she won!
By season 4, the luster of the show was beginning to fade it seemed because it seemed that the show might be a flash in the pan given the fact that of the first three winners, only one had been hugely successful up to that point and I think Carrie’s win and subsequent success revived the show. I think if Carrie had not been successful post Idol, the show would probably would have lost steam. Then I think season 5 with Daughtry and Kellie Pickler, proved you don’t even need to win to be successful!
But you really can’t compare Season 1 to Season 4. It was a completely different show, no mentors, none of the flashiness there is now. Kelly has even been quoted in saying they had no clue what they were doing and if this was going to help them or hurt them career wise. I think Carrie and her group kinda knew what to expect a little bit…

Redmaz says:
You didn’t say they were on the Pop Country charts either. Neither did the blogger. You may have it figured out now. I was beginning to wonder if you ever were. However if you have any more questions about AMERICANA/ROOTS MUSIC, please feel free to ask. I’ll be glad to help. Thanks
Jennifer727 says:
I have confession to make. I am Kelly Clarkson….and I’m pissed! :P
Bobby says:
Carrie will never be able to do a duet with a female unfortunately, especially one that is also currently doing very well. It is evident in these comments that it would turn into a bash fest between their fans. Carrie fans are closed minded and think that any female out there that isn’t Carrie is terrible. I swear I’ve never seen more drama come out of any other fan base. Whatever happened to enjoying the music? Fans can’t even enjoy the music any more because they are too caught up in making sure their favorite stays on the top and that no one else catches up. It’s ridiculous. I don’t care if Carrie or Kelly’s next single peak at #1 or #100, I’m still going to enjoy their music just the same and it doesn’t change the fact that they are both very talented.
Jennifer727 says:
Bobby….you rock.
Jennifer727 says:
….although, I wonder if Carrie also screams Kelly’s name when she’s in pain. “AHHHHHH, Kelly Clarkson!” Oh, that would be funny….if they did a duet and at the end, Carrie screams, “ahhhhhh! Kelly Clarkson!” Ha, ha! Or the duet would start with Carrie and then to introduce Kelly, she would scream. “Ahhhhhh! Kelly Clarkson!” Oh, the pastabilities are endless!

Shaking my fist is getting more than just my face red…if you know what I mean. I think you do;) Stop peeking in my windows. On second thought…peek away. You’re right…it IS cute.
justamom says:
Red, of course I know the difference between pop and country, you are just too technical. I didn’t take classes in music, but it’s called common sense.
Well, anyway Carrie sings it all just beautifully! She’s the best out there imo!

You all are feeding into what this dumb blogger Alison is doing.I wonder why she didn’t post a blog about how terrible Taylor Swift sounded at the CMT awards.Everyone was talking about that and yet no blog, when Alison is always posting about her.Alison, doesn’t like Carrie-not many at CMT do.People hate vocally talented people because they have to come up with a gimmick to compete with them because vocally the can’t.They’re all glitz and glammer and no substance.Oh, yeah Alison I saw you removed my last blog.Again, you’re so lame. You can dish it out but can’t take it.You’ve been exposed. We’ll see this Fall who will remain standing 10 years from now.

Oh….and Red made a dirty joke! I didn’t think you had it in you! Oh and that’s what she said….AHHHHH, KELLY CLARKSON! I actually should one day see that movie!
Steve says:
Pretty much down to personal opinion on who thinks who is best, but i think Kelly is much better, she can sing any genre. Would be a good duet.
Redmaz says:
You know the difference between pop and country? Pop includes country music too, so that still makes no sense. Pop is not an individual genre of music, it’s an industry consisting of many genres including Country, Rock, Rap, Hip Hop, R&b, Adult Conteporary, etc. Just as Americana Music includes many genres. Country, Rock, Blues, Bluegrass, Folk. This is really not that difficult. It’s just basic music fundamentals.

Z-man says:
Yes, I do agree that allison intentionally post this blog to stir up debate and to have ppl hate Carrie. Allison we are on to you!!!
Redmaz says:
You’re telling ME no one cares about basic music fundamentals? Actually, I believe no one here knows about basic music fundamentals(a few people do. maybe 10%, and that’s pushing it), but I think it’s due to a lack of knowledge, rather than if they care or not, but of course one would have to care, and love music before they would have a willing to learn. That obvious. Just look around, and especially on this blog.
IlikewhatIlike says:
Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Kellie Picler, Taylor Swift, Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert, etc. all have fan bases that include a few fanatics. They also include fans that support their favorite but also love all the others. Allison is one of Taylor Swift’s fanatical fans and I’m sure she wanted to try to make Carrie look bad by showing a blog where a fan, or someone posing as a fan, started a blog about Kelly and Carrie. To those who joined in the hate, you should feel used by Allison. You fell for it. But don’t worry, Allison will be back to posting about something, anything, Taylor Swift. You know something like, Taylor Swift’s snot matches her hair!

And actually, I’ve talked to several fans of Carrie who have told me that Carrie has not, and refuses to get training because it would “go against her natural singing”, or something along those lines.
Also, LOL at you using ONE example of Carrie sticking it out, even when she was sick, to show she “cares about her fans”. Please, Kelly has performed a very large number of times when she was incredibly sick, back in 2005 (with, as i stated, WALKING PNEUMONIA!). She sang at the VMAs, and the last few dates of her show, even with bronchitis and walking pneumonia. Now, THAT’S dedication.
During the Idol tour in 2002/2003, she completely lost her voice from being overworked, and still went on with every show for that week, even if she didn’t sound too great.
You’re starting to bore me. You keep repeating the same facts over and over. You failed to mention that Kelly has had more top 10s on the ALL FORMAT chart (which includes country), and that her worldwide single sales have proven to be well over half of her sales from the US, which is unusual for artists from the US.
And, please don’t completely fabricate things. Season 4 is the season that brought the most viewers to the show, EVER. It’s widely known that Idol REALLY blew up in season 4 and season 5.
Simon has said a COUNTLESS number of times that Kelly is the best singer to come out of Idol. On nights when Carrie has performed the same night as Kelly, all three judges still state that Kelly “was in a completely different league than any of the other females” that night. If you don’t believe me, I can find several video links for you.
I just saw your post about Kelly showing no emotion when she sings, which is funny, considering when Carrie sings, I feel like I’m watching a cardboard box. Carrie is SO incredibly boring on stage, and has a very small amount of stage presence (which is one of the flaws she had on Idol, which the judges called her out for SEVERAL times).
Kelly is easily the most emotive singer today. Try watching her perform “Already Gone”, “Cry”, “Sober”, “Because of You”, or even “Behind These Hazel Eyes” live, and you’ll see what I mean.
Hell, Kelly has even cried while singing “Because of You” live at the Grammys.
And, I don’t even think I should start on who is the one who actually WRITES most of her music. How can Carrie show so much emotion in songs she didn’t write? I know her emotive skills would shine more if she actually wrote more of her music.
Anyway, this is getting old. You keep repeating the same things, so I think I’m done with you.

you know what’s a great exercise playlist? Put all your idols on to one playlist–in my case, it would be Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, Chris Daughtry, David Cook and Jennifer Hudson. Then press shuffle and go outside and play! It’s a beautiful day out there….and I’m going to enjoy it! See ya, suckas!
Happy 4th!
Redmaz says:
’bout time, now blow…, but remember, “just come on back if you ever want to try again, ’cause I done told you once you 727, I’m the best that’s ever been” ;)
Happy Independence Day!

these comments are so immature, the tweens are coming out of the woodwork. Who’s better is a matter of what you prefer in music. I hate comparison, but the question is would they be good together doing a duet? My opinion is no, I think Carrie and Miranda would be better.
Garnet says:
They should sing “Does He Love You?” Awesome. First - it’s a country classic duet, and Second - Kelly has done it with Martina and with Reba. Not sure if Carrie has performed that duet with anyone - but I can hear her singing it.
Tiffany says:
Good grief, people. The question wasn’t who could sing the best…it was what song would be the best if Carrie and Kelly sang a duet? I think they would do fine together…they both sing beautifully. It is whoever you prefer as to who can sing the best or better if you like. I prefer Carrie but I think Kelly is a great singer, also. I watched Idol from Season 1 when Kelly won but I didn’t go buy her album. But I did buy both of Carrie’s albums when they were released. I don’t care about stats or awards..I just know what I like to hear. They are both great!
Tiffany says:
Garnet…Carrie has sang Does He Love You. She sang it with Jamie O’Neal a few years ago right after Idol. It is here on CMT if you go to Carrie Underwood’s videos. It was great! I love that song!
Jennifer says:
I bet my life half of these negative posts are not made by a Carrie or a Kelly fan! I think everyone knows what fan base does this all the time and it is not Carrie’s or Kelly’s.
Jennifer727 says:
Jennifer….
Which fanbase does that? Are you talking about those damn Miley fans? Yeah, they car-razy!
Justamom….
You are completely right about the immature comments, that’s why I’m being silly and posting random crap with the slightly desperate and pathetic attempt at getting a laugh and everyone can finally realize how silly this all is.
Granted, it is giving me a good laugh! So yea, for that…
jeremy09 says:
Here’s som Wikipedia education for all you stat people
Kelly; Her first three albums sold over 9.5 million
Carrie; Underwood has sold over 9.6 million albums in the United States…That’s only two albums!!!
Ponder why is Kelly fourth album only to date sold 650,000+, and it has been out for how long, and there is a bigger fan base in adult contemporary then country where Carrie’s Carnival Ride sold 479,000 in the first week Hmmmm!!!
Ty says:
I think both Carrie and Kelly are great vocalists. I would love to see Carrie and Garth Brooks do a duet. I think it would be great. They are two of my favorites.

i cant believe you are comparing britney spears to carrie underwood…this shows how much you know about people who CAN sing and have talent…you are so confused.
seriously britney spears…LOL
destinyHope says:
you kelly fans are no better if your saying carrie fans are mean!…some are not very polite but neither are some of the kelly fans every artists have their nice and rude fans…isnt stereotyping only carrie fans mean?…i suppose name calling the carrie fans is being nice right?…take your own advice…dont be mean…
carrie is awesome, kelly is awesome, and they both deserve the respect for their individuality they should not be torn apart by comparisons.
Jennifer727 says:
what?! Oh, Shylah, don’t you be knocking Britney! :P Oh…oh no you di’ent!
Jaime-Houston says:
Jenn727
OMG KELLY AND PINK WOULD BE AFREAKINGMAZING!!!!
Now that would be omg wow i cant even imagine…it WOW!!!
They are so alike but yet so diff…
WHY??? says:
Kelly has sold more world wide. Carrie will sell more in the United States. Kelly has that raw emotive voice. Carrie has that clear, pristine voice. Both artists are really versatile. They were both on American Idol and won after all.
Kelly has sung:
Respect-Aretha
since you’ve been gone
sober
already gone
walkaway
because of your
never again
low.(many different genres)
Carrie:
All her songs are coutry pop but she does other genres well too:
Go Your Own Way
Alone
Angels Brought Me here
Rain
along w/ her country songs(hmmm… many different country songs also)
Anyone noticing a pattern? It doesnt matter if a person likes one more than the other but to be completely disrespectful. Grow up.
I actually loved the idea of this thread. If i had to choose their songs, I would chose Last Name-(CU) as a duet or Already Gone- (KC)
And Red stop forcing an education on people. You’re not better for listening to root country and going against the mainstream.
Jennifer thank you for trying to keep things light and calm.
Jennifer727 says:
Jaime–I know! Pink and Kelly would be awesome together! I hadn’t even thought of that one until someone had suggested it…but I was listening to Pink’s “Burn the House Down”…I doubt that’s the actual title….or maybe it is….and then it kinda reminded me of Kelly’s “Never Again” and kinda fits. I can totally see that working! They’re alike but different…yeah! I think they both have that same intensity, that kinda “I’m gonna do it my way” attitude which makes it go together really, really well! I get the feeling that both Pink and Kelly are at equally levels of just pure stubborness where Carrie is more go with the flow…just my take from my extensive knowledge of absolutely nothing!
Why?–which btw, I don’t think is your real name! You’re welcome! This isn’t the forum to teach people! People like what they like…I mean, my vocal talents match those of a dying cat so perhaps I’m not the best one to make a suggestion…but still…it’s music.
K says:
Carrie is better than Kelly period.
Lynn says:
I think a duet with Carrie and Kelly would be awesome. They both are so talented. Someone suggested Carrie and Garth. I think I remember reading that when Carrie was very young..she met Garth and said then she would like to sing with him someday. That would be an awesome duet.
shylah says:
no,no, jennifer727 you got me all wrong, britney is soooo different then carrie, i respect britney for the great entertainer/performer she is, she really knows how to control the stage and she is a great dancer and she works hard and i respect her success but what i meant is that vocally carrie has a set of pipes on her and if this is based on vocals britney isnt in her range.
for the record i love britney and i didnt mean anything by it :)
shylah says:
hey you guys, why are you guys even responding to “redmaz” comments, i ignore what he says i dont even waste my time to read what he says so if he even writes back to me i wont even know it because i ignore the bloggers that arent worth my thoughts…so you all should do the same he just wants to get a rise out of you, that is why i dont bother with him…i dont care, just some friendly advice, just dont bother if you all ignore him perhaps he’d get tired since no one is fighting with him and move on…
:) one can only hope
Jennifer727 says:
Ha, ha…..yeah, shylah, I didn’t want to have to go all “leave Britney alone!” on you! :P
Diana says:
Wow! It still surprises me how some fans get so over protective of their favorites. Both these gals are great, just different, neither needs defending. I love them both. IMO, Kelly shows more emotion in her singing but lately I feel Carrie is getting more emotional in her delivery. I think Carrie stays in tune a bit more, Kelly even said on tv that she didnt think her fans cared if she hit a bum note once in a while since her delivery has gotten more emotional. Thats paraphrased, btw. I don’t know whos voice is stronger, both can hit the high notes and both are good. Both can sing country and pop rock so all is good. Both are gorgeous, nice ladies and good role models, unlike an awful lot of the singers in all genres.
If we are talking duets, I would love to see Carrie and Bo record one. Their duet in the finale was wonderful. At the time, the message boards were full of people suggesting they do a duet. Hope Carrie reads this and follows through.
shylah says:
i love britney spears she is an awesome dancer ive always admired that, and even though she gets picked on because a lot of people say she cant sing, i like her voice it fits her style….”leave britney alone”…nah you wont have to do that w/ me :)
diana by the way i agree with you 100%…kelly and carrie our the best out there and they both dont deserve to be disrespected like this… they are incredible i have had the privilegde to see them in concert and they both “wowed the heck out of me” i can only imagine how they would sound together if they were to duet, it would blow our socks off!!…both of them can definitely bring it!!
“so leave carrie and kelly alone” :)
TEAMCARRIE says:
Carrie is an incredible vocalist and person! She is certainly at least equal to Kelly in terms of range, power, and overall skills.
I like kelly too, but I must say I can’t stand her rabid fans who come on this board just for the purpose of trashing Carrie. Grow up!
You are like a pack of rabid wolves. Not cool.
TEAMCARRIE says:
Kelly has not sold 10.1 million in the US. That is a lie. She has not scanned 10 million yet.Carrie will pass Kelly’s US sales by the end of the year. That is a fact. and Carrie only put out 2 albums to Kelly’s 4. Sure, Kelly has shipped over 10 million, but so has Carrie, long ago, and only on 2 albums. It took Kelly 4 albums to get near 10 million in the US.
I like Kelly too, but I agree with the post above. Her fans are hateful and just rotten.Kelly would be ashamed of some of you.
For the record, calling people “idiots” is real mature.
Michael says:
While I love both Kelly and Carrie, if I had to make a choice, Carrie is the better vocalist. She has a crystal clear, pure voice that is both powerful, and lovely, at the same time. Kelly is great too, but she sounds scratchy and strained more often then not. Both have a big range and alot of power.
Carrie can sing any genre too! I am sick to death of the Kelly fans bragging how she can sing any genre, as if that is a new skill?? lol
Carrie sings Guns n Roses and gets great reviews all over, as she rocks out with an electric guitar no less! She also blew everyone away on Heart’s Alone, and did a fantastic job on that george Michael song for Idol gives back. She can sing gospel too, pop, r & b, and even old standards.
Carrie did a duet with Tony Bennett, Josh Groban, and Michael Buble on Oprah that was truly incredible.
Carrie also did a “duet” with Elvis in December 2008 for a christmas cd, and her voice sounded timeless and classic.
So please stop trashing Carrie.
This blog was meant to discuss a duet, not meant for rabid kelly fans to gang up and trash Carrie for no reason.
threatened by Carrie much? lol
Simon Says says:
KELLY WOULD WIN HANDS DOWN IN A VOCAL DUEL BETWEEN CARRIE AND KELLY! NO COMPITITION..
shylah says:
michael!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHH…i couldnt have explained that any better…you are right on the money!!…im so glad someone knows their facts :)
shylah says:
TEAM CARRIE…i forgot to address you as well when i addressed michael both of you rock and so so so right!!
Noah says:
See the problem with Carrie fans is they can’t stand Carrie competing with ANY OTHER artist. It makes them CRAZY! They can’t stand it when CU loses..
It don’t matter who the artist is, Taylor, Kellie, Miranda, Kelly Clarkson… Look how they act here on the blog and the boards… They all go rabid crazy… lol
Personally I think it’s funny as all get out!
Carrie has virtually disappeared all year and this is July the fans are all having rabid fan withdrawls.. lol
Noah says:
Nope Michael and shylah you both are wrong, carrie isn’t the best vocalist between the two.. I believe carrie has a SSsss speech lisp and Kellie doesn’t… You can really notice it in her last single which was ‘I told you so’ cu really has to pick her songs carefully because of it.
alicia says:
LOL, K. Nice response you made there.
To the person who said Kelly has not scanned 10 million albums… think again.
According to Billboard, Kelly has sold 10.1 million albums in the United States, and 20+ million worldwide.
Also, to the person who said versatility is not important, you obviously don’t know much about the voice. A large amount of versatility is very rare, and Kelly is one of those rare examples.
Carrie can sing any genre she likes, but she ALWAYS makes it sound country-ish. I’ve seen her SCOM cover, and honestly, I thought it was pretty mediocre. Her voice DEFINITELY does not fit the song at all. It was far too clean, and sounded pop-ish and country (as I stated). If she’s going to see a classic like that, she needs to add a little roughness to her voice.
Just because someone SINGS all different types of genres, doesn’t necessarily mean they master every single one. And, trust me, Kelly does master every genre I’ve seen her sing.
alicia says:
And, before I get attacked again, I would just like to state that I AM a Carrie fan. I have bought both of her albums, and have seen her live twice.
She is a fantastic singer, but (obviously), I think Kelly is the superior singer.
Cynthia O says:
To Alicia: EXACTLY! :D Couldn’t have said it better myself.
hayden says:
that is your opinion alicia and you are entitled to it, but i have to say that carrie’s voice is so much pure then kelly’s and id much rather hear carrie sing then kelly.
kelly is really great and although i too am a fan im a bigger carrie fan because her voice is clearly melodic and hypnotizing its wonderful.
Rita says:
That is terribly unkind Noah.
hayden says:
by the way alicia, i think carrie sang “Sweet child of mine” the way she should have sang the song it was amazing live…..and also she sang “i’ll remember you” by skid row and sebastian bach said in regards to her performance: “carrie if you ever read this, ROCK ON and congrats on all your well-deserved success! You are very talented and I am 100% honored that you are singing this song!! Sounds incredible and I wish you all the best!!” this is coming from the heavy metal singer himself, if she did the original singer proud and he was honored…that says a lot…she does rock that stage and no it isnt always countryish.
shylah says:
oh noah you know absolutely nothing about us “carrie fans”..obviously this is just a poor judgement on your part…funny thing is a lot of us here are kelly fans too we just prefer carrie…and YES carrie is and always will be the better vocalist of the two that doesnt make us wrong its our preference and choice and opinion and how can that be wrong?…if you prefer kelly then thats your opinion and i would never say you were wrong…perhaps you are the one who is the rabid fan ??????…please play nice.
oh one more thing “really” noah a ssss lisp and she picks her songs carefully…thats pretty low and thats a silly lie…probably the silliest thing ever said on here…theres no need to make up things..now whos the one being rabid here?
gisselle says:
NOAH - are you an expert on carrie fans or something?
“See the problem with Carrie fans is they can’t stand Carrie competing with ANY OTHER artist. It makes them CRAZY! They can’t stand it when CU loses”..
NOT TRUE..carrie doesnt need to compete anymore, she has made her point loud and clear and shes definitely an artist to be taken seriously…her vocals are off the hook, her carreer is incredible, she is one of music’s finest…so you see theres no need to compete anymore she is already respected, i thought i would educate you on how carrie fans are since i am one of them, we are not threatened by any other talented artist because she already has her foot solid in this industry.
nice try but no her fans dont get all crazy like you claim, thats nonsense
alexia says:
MISS C-A-R-R-I-E U-N-D-E-R-W-O-O-D….HANDS DOWN, END OF STORY, PERIOD…NO ANDS IFS AND BUTS..THATS THE WAY IT IS..
:) :) :) :) :) BABY!! LOVE YAH CARRIE FANS….:) :)
carmen says:
ughhhhh im so tired of this….kelly vs carrie BS…and the kelly fans (not all) seem to be attacking carrie…WHY?? i love both of them and i cant choose because kelly is phenominal behind the mic and carrie is a genius no doubt, they both sound incredible and their voices are different its whatever your in the mood for kind of thing with them but neither one is better they both are up there in range and i appreciate and have great respect for them both i WILL NOT put one down over the other…i love them both why are some of you trying to bring them down…enough already with the i hate carrie or i hate kelly….their is enough room in this world for amazing wonderful incredible talent….
Kim says:
I don’t like the idea of a Carrie/Kelly duet, not because I hate either one (though I personally prefer Carrie) but because I don’t think their voices would blend together too well.
I’d love to see Carrie do a duet with David Cook though.
Dustin says:
OMG! That idea would be AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Carrie & Kelly EVER went on tour together I would go in debt to see as many shows as possible! Those two girls ROCK!
jeremy09 says:
If you youtube the national anthem for both ladies;
Carrie’s is crisp and clear closest to perfection with the “land of the free” is impecable.
Kellie’s is amazing and soulful.
Youtube Sweet Child of Mine for both ladies;
Kellie’s is impressive, but does not hold her notes long enough but seems to be fooling around with the song then really performing it still good.
Carrie’s is just amazing that that country girl can rock out like that! She just kills the end of the song like no other female I have ever heard perform it.
Both are great and have their own special qualities to make them unique and great in their own right.
Mandy Lynn says:
The girl on the right is taller and has whiter teeth. She’s better.
mello yello…not good;)
Jennifer727 says:
Okay, I’m confused….people are comparing Carrie and Kelly’s versions of the Guns ‘n Roses song, Sweet Child of Mine. Now, is there a video where Kelly is singing this song sober! Cause the one video I’m thinking of is when she was pulled on stage…drunk…at a Metal Skool concert and began singing! Now if we’re comparing that performance to the one Carrie did completely sober, well that’s just not fair! Come on! :) You cannot be expected to sing perfectly when you’re concentrating on standing and not falling over!
And if you haven’t seen that one yet…I really suggest you look it up. It is very funny and made me an even bigger Kelly fan…especially since she is wearing a sweater vest to night club. Really….a sweater vest!? She did lose points with me for that. So while I forgive the drunken singing, I do not forgive the sweater vest. Who does that?! Ahhhhhhh, Kelly Clarkson!
But if there is a video where Kelly is singing Sweet Child of Mine sober, then let me know because you can’t take someone completely wasted and put on the spot (of course she’s fooling around….she’s chugging whisky like water! It’s immpressive!) and then compare it to someone sober and in concert who had time to prepare..
Shylah–Ha, ha…no worries about the Britney. I like her though…something about her makes me want to root for her. And yes, leave Carrie and Kelly alone!
Dustin says:
OK PEOPLE!!! RELAX!!!! Why are people fighting over here? GROW UP…. I mean they are great artists and it should not matter… the question was would it be nice to see these two sing together. My answer is yes, but I would rather see Garth Brooks sing a duet with Carrie first because she had stated that she has always dreamed of singing with him and he told her when she was a little girl that one day if she has a music career he would sing with her. I love it when peoples’ dreams come true and I would be quite happy for her.
p.s. please put who sings better aside. They are both great artists who can sing. By the way Simon was on Oprah and said that when he looks for future “next best things” (people who will be huge stars) he mentioned that he trys to look for people with star qualities and over-whelming talent like Leona Lewis and Carrie Underwood. He has also said many time Kelly is really great! So please give it a rest and stop disrespecting these people. They may be celebrities, but please don’t stop forgetting that they are people with feelings too!
Mandy Lynn says:
Duhhhhh, It’s Sweet Child O’ Mine. Not of. and Redmaz is right, there is more than one kind of country music out there, pop country and roots country. Even I know that! I like pop country more but i know there is more than that. I like CCR and Reckless kelly, but I don’t think that’s really called roots country.
time to learn something kids ;)
Jennifer727 says:
Hon, it’s called sarcasm….
1993 called….they want their slang back! :)
You are quite fun, Mandy! I bet you would totally rock Sweet Child ‘O Mine! And I bet you would sing it sober and with no sweater vest. :)
Linda says:
Carrie is good but she’s nowhere near Kelly. What you call a “strained” voice is what I call character. I like Kelly’s gothic, husky voice especially on Haunted. And don’t forget, she saaanggg Janis Joplin’s Piece of My Heart and totally ripped it to shreds.
Up To The Mountain? A masterpiece. ’nuff said.
Jennifer727 says:
Mandy…
HAHAHAHHAAAA!
Mandy Lynn says:
Careful now…you might cough up a lung. Try tightening the bolts on your neck. Maybe that will help.
mew-cuss ;)
Jordan says:
First, I would love to see a duet between these two ladies. I think that they could really pull that off.
Now, pertaining to all the talk about “putting to shame.” I would never have said anything, but it seems to me (for being a country site), that alot of people here think that Kelly has better vocals?! Well thats just 100% not true.
She screams live. Thats about as blunt as you can put it. Her songs are harder, and more rock/pop, and Carrie is Country…what do you expect? They are different genres, and so they have different voices. Carrie has a soft and sweet side, but can hit the high and power notes with ease and perfection. Kelly is a harder, more rock edge girl, and she hits the hight notes with more push and scream. Thats just how it goes.
How about we stop comparing them, cause they are two different people, and just start talking about how we want to see the duet.
Matt says:
I really like both girls and a duet would be great vocally. Carrie has an amazing voice and so does Kelly. I am looking forward to Carrie’s new album later this year.
janet says:
the fact that carrie and kelly are being compared says their both wonderful vocalist to stir up a debate with all thir fans here!!….
i love kelly and i love carrie but if i had to choose id pick carrie and that may be because im biased since i am the biggest carrie fan ever…but honestly i dont think they deserve to be compared because they are both amazing and different and should be recognized for their own tlaent because they both are powerhouse and they have some serious talent.
andie says:
i love carrie and i love kelly can’t we just appreciate these ladie’s for their special gifts and amazing vocals they both bless us all with..dont they both at least deserve our respects?? com’on people their both phenomal artist lets at least recognize them for that rather then dissecting them and ripping them for every little thing, they both have weaknesses and strenghts but theres no doubt they deserve to be praised for their vocals..each in their own right
miah says:
i love carrie underwood she is so beautifull and her voice is so crisp, clear and pure she has a beautifull tone to her and she is so gifted she really amazes me, ive seen her live and i was “wowed” i became an instant fan of hers.
i cant imagine anyone better than carrie, she is a powerhouse and she brings it everytime on stage im never disapointed when she sings..i love carries voice a lot better then kelly’s her voice is too raspy for my liking i love voices that can really soar with purity and with emotion i want to feel the song and carrie does that for me
Roxy Girl says:
There is no comparing the two.. Kelly is the best vocalist any genre period. sorry miah but carrie’s voice isn’t crisp clear and pure she has a problem with ‘S’s’ the SSSss give her lots of problems.. Just take a listen to her last single ‘I told you so’.. She should have not done that song.. carrie has to choose her songs carefully whereas kelly can sing anything at all..
jeremy09 says:
Yes there is video of Kelly doing SCOM in concert sober I believe it is in Vancouver and you can youtube it then you tube Carrie’s.
miah says:
“no i dont think so, sorry RoxyGirl”,that is your opinion about carrie’s vocals, you kelly fans (some) will make up the most outrageous things ever like her sssss…puleeease!…cant you give people credit besides your beloved kelly when credit is due instead you make up stupid things about other artists to try and make your kelly look better!!…kelly is super talented dont get me wrong but she does nothing for me you dont see me making up stories about her, because i can appreciate talent even if im not crazy about them just because you feel this way that doesnt make it fact about carrie’s voice its YOUR opinion and if i think carrie has a crip, clear and pure voice that is my choice and i love her voice and i will forever think that SHE IS THE BEST vocalist period just like you think kelly is the best period…your right there is no comparing th two, carrie is the best vocalist period.
dalila says:
“CARRIE UNDERWOOD IS THE BETTER VOCALIST OF THE TWO”
kelly is a rocker and if you like that then thats cool, but carrie makes me happy !!
“TEAM CARRIE,TEAM CARRIE,TEAM CARRIE,TEAM CARRIE,TEAM CARRIE”
Danielle says:
Ok, heres the thing. Apples and oranges. Simple put. Kelly has a different sound to her voice, she has, at some points a very raspy tone. WHICH I LOVE! Now don’t for a second think im not a Kelly fan.. Im a huge fan! Now, Carrie has a very refined country sound. Thats her niche. I don’t believe the question was who is the better singer. I don’t think you can actually come to a conclusion on that. Both ladies have done extremely well in their genre. Yes, Kelly did have a cross-over hit with Reba, and there are some songs of hers that would do great on country radio (someone already mentioned “Cry”) Im not sure if this applies to everyone, but when Carrie first won A.I her song “Some Hearts” was played on my local station. And trust me, they do NOT play any country what-so-ever. I believe, and just my opinion, if these two Magnificant singers, were to join forces, they would, for lack of better words, KILL IT! They would somehow find a song that they both could shine on. So I think the best thing we could do as listeners and fans, is to show support, and let the ladies know that we would LOVE to hear them together. Now stop the hatin’ and lets get these two phenoms together and watch the magic flow!!
andie says:
THANK YOU SO MUCH DANIELLE…YOU ARE 150% RIGHT!!…FINALLY SOMEONE WHO IS FAIR AND SEES IT FOR WHAT IT IS!!..:) FINALLY A RESPECTFUL PERSON!!…
“lets get these two phenoms together and watch the magic flow!!”….now thats what i’m talking about!!! :)
Danny says:
I think, at the end of the day, all it comes down to is preference. If you like a smooth, “disney” sound, then go listen to Carrie.
If you’re crazy about edgy, mature, artistic performances, then go for Kelly.
catalina says:
carrie isnt disney..that is insulting…she is a mature artist her vocals are more in the martina mcbride range and kelly’s more in the pink category..both are great and mature why you insulting carrie and calling her disney…she is nothing like that!
i would like to see a jordin sparks and carrie underwood duet their vocals are more capatible….
geeze no need to insult the artist!!
solongsowrong says:
To say Disney is insulting, is insulting to those who grew up listening and watching it, so retract your claws cat. Accept it for what it is.
Geeze, no need to insult an entire entertainment medium.
So what was the original question again? Oh yeah… So if Underwood and Clarkson did consider a duet, which song would be their best bet?…. I’d say “Rattlin Bones”, because this blog sure has rattled a few.
Kate says:
It’s interesting that when Kelly fans offer an explanation for Kelly’ sales or whatever we all are supposed to accept it but explanations are not accepted or simply ignored when they are offered for Carrie:
Kelly has sold more because she has 3 plus years to sell more than Carrie
Kelly sold more because she has 4 albums out to Carrie’s 2
Carrie won a Grammy for BEST NEW ARTIST, that is for ALL GENRES Kelly fans”
Kelly fans things like,
‘country category at awards show is less valid”. I could say the same thing for ‘pop’ category which is all Kelly has won in.
Kelly fans have to keep mentioning World Wide Sales because that is the only way Kelly’s numbers can compete with Carrie BUT they fail to mention that Carrie is NOT promoted in Europe and has never been there and STILL she sells records there..they fail to mention that Carrie has a smaller market (country) than Kelly’s market (pop/mainstream) and Carrie still outsells Kelly in the USA….
Nevertheless, I do believe that Carrie and Kelly are fabulous entertainers….
Redmaz says:
Yeah, like these people are going to know what “Rattlin’ Bones” is! These are slaves to Mainstream Pop Culture who can’t get past their Pop radio station. They’re not called “Mainstreamers” for nothing. Heck they don’t even know what Pop Music is. That term is used so much out of context around here they should be embarrassed, but they’re not, because they’re Mainstreamers! However a special credit to Mandy Lynn who seems to be the only one with some knowledge about today’s music scene. One person out of 200 posts isn’t the best, but it’s a start. Way to go Mandy! I’m a big fan of Reckless Kelly too.
As far as the two people who are the subject of this blog. My opinion is they are a couple of overexposed blow hards who I don’t care to ever here again, and since I control what I listen to…that’ll be my choice. However if they were to sing together, they would make millions of dollars for their handlers, and have a big Pop hit. Big #$@%$#@ deal, that’s what they’re supposed to do. They’re a commodity.
george says:
The sound at the cmts was aweful they even had to redo Brads video because when I watched it he sure didn’t sound like that it sucked. Oh and Leave Taylors noame out of this you people can’t stand it when Allison blogs about her but you can’t seem to leave her alone.Get a life and as far as the duet no thanks Carre bores me to sleep.
barb b says:
look out taylor and kelli
here comes carrie and kelly
and they can sing
george says:
YAWN!!!!!!
solongsowrong says:
They should know about “Rattlin Bones”, Red. It was talked about on a recent blog here. Oh wait, you’re right, what am I thinking…it was sandwiched in between two Alison blogs about Miley Cyrus and Facebook. Plus it was a blog that was actually about Country music. Why would any self respecting Pop Country mainstreamer want to read about that nonsense?
These fans foolishly want to compare two totally different Pop orientated artists, like it’s about some competition or something, that has absolutely nothing to do about music. The funny part about all this, is if these two would do a duet together, it could even be “Itsy Bitsy Spider”, and fans of both would flock to it, and rave about how wonderful it was, the best thing ever to come out, and how it would surely win every award available to it. Far as I’m concerned, when either of these two get 26 Grammy’s under their belt… an awards show that often does put different genres in the same category… then come around and tell me how good their music is.

Listening to Kelly is like looking at your own life. You can hear her struggles as a human being and I can relate well to that. It makes you a better person, crap and all.

Redmaz says:
Sometimes I forget most are radical Pop Culture fanatics, and not really all that much into today’s music scene.
Roger says:
Okay, watching AI Seasons 1 and 4, there is no doubt that Kelly has a much ranger vocal and pipes than Carrie. Carrie went country because she wouldn’t have done well in pop. I have gone to Kelly’s concert, and the girl can definitely sing. Someone mentioned that Carrie will be around for years, so good for her. Isn’t Kelly hitting 10 years in showbiz as well? And she won three years before Carrie? Hmm…Carrie is known in Asia, South America, Europe, etc, while Carrie can only rock in the US.
lindsay says:
stupid just stupid…carrie decided to sing country because she is a country girl and this is where her heart is,she feels this is who she is, it wasnt because she wouldnt have done well in pop, so country was her last resort, that shows your ignorance and clearly you dont know what your talking about, her song “before he cheats” is a pop country song and her record producers wanted it more pop so that it would do well on pop radio as well, she said no she wasnt making any changes on it and it still did extremely well in pop and got a lot of recognition in that genre, so obviously carrie going pop wouldnt have been a problem, “before he cheats” was one of her #1 songs..carrie loves country and has said that she doesnt want to crossover to pop music..if she did she would do very well there and be even more successfull as an artist but country is what she has decided to stick her heart is country.if you think carrie will not have a future in music you are dillusional so whats your point that kelly is hitting her 10 yr mark hmm?? and carrie won 3 years later and your point is…..????ive been to both concerts kelly and carries and both can sing, both are great and amazing, and they both are different type of singers…both will be here for a long time…carrie can rock anywhere she just hasnt been promoted outside the US…big deal who cares?..your lost and confused.
lindsay says:
correction:….”country wasnt her last resort”…country is what she loves to sing…but if she wanted to sing pop she would do an amazing job because she is versatile.
Redmaz says:
…and the confusion continues. To Roger and lindsay, (especially Roger, but to both), You seem to be confused as to what Pop music is. Pop Music is not an individual genre of music. Pop Music is an industry that consists of many genres including Rock, Hip Hop, R&B, Rap, Adult Contemporary and yes, even Country music. So Roger, your statement “Carrie went country because she wouldn’t have done well in pop” makes no sense at all. CU has always been a Pop act. She is a Pop Country singer. To lindsay…yes BHC is a Pop Country song. So is everything else that has been released to radio by CU handlers. She is not played in or even recognized in the rest of today’s Country music scene. She is a Pop Culture celebrity, nothing else. The only crossover possible here would be from Pop Country to Roots Country, and that hasn’t happened, and from my experience I think I can safely say it never will.
carrieFAN says:
carrie and kelly are BOTH phenominal singers who rock their stage, they get their crowd going, they have so much fun doing what they were BOTH born to do, “sing”. they bless their fans with their God given talent, is this even relevant all the disrespect that many of you are posting toward both ladies?.i dont think neither of these ladies deserve to be treated this way and i think both of them would be disgusted because they are classy ladies.
they write their music, carrie plays a guitar and piano im not sure if kelly plays? they both sing beuatifully their careers are definitely impressive and deserving since they both work so hard, kelly and carrie have my respects and my admiration they have come along way from american idol and they have both prooved their more than just contestant winners their the real deal. so why are we fighting about who’s better? its more about preference then better. i prefer carrie but just because i prefer carrie doesnt mean im going to try and take anything away from kelly because kelly doesnt deserve that…she deserves respect for her talent and her accomplishments…these ladies are BOTH special and im glad we have them both in music we are lucky.
lindsay says:
redmaz -
look im not going to pretend like im an expert in music because im not. ive listened to root country music before like loreta lynn, barbara mandrell and merle…and so on and no disrespects to anyone who loves this kind of music but it isnt for me i just cant get into it, no doubt they are incredible singers and i have so much respect for them but that wasnt in my time it feels old to me and i just cant listen to it, but carrie’s music “pop country” is more me and i love it and i relate to her as well, so then if everything she releases is pop country then i guess im a fan of that style then because i also love shania, faith, martina and leann…even some taylor..i just dont like root country music and for my benefit and the many that love pop country i hope she never goes “root country”
i have nothing against it i just dont like it..carrie isnt everyones cup of tea but she is mine!!
Redmaz says:
That’s fair enough. This wasn’t really about a persons personal preference or anything, just basic music fundamentals. However…you might, or might not like to know that Roots Country is NEW Country too. Just as new as Pop Country is. So for you to have the preconceived notion that all Roots Country is old music, you are mistaken. It’s NEW too with NEW artists, established artists, and our legends who are still making NEW music.
lindsay says:
actually i lied, if carrie crossed over to root country i still would like it because its carrie i love anything she does..i heard her sing an eddie arnold song before, “make the world go away” and tammy wynette song “stand by your man”…it was beautifull.
lindsay says:
i can give you that redmaz, like i said i dont know a lot about country so i aint going to pretend like im an expert in this genre, to tell you the truth ive been a pop fan such as britney spears, beyonce, jordin sparks, kelly clarkson, (never rap or hip hop rappers crap) but i also liked shania and faith and then carrie came into the scene and now i follow her, but because i was curious about “root country”…i explored a little bit and i listened to some of the great legends out there and they are incredible but it just wasnt me you know?..i know that there are some root country artist now who sing the way country was originally meant to be sung, but i cant see myself getting into it, if you have any suggestions who is worth the tim please feel free to let me know im open to reccommendations…
Redmaz says:
lindsey, it’s nice to see some straight forward honesty around here. After looking at your list, I don’t think it would be fair of me to suggest some of the real hard core Country artists of today. They might fall into that “too country” category, which may turn you off from the Americana/Roots Music scene. I see that you listed all female singers, so here are a few female Americana/Roots singers that I like, and maybe you would like to check out. Since there are hundreds of these Americana/Roots artists, here are just a few that first came to mind.
Danielle Talamini
Sarah Borges
Carrie Rodriguez
Modern Day Drifters
Holly Williams
Anne McCue
Probably the easiest place to check out their music and what they’re all about is on their myspace page. If you are interested, I could turn you on to some Texas/Red Dirt Music too. Thanks for being an open minded music listener.
Jason says:
OMG - - I can’t believe you guys have nothing better to do than bicker back and forth about who is better, who has the better technique, who is doing what right - wrong - etc. I guess the same could be said for me since I actually took about 30 minutes of my life and wasted them reading all these comments. To sum it all up, we are all entitled to our opinions. I may not agree with all of them, but just the same we are all entitled. So don’t discount what someone else says or thinks and move on because you will look back one day and think where did my life go, and I for one don’t want to think it was wasted on something like this.
lindsay says:
thanks sor the suggestions redmaz, i will check these women out…yah never know i may end up liking it we’ll see, every artist deserves a listen!…thanks for the compliment i try to be open about music because music is beautifull!! :)
kristina says:
im having a problem here with this debate, why?? because i absolutely “love, love, love” kelly and carrie they are my favorite girls and i cant put one down over the other because like many have pointed out, they dont deserve the scrutiny thats going on here!!..as a fan of both ladie’s i am insulted by the rude comments against carrie and kelly….they are so inspiring and such talented young women they both bring something to music, they are so different yet people are trying to bring them down. carrie has a clear harminizing power to her voice her voice can go on for miles and kelly’s is more of an edgy rock voice yet when she belts out those high notes its like “wow” her voice is awesome..i appreciate both of them for their individuality and talent and their unique style without kelly and carrie it would suck and they both make me happy. the question was “So if Underwood and Clarkson did consider a duet, which song would be their best bet?”…it wasnt who is better??….pay attention to the queation why do we have to fight about kelly and carrie when their both equally talented in their own right!!…
Peter says:
Carrie is a good singer, but would never drown out Kelly…ever. The duet would be amazing, but it would not be straight country…it would have to be just a simple pop ballad…
KoolBeans says:
That would be AMAZING!! They are my two favorite artists and I would LOVE IT if they did a duet together!! Ahhhh! Make it happen girls!
Natolee says:
I think it would be awesome..
but then again it might be horrible!!
I think it all depends on what song they sing!
nd i have no idea what they should sing..
hmmm???
alexia says:
i think they wouldn’t be good in a country duet, but if they did a pop duet i think it would be awesome!
Jack says:
Any comment about the relative power of Kelly and Carrie’s voices is ridiculous. Without being able to hear them side by side WITHOUT AMPLIFICATION there is no way to tell who has the more “powerful” voice.
mikayla says:
i would love it too KollBeans!!…this would be something id been hoping for a long time…:)MY 2 FAVORITE strong woman united and making beautifull music together its a fan’s dream come true !!
anyone who is still on the kelly vs. carrie thing “grow up” why does everything have to be a competition last i heard they both won the competition and both of them our american idols for a reason!!!….if you are a kelly or carrie fan and you are bashing one or the other then “SHAME ON YOU”….for insulting these 2 they are some of music finest out there!!!…
mikayla says:
oops i meant “Koolbeans”
Natolee says:
I think that kristina girl up there
said it all..
i mean this might be something that is trying
to start all kinds of drama crap!!
i hate that!!
why can’t they just leave them alone??!!
kristina says:
THANKS…Natolee!!…i wonder why people have to be rude about this, if they read this blog (no wonder they stay away from msg. boards) i think they would both be hurt,of the things that are being said, they are nice sweet good down to earth people and they work super hard, it isnt fair what people say its sickening. i think if you asked kelly and carrie what they both thought about each other they would say nice things about each other, their is no rivalry between the two.
CountryChick says:
I think kelly is 10 times better than carrie. because carrie trys way too hard and shows out. i do not think a duet with the two will be good because they both have strong voices and i think it would not be a good idea. plus carrie has a bad attude to do a duet with anyone that good.
Nellie says:
I think they are both great vocalists. Carrie and Kelly are both so nice and down to earth. I’m sure they would have a lot of fun making a duet together.
CountryChick says:
of course they would say good things cause no one wants a bad rep! duh!!!!!!
Mollie says:
There is no way that Carrie would have to bring down her vocals for Kelly. Kelly has such strong vocals. I think that the duet would be really cool idea i don’t think either one would over power the other.
angela says:
well i like kelly and carrie but i think that kelly did great with reba mcentire and reba is my favorite singer ever and she is awesome shes my idol but if kelly can sing with reba then why not try with carrie
CountryChick says:
yall are crazy
Andrew says:
lol I agree with CountryChick
Alison Bonaguro says:
I don’t delete posts. Not sure how that happens. And as for starting a controversy, as some have suggested, that was not my intent. I really did just wonder which song would make a good duet. Both artists have so many hits, though, it would be impossible to choose!
Danielle says:
“Before he Cheats” would be a great duet. I disagree with this article and some of the posters though. Kelly definitely has the stronger voice. Carrie’s is good but it’s not comparable to Kelly’s.
Jenna says:
please please please!!! that would be like a masterpiece! a lot of fans have wanted them to take a picture together for so long but they never have yet! The one in this blog isn’t really a pic of them… they were just standing by each other hahaha. They are the best idols!
Carriefan4ev says:
i dont know how this would turn out! it would be interesting to hear tho! i love carrie! i like kelly.. but im not into her type of music. I definetly think carrie has the better and stronger voice tho! :)
CountryChick says:
and by the way everyone else on here is sayng their opinions so why cant i
Kris says:
These two girls can really sing. I’m not sure which song they should do together..there are so many good ones but I would sure buy whatever song they sang because I am sure it would be great. I haven’t heard as much country from Kelly as I have Carrie but they are both awesome!
Jackie says:
I would love to see Carrie do a duet. She has amazing vocals. I love the duet she did with Jamie O’Neal here on CMT. I listen mostly to country music but Kelly has a great voice so she and Carrie could really do something special. I hope they consider it.
Elizabeth says:
I think it would be awsome! I love to listen to carrie’s & kelly’s music. they are good singers & have a great voice! I believe it would be carrie’s first duet…right! Yes think they should go for it!
Phillip says:
Carrie is awesome. I think she could do a duet with anyone and it sound great! Kelly is really awesome, too. I think it would very interesting to see these two release a duet. Now, if we could only choose a song.
CarriesThe Best says:
i really dont care for a duet with carrie and kelly. i think carrie would sound best with martina mcbride, or faith hill, these woman are really talented.
CarriesThe Best says:
kelly would sound great with chris daughtry, pink, or alicia keys…they are also all amazing.
Carrie&KellyFan says:
you guys, stop fighting please, i hate reading hate mail, about my 2 favorites singers ever!…
kelly and carrie are some of the best no doubt in my opinion and i enjoy both of them because, on one hand i have a country girl who has a voice that soars and anything she sing “IN MY OPINION” sounds fabulous!…and then i have a girl who sings way different then carrie her voice is raspy(love that) yet her voice is also clear and pure just like carries but different, what i love is when you hear carrie or kelly sing you know who’s singing they both have distinctive voices…to point out in all the mix of singers.
i have 2 wonderful artist whom i can enjoy who are so different…its like i have the best of both worlds!
CARRIE AND KELLY ROCK AND THEY ARE BOTH AMAZING ARTISTS AND PEOPLE….PERIOD END OF STORY!!
CountryChick says:
Sounds good to me!! u make sense!! they both are good!
Carrie&KellyFan says:
thanks…
CountryChick says:
ur welcome! no sense of fighting when we dont know each other and there is nothing to lol! crazy! o well sorry to jordan.
jordan says:
your right i was rude. i got a little rattled because i am a “HUGE” carrie fan i love her too pieces, and i dont think she has a bad attitude at all, she is really shy people mistake that for snobby but i think shes a sweet girl im sure she has her moments we all do…(i was an example of that in my earlier post to you)…but over all shes a sweet good southern girl with honest morals and values just a good role model just like miss kelly is as well, and thats why i also love her but i happen to love carrie more, so i just was offended by your comment of carrie having a bad attitude, ive met her and she was super super nice to me!…anyway i apologize CountryChick we all have our preferences and im cool with that and i respect that if kelly is 10x’s better to you then thats awesome each artist blesses their fans in some way or another and thatss what its about, music is a beautifull way to connect w/ an artist and obviously thats what carrie and kelly do for all of us!!. :) i just didnt like the rude comment. at thats why i bit your head off, that wasnt nice and im not mean so i do apologize….”peace”
CountryChick says:
okay cool peace
JR says:
Im also a big Carrie Underwood fan,Carrie is the best, kelly cant keep up with carrie, carrie will blow her away, you rock Carrie
Jennifer and Allie says:
I believe that Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson would be a great duo. The first reason why they’d be good is because of the contrast in voices. Kelly has the more rockside and she has an amazing powerhouse voice while Carrie’s voice is strong, but she has a more sensitive and mellow side to her voice. The contrast in voices would be a terrific duo. And i would much prefer to bring a song to the table when Carrie would duet a song like Kelly’s. I believe they would be great and because of their success in each of their kinds of music, I believe that their hit would go very far in the charts.
emeral says:
jennifer and allie…very well said !!..i agree.
emeral says:
i love carrie i think she is soooo beautifull and she has a cute personality i have seen and met her at a meet and greet and shes so humbling and its great to see that stardom hasnt affected who she is,she was real as real and genuine as someone can be, after meeting her i became an even bigger fan (if that was even possible) she really is super super nice. as for kelly unfortunately i have not had the pleasure of meeting her but i really want too sooo bad, shes seems so fun and cool and down to earth she is also and always has stayed true to herself, i love her outgoing bubbly personality. ive seen both in concert and to be fair, theres no comparing the two…they both can SIIIIIINNNNNNNG..THEY HIT THE HIGHEST NOTES your like “how the heck do they do that”..kelly is soulful and carrie is more smooth kind of voice..but man they are in a league of their own because when they rock out they rock out…in my mind their is no comparing the two they both will leave you in awe, they are class acts, professionals, hard working, talented, song writers, and they kick some serious butt when they sing….they are streong women and i think we need more women like them…to me kelly and carrie are tied because they are as genuine and deserve to be on top in their own right!!
Joe says:
I saw Reba & Kelly in concert last November (2 Worlds 2 Voices) and it was the loudest concert I’ve ever been to. There’s no way Carrie would have to bring her vocals down. It’s obvious to me that she may have trouble keeping up with Kelly because Kelly is definitely a much stronger vocalist with a greater range. I think they would sound good together, tho.
destiny says:
i think its more style and preference. for me i prefer a voice like carrie in which its soft at times yet powerful in range but its still stays smooth clear and melodic, for me kelly sings great but personally i dont like the strong loud voice its too much for me, i like it better when it soars but softly…do i make sense? i guess it matters to the individual and what is pleasing to the ear…carrie works for me.
carebearsWithAttitude says:
i think they should sing a heavy metal song and just rock out…ive seen carrie rock out and kelly…that would be quite the show…and definitely entertaining, any suggestions on which metal song would be a hit?
OldGoat34 says:
I think this would be Great for them to do a Duet. But would it be for a record? A single on one or both of their Albums?or just a download say for a charity? In any case we have two realy great female vocalists no matter which one you preffer I preffer Carrie cause she’s country and has it all.looks personality voice and presence. The song choice would also be very important.A cover of a Old Great song like “Crying”or would it be a new #1 destined song.A ballad probably preffered to show off both their Vocal Chops. But something Hot and Quick might be good to downplay the vocals.I know they both can do Great Duets so this could be great and I’d love it.
Trea says:
i think itd be great! i love carrie underwood.. and kellys vocals couldn’t even touch carries, but i DO think that their voices would blend well and create a great song! my vote is YES!
jessica cox says:
i think that would be so awesome! Carrie underwood has good vocals. Kelly Clarkson has some , too. i think it would be great !!!!
Plus, im a big fan of both carrie and kelly
Oj Wing says:
Not sure about the duet. I think Carrie has a much stronger voice. I used to realy like Kelly, but she changed. Anyway they would be better than Pickler and Swift!!
Autumn says:
Carrie and Kelly r both pheonomeal vocalists! I think it would b great, but i also think Carrie would have the advantage. She has the stronger voice, but Kelly’s relly good 2!
xmenenherosmutantx says:
i like both carrie and kelly.they are by far the best american idols.i didn’t even watch the show until after they won and then i watched american idol rewind,1 and 4 seasons with kelly and carrie.they both deserved to win.carrie is my favorite, but i like kelly also.i think that it would be great if they did a duet,i have wanted this for awhile now.they both seem really nice and great to their fans.i have all of both their cds.they are great.can’t wait to get carries new cd.i hope that they do sing together.i hope that its a fast song where they both can jam out.kelly can jump around aon stage like she does and carrie can do her swagger thing that she does.i would love to see it.carrie and kelly rock.
Karen K. says:
I think a duet with Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood would be a great idea!! We all know that Carrie has a rock side and does a great job of it!! I wanted a duet with Randy Travis for “I Told You So” and guess what they did it together on American Idol and it was amazing to see a younger generation get introduced to a song 20 years old!! Yes, Carrie and Kelly would do an amazing job if they did a duet together!!
celine says:
i loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove carrie’s voice she is unbelieveable she sings effortlessly, ive heard her sing live, “i told you so” and “i know you wont”, and “ever, ever after”, all very strong songs you would have to have strong vocals to hit those high notes and she does it perfectly, those songs were made for her. she can really sing anything and its always amazing. whoever she duets with obviously will be out of this world.
celine says:
i forgot to say i love kelly too her voice is more rocker and carries more of a harmony singer i dont know how well this would be but i am curious…to magnificent amazing singers = musical masterpiece
celine says:
StopTrashingCarrie -
do you notice that people who love carrie also love kelly, and those that love kelly are rude to carrie?? whats up w/ that? they cant even acknowledge other talent besides kelly…perhaps their threatened.
“CARRIE ROCKS AND WHEN YOUR THAT GREAT THE WOLVES COME OUT TO ATTACK”…
Simon says:
Kelly has the most powerful vocals, by far!
Simon says:
Hahaha Celine you have it backwards. It’s the rabid Carrie fans that are rude and can’t acknowledge Kelly as the better talent or ANYONE else for that matter.. and believe me there are a lot of greater talents than both Kelly and carrie… hahaha
Jane Sullivan says:
I think a duet with Kelly and Carrie would be great. The only problem I have, is, Kelly needs to do something with her hair, make-up, well just her whole apperance…she looked awful last week on So You Think You Can Dance…
She is a beautiful girl, but it’s like she doesn’t care how she looks anymore…Come on Kelly, bring it up a little.
celine says:
no simon i disagree with you. there may be some respectful kelly fans somewhere in this world but the majority on this blog do not exist. and your “hahaha’s” dont bother me by the way.
i cant speak for all carrie fans but myself, i think there are many many talented people out there who can sing really beautifull and are some of the best and carrie to me is one of them, are there greater talents then carrie? im sure there are carrie herself acknowledges that too, but that is up to the fan to decide because everyone has their opinions of who’s the best to them and to me carrie is the best, however there are artists who i do put in carrie’s category, such as kelly c., leona lewis, christina, martina, leann, alicia keys and so forth the lists goes on, their is more then one who can be the best.i dont care if people think kelly can whip carrie on the stage that is their right and choice, i just dont want to read the rude and disrespectful posts.
eveline says:
can we all just agree that they both have talent, who opposes to to kelly or carrie not having talent…
Anthony M. says:
I think that would be something new if they did a duet. But I have always wished that Carrie Underwood and Kenny Chesney would get together for something. They are both hot and popular and would make a great couple as perfomers and I even believe in a relationship.
kelly says:
A duet would be intresting to hear. I don’t think that Carrie would drown out Kelly at all. Kelly can really sing high notes.
bella says:
CARRIE FANS: our beautifull and wonderful carrie will have her new third album, COMPLETED and we will be able to enjoy her new music once again it comes to us on Nov. 3rd it was announced on CMT…
Fans save the date and remember to support carrie she has the best fans ever!
stephanie says:
shut up!!… yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeea
ive been wondering when miss carrie was going to finish and announce a date for us!!….another hitmaker!!
stephanie says:
i love both carrie and kelly, there both great girls, i love their personalities and the way they carry themselves always classy. if carrie and kelly had a duet, i guarantee you this would be HUGE in sales and on the charts, kelly and carrie have the most loyal faithful awesome fans and im one of them!!…i dont care who is better or who isnt for me that term “better” doesnt exist to me because they are both incredibly talented and the sky is the limit for both ladies.

Stephanie, I agree with you 100%!
musicfan says:
It’s not a bad idea. I think they can compliment each other’s voices. I like Kelly’s music more than Carrie’s but hey, they’re both amazing artists.
Rogeezy says:
Seriously, if you appreciate music, then just appreciate both singers. Just because your opinion says one is better than the other doesn’t mean that you’re right. Grow up, and let’s promote and appreciate American artists like we should.
Rogeezy says:
By the way, both artists are doing well. I have never really been a country fan, but I can listen to Carrie Underwood’s first album. I guess the question is, if both did compete on AI at the same time, who will win?
barb b says:
goldie it seems to me that you are jealous

Kelly Clarkson is the best singer of this decade. I have all of her albums, and she has the best vocals. Her voice could give an icecube chills. I would not like a duet with these two singers. Kelly’s music, voice, and personality are amazing and way more interesting than the fake, plastic, and boring Carrie. I only have Carrie’s first album, and I now use it for a coaster on my coffee table. Her voice is nasally and twangy. NO DUET, please……..

thanks allison for deleting my posts ! if your going to delete my posts be fair and delete “sassy’s” as well since, she/he whatever it is is being offensive, or perhaps you like it when they put down carrie so you leave the hateful carrie posts up…so typical of you…we all know you dont like carrie and you get your thrills when they are rude to her…
your not playing fair.

if your going to delete one posts make sure you delete the others as well who are rude why are you picking on me?. i read a lot of posts who are way way more disrespectful then what i posted and i wasnt even disrespectful..i was just making a point how carrie and kelly deserve more respect then this story because they are being pulled apart which i think they are both great in their own right and they shouldnt be treated this way!..is it because i said this was an offensive blog???…..hmmmmmm i guess you like picking on people who are here to defend thse woman.

carrie is the wealthiest idol of all idols not my fact, forbes has announced that. carrie has won numerous awards, and most recently she has won “entertainer of the year” an award thats dominated by males its a huge deal if a woman wins, its almost not expected.she is the first country singer EVER and first idol EVER to have 10 consecutive number ones in a row..her talent surpasses a lot of singers these days she sings with so much purity i would put her in the categories of martina mcbride or leann rimes before i put her with kelly, their voices are totaly different to compare its just silly. say what you will but shes one of the first artists from idol to break records and her career speaks for itself, she does have the whole package that kelly doesnt, kelly may sing wonderfully and have a bubbly personality but she lacks in the looks dept…carrie has the whole package going on shes super super talented, beautifull, likeable and she has the “it” factor..shes very very successfull no one can take that away from her they can sure try but i dont think carrie is tossing and turning at night over what haters think of her…haters can talk crap it doesnt change anything i think haters are intimidated and threatened by her because they know of her capabilities and they cant stand someone being better then their precious kelly, her career is very promising and she will be here for a long time shes country’s “all american girl”…so deal
