Get Taylor Swift's "American Girl" Today
Taylor Swift writes her own songs. That much, we knew. But when she decides to take on a rare cover song, she can make it her own before she even gets to the chorus. She's done that with this live cover of Tom Petty's "American Girl." You can get it as a download, a ringtone or even a ringback if you like it so much you want to share it with the world. The song is literally about a decade older than Swift, having been released back in the late '70s. But it's one of those classics everybody knows. Even Def Leppard covered it. So this song is inevitably what happens when young country artists spend any quality time with old rock stars.

Not one of my favorite covers by Taylor, “Untouchable” was definately her best and hard to equal let alone beat. But this one is growing on me, and thanks Alison for bringing it to the attention of those of us that will enjoy it. I do think it shows that Taylor is growing as an artist and that is something everyone that loves music is glad to see.

Taylor’s cover of Umbrella was her best cover. This was an okay cover. No one is going to be able to touch the original, especially when it is etched in the opening scene of Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Taylor puts out an album every six months [if you count the DVD CMT Crossroads with Def Leppard June 16th] so what is Taylor going to give us for Christmas?

That’s all I need to hear - is November 11th a lucky day, or will Taylor surprise us.
Will album 3# outsell Fearless? It took me a week to find a store with Fearless in stock last Christmas, so I don’t expect her opening week will be limited to 592,000 for album #3.
I plan to buy album #3 on DAY #1 - how many albums will Walmart have in stock? I hate it when they run out…
