Scout's Honor, Dolly Parton Wore the Uniform
I was reading this charming story about Dolly Parton surprising a troop of 400 Girl Scouts, and I'm ashamed to say that the one fact that jumped out at me was that Parton wore a Girl Scout uniform. Now, I was a Girl Scout. My daughters were Girl Scouts. My niece is a Girl Scout. And I have to say that those stiff little green uniforms are made exclusively for the flat-chested. So I’d love to know what kind of alterations Parton had to have to fit into one. And was it low cut? And how’d she fit the sash over her chest? That's not the point of the story, I realize. It’s more about how she created a "Coat of Many Colors" patch, which a Scout can only earn after she has helped others then made a collage of what makes them special. "A person can make money, but money can't make a person," Parton told the scouts. She always seems to say just the right thing at just the right time. Even when she's doing it in a Girl Scout uniform.
