Kellie Pickler Doesn't Have a Monkey Anymore
It's true that Kellie Pickler did have a pet monkey for a while, as you may have heard in Bill Engvall's jokes during the CMT Music Awards last night. After some hard-hitting investigative reporting, CMT.com has learned that the former American Idol contestant doesn't have the monkey anymore.
"It became really challenging because she can't travel really well when we are on the bus," the singer told reporters backstage. "She couldn't fly and I had to go to L.A. for two to three weeks and work and they're illegal in California. So I didn't take her and plus I couldn't fly with her. My sister, Courtney, wanted one so bad. Well, I let her keep Ella the monkey while I was gone. And when I came back, Ella was so attached to Courtney. I mean, she wouldn't eat. She was depressed. And I said, ‘Courtney, would you like to be the mother of a monkey? Because she wants you to adopt her.' She's like, ‘Oh my gosh, please!' I was so glad because I knew she was going to be in good care. She comes and visits but she loves Courtney way more than me."
Of course, Pickler has plenty of other animals to keep her nest occupied: "I do have Moo Moo, my Chihuahua. He's here now. He goes with me everywhere. I have a cat Pickles. I got him when I first moved to Nashville. I got him from the animal shelter out in Franklin and he is on a diet right now because he weighs 17 pounds. I just got a Lab. She's great. Dogs and cats are easier than monkeys. I have a snake and that's the easiest animal you can have. Feed her like once a week and that's it. You don't have to take her out for a walk or anything."

Kellie Pickler and Taylor Swift are fantastic role models. Anyone who says differently is simply ignorant.
Anyone who knows anything about Taylor and Kellie knows that they devote great amounts of time and money to charity, live good clean lives, stay out of trouble and away from drugs, show respect for the legends that came before them, and are as passionate about their fans as the fans are about them.

What a dumb thing to say. She got it because she loves animals and wanted a monkey just like anyone else who wants pets. It just didn’t work out and her sister wanted it. If everything in life worked out perfectly, Shania wouldn’t be divorced, the Dixie Chicks would still be getting played and Kellie would always hit #1 on radio. Duh most stars don’t miss chances for publicity as it’s a big part of the business and sales and it’s why everyone has paid publicists. Kellie gets more publicity than most because she’s a big star, isn’t shy, she’s friendly, open and talkative and better on TV than everyone. That’s why she hosted the CMT awards and many other big shows like CMA fest, Dick Clark’s new year’s eve, etc. Like Ellen said, Kellie could do her show without her. Other superstars who have been in the business longer have had far more publicity than Kellie and no longer need as much or they are working on new albums and not promoting tours, so we don’t see them as much now.

Kellie certainly can sing and very well. She’s one of the best singers and she sings pure country songs at least as well as and maybe better than Shania. Maybe they will tour together and we’ll call it the Twain machine. Obviously Kellie and Taylor are outstanding role models to many young girls since many parents say they are and take their young girls to their concerts, just like they did when Shania was touring and she brought them up on stage to dance with her. Disgusting? LOL Not even close.

Shania has worn the same type of clothes Kellie wears. Who delivered the best performance on the 2007 CMA Awards, her very first awards show performance? Who has the talent to win the CMT Performance of the Year award for the best live TV performance in all of country music? Who has the most best new artist nominations? Kellie Pickler. Shania would be proud.

I was a fan of Kellie’s when she was on AI, but I have become less enthused about her…becoming part of the Swift machine.
Funny because you really sound like someone who was never a fan and quite the opposite actually. Kellie has gotten better since Idol so it’s strange that anyone would become less of a fan since. Every fan I know has become more of a fan since Idol.
How is she becoming part of the “Swift machine?” They became friends on the Paisley tour, co-wrote a song and are currently touring together. Kellie toured with Brad Paisley and Rascal Flatts the past 2 years. Now if Kellie were part of the “Swift machine,” all her songs would hit #1 on radio. Since she hasn’t hit top 10 she’s nowhere close to becoming part of the Swift machine. Kellie is her own machine, the Pickler express, the little engine that could. Her songs are good enough to be #1 on radio and she’s talented enough to headline a big tour but just hasn’t had the same big breaks as Taylor. Sort of like when Shania started working with producer Mutt Lange, signing with Big Machine is the best thing that ever happened to Taylor’s career and any new artist in recent history. She had the freedom to turn down a deal with a bigger label.

So? She was the best and in the top 2 in votes most of that season and isn’t she the best country artist in all 8 seasons of AI who didn’t win? Yes and she sang country better than everyone. Miranda placed fourth on Nashville Star. Kellie and Miranda are more talented and doing better than most of the winners and everyone else. The winner and runner-up on Kellie’s season got more votes from rabid fans but made average albums so they were quickly dropped from the label and Kellie sold more than both of them. The fourth and sixth placers are the most talented, made the best albums, perform the best concerts and sell the most tickets, so they are the true winners and recording artists. The cream of the crop rises to the top and like I said Kellie has gotten better since AI.

For the record, I was a HUGE KP fan when she was on Idol. I, personally, did not like her “transition” after the show. People need to think long and hard before they chose to purchase/adopt a pet. It is a living being that is dependent on you. It is a life. Far too often people get a pet that they are not ready or able to care for and that animal suffers for it.
