Brad Paisley Wins and Twitters From Stage
So that's what they were doing in their seats. Listening and watching, yes. But also Twittering. Not just the audience but the artists themselves. I remember a day and age when you weren't even allowed to bring cell phones into the building during awards shows for fear your quiet little ringtone would ruin the entire live broadcast. But at last night's (June 16) CMT Music Awards show in Nashville, everyone around me was locked in that telltale chin-to-chest position, thumbs blazing as they let the world know what was happening right that second. Dierks Bentley must've been doing it, because his last tweet was: "ok ... the host just called me 'dierk' ... besides that and that kiss, it was a great night! thanks to all the fans." (The kiss was from Melissa Peterman -- host of CMT's The Singing Bee -- but more on that later.) Martina McBride wrote: "Did Brad Paisley just compare me to that puppet?! i might just have to kick his ass!" And the Paisley himself did it while he was onstage to say, obviously, "Thanks so much!!!!!!!!! standing on stage in awards.. More later."

I watched the biggest POP music show masquerading as Country Music I’ve ever seen and this was also by Opry members who are supposed to preserve Country Music and the Grand Ole Opry.This was really a insult to Country Music Lovers.CMT should call itself PopMT.As it is they do little to promote Country Music everytime you go to CMT there is little chance you’ll see artists performing Country Music.Wake up our music is being hijacked by the Pop World since it no longer has a audience.

I love country music and I love watching the all of the country awards. This was the worst country show I have every seen. You know it’s bad when you can see on TV the people in the front row didn’t know what to make out of Love Shack. I love Taylor Swift she is a amazing performer, a awsome song writer, but she can’t sing live. Her performance with Def Leppard was so bad. I can’t believe nobody hears this horrible sound. I love her to pieces and she is amazing 19 yrs old. But she is not Faith Hill or reba or Carrie or Dolly they can sing live.
I hope country music doesn’t lose themselves. Country is so special. It has class, stories, meaning, fun, and lots of love. Dont change this on us. We will lose everything.

Old Goat 34, You are embarrassing yourself. Pop Music is not an individual genre of music, it’s a Mainstream industry consisting of many genres including, Rock, Rap, Hip Hop, R&B, Adult Contemporary, and yes even Country. Just as AMERICANA Music is more than just Country. AMERICANA also includes Rock, Blues, Bluegrass, Folk. Country music is just as good as it’s ever been. Just because you don’t know about it doesn’t mean it does not exist. Educate yourself. You’ll be a better person if you do.

I’ll agree, this was the worst country music award show on record. What is happening to this genre? How can they let someone who cant sing live open the show, perform, and close the show. Im not even gonna comment on all the other crap. The biggest tragedy was Lee Ann Womack, Martina McBride, Alan Jackson, and Jamey Johnson, who couldnt get performance slots, had to sit in the audience and watch it all go down.

I have to agree, the CMT awards show was not very entertaining. Brad Paisley & Jason Aldean sang way off key and too much time was devoted to Taylor Swift. She seems like a nice young woman and she is talented for sure but enough is enough. And, what’s with tough guy Toby Keith and his filthy mouth? I wish someone would tell Melissa Peterman she isn’t funny, she is ridiculous. I watched the red carpet interviews before the show and I really don’t care which designer made the clothes the women were wearing. I don’t know any of them so I was not impressed.

Just watched recording of last night’s CMT Awards. Very disappointed in Toby’s potty mouth. Show should have been titled “Taylor Swift Show”. Loved Keith and Brad. The genre is the New Country. Either you like it or you don’t. Depends on the entertainer. Kid Rock needs to stay away fromt the scene. He’s repulsive and scary. Why would Sheryl Crow want to be seen with him? She’s got more class than that. Dierks dog was darling. Better date than Kid Rock and probably a lot cleaner. The show was PG (pretty goofy)

seriously, i like some of her songs, but there’s so much more talent out there! it felt like 90% of this show was about her…ugh.
this yankee wanted to see some REAL country!
i’d rather see martina mcbride, lee ann womack, reba, alan jackson, more of trace adkins, more of rodney atkins, montgomery gentry, kenny chesney, etc.
this show was pretty boring, too. could have used some better writing. a dedication to the troops would have been nice, too.
i do have to say, though, that i did LOVE seeing bill o’reilly present. i’m a big fan.

Hey sis - Also a fellow WV here - not far from Brad’s hometown. Just love the guy, his music, talent, dedication to his family and fans. Can’t say enough good about him. Saw his son play guitar with another group - a little “mini Brad” on his way up ! lol. Seriously, I think it was great to see Brad get his awards.

Not a fan of the CMA Awards this year! Country is going downhill fast. Taylor Swift cannot sing worth a flip, and I agree with everyone else’s comments, there was WAY TOO MUCH of her. I was very happy to see Brad take home an award. He is one artist who still sounds and looks country. Country needs to stick to its roots. It has become way too mainstream. What happened to the Patsy Cline’s, Willie Nelson’s, Wynonna and Loretta Lynn’s? Is talent not even taken into consideration anymore? All Nashville cares about now is how a girl looks with bleach blond hair and hardly any clothes. Why? because sex sells. It’s time to go back to the good ole’ days and sign people who are really talented (Live and Recorded). I am not impressed with the non-talented talent that the Nashville Record Labels are signing on these days. Wynonna, Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson, LeAnn Rimes, Martina McBride, etc. these people all have actual TALENT; not just a pretty face.

I Love Country music and the CMA’s are all about America and values and great performances. WHAT WAS THAT? Come on! Stop and see that we do not want a new country. Get back to basics and bring us what we want - Country Music. Get rid of Taylor and her cute little ways. Disney channel is calling her.
