Kenny Chesney Will Not Be in the Movies
Go ahead and take all the still photos of him you want. But Kenny Chesney's people are trying to spread the word that there will be no video recording allowed at his concerts. So leave the video camera at home. And if you think you'll be tempted to break the rules, leave your cell phone and regular digital camera at home, too, if they have video capabilities. I know a "friend" who tried to film a teeny tiny bit of a Toby Keith show once, and they took "her" camera away and kicked "her" out. So not only did "she" not have footage, "she" had no memory of it either. I guess video recording got to be a huge problem at Chesney shows. At first, it sounded like his people were thinking about prohibiting ALL kinds of cameras. That's a policy that has already been initiated by a number of non-country acts. A post on Chesney's fan club message board said the "no video" rule is because his people were having trouble honoring contractual obligations with their corporate partners and record label. It sounds like they mean business.

Good thing he doesn’t do the Opry. They invite you to take pictures. I have yet to goto a concert where they are that bad about cameras especially digital. I say ban the camera ban the concert. What good is a show without memories.

I have been to alot of concerts in my day mostly rock but I’ll tell ya this they never let you take videos of anyone of them times have changed.

Way to go, Kenny. Nothing like alienating your best fans. Those upcoming reports of security thugs beating up an old lady who wouldn’t hand over her company cell phone or ripping the camera she got for her 10th birthday out of a little girl’s hands won’t be great PR for Kenny. So he’ll be stuck with a bunch of POed fans, gossip bloggers calling him a snotty superstar and the nastiest videos you could imagine posted on the ‘net. We have technology today that James Bond couldn’t have imagined, and people who know how to use it. This will just make some folks mad enough to shoot Kenny on the sly and post the worst.

I wish the artists would just get over this ‘no camera/no video’ thing. The cameras are here…almost every cellphone has video capabilities. Oh and such quality you get from those little cellphone video cameras…please! I don’t understand why artists are so uptight about these homemade concert footage videos. They are all over youtube. If I was an artist I would welcome any and all cameras/videos….the best free advertising out there. I watch youtube videos all the time. Doesn’t mean I won’t go to a concert. In fact, just the opposite - it makes me look forward to the chance to see my favorite artists live. Get with the times guys - this is the way of the music business these days - get over it!

One more thing..as someone up above said..this will alienate the very people who put the artist on the stage and gave them their success. Great PR. I admire the artists who see the cameras and play to them..knowing very well it will be all over the internt in a few hours. Play with it…use it…have fun with it.

Thank you Mister Chesney! I am so glad that you have changed your mind about NO camera’s … I would hate to have that happen, even though alot of artists are going to that. I hope everyone will honor your request and not take video’s; shoot, most of them out there are not that good anyway lol..

i totally agree with you Brenda. Those youtube videos are the reason i go to half the concerts i go to!! I had no idea that making videos wasnt allowed. i had front row to kenny in omaha and took three videos. I didnt post them online but i’m thrilled to have them to look back on and remind me why kenny is entertainer of the year. getting too strict on the camera thing is only going to cause problems and if i remember right, kennys all about no problems…(and no shoes and shirts =)

Is it that big a deal people? Can people really not go to a show and restrain themselves from shooting video of it. People think they should be able to do anything they want these days, and its ridiculous. So Kenny doesnt want people taking video at his shows… so what, grow up and respect the rules. Did anybody ever think that maybe the live shows might be a little more exciting to you if you hadnt already seen everything online before you got there?

I think the best thing is to keep memories in your head. No shoes, no shirt, no video, no problem! Go to see Kenny Live, and be sure everything will be in your head after that. I saw Kenny to Vegas last april, and i’m full of picture in my head about this song. After, i bought Kenny’s greteast hits II. That’s his job. We need to respect that. We have enough of video on cmt to appreciate Kenny’s show.

If you love Kenny and respect him as a performer (as I do) then just go to the show, respect his request, enjoy yourself and if you can’t respect his request, then stay home and just grow up.Obviously he has a good reason for asking this. I agree with Kevin… is it such a big deal?
Just do it! And as Jan said there are tons of clips on YouTube, and do we really need more? I don’t think so.

kenny dont have to stay on a tour bus almost all summer for you if you dont follow a couple of rules kenny has givin most of his adult hood so we can liseon to some of the best songs he won enertainer of the year 4 times and ha a lot of hits a last year his concert made the most money of any kind of music i bet he had the no video rule then too most of the concert video’s suck any way cause you have all the people screamin so i think kenny is tryin to help you save your money and dont wast it on tapin him when he knows the video will suck so leave him alone with it and let it be how he wants it i know i would not want my life all over the inernet SO LET HIM BE !! I don’t know. I feel for the artists. They do all this creative work to have a surprise show and after the first concert, the whole show is on Youtube. I saw the whole opening, every song that Carrie did, her talking to a little girl during “All American Girl” etc, plus dress changes, specials with other performers. I mean when I finally went to the concert, it’s like I knew what was going to happen before it happened. I still enjoyed the show but..I regretted seeing it on YouTube first.

I have been to many Toby Keith concerts and have ssen him stop and wait for a fan to take his picture. I am surprised that someone got “kicked” out of a Toby concert for having a video camera. Check out you tube! I was at a Dolly Parton concert a year ago and she absolutely forbid any pictures at all. So I guess the bottom line is to respect the artist whose concert you are attending.

A lot of it has to do with legality issues. That’s why a still shot is ok, but a video has the copyrights of the SONGS. Every singer sings songs that they did not right, and if you put those VIDEOS on the internet, the writers don’t get profits or residuals for it. That’s why they don’t want fans to take VIDEOS.

BTW Soundscan and Billboard jsut put an aticle out with six montha left in the decade Tim is the #1 best selling country artist of the decade, and #3 in ALL of music.
Kenny is the #3 in country music and #6 in all of music for this decade.
You know with LESS albums Tim has sold over 12 million more albums than Kenny in his career.
Tim has two albums that have sold over 6 million, Kenny’s highest selling album is When The Sun Goes Down at 4,111,000.
Tikm’s 2000 GH has sold 6 million, Kenny’s 2000 GH aqlbum has SOLD 3.9 million
Tim is the 7th best selling artist in all of music in the Soundscan era(may 1991 was the start of that era), Kenny is #32.
Kenny’s new GH album only sold 89,000 the first week and his Lucky album has only sold 700,000 so far. Heck even with numbers ones his album that had Don’t Blink only sold 1.5 million.

this whole cammra thing is not stupid. kenny needs to protect himsilf and his band members. so maybe if they just say of vidioe footage alowed but you can still take picuters at least you can still have memory of the show and so what you dont need a video if you are at the concert;.

Chesney has an ego bigger than Kayne. When he was here in Detroit last summer, he did an interview with a radio station after the show and he got all belligerent because someone was talking in the background while he was being interviewed. “What are they laughing about? Why are they talking when I’m talking?” He is a JERK. I’ll never go see him again. I’m with you, Rene Z.
