Kenny Chesney Thinks Nasty Weather's Sexy
"Let that summer island storm hit me like a hurricane. It's like she's right here whispering, ‘There's something sexy about the rain.'" At least, that's what Kenny Chesney told a Dallas crowd on Saturday night (May 2) when a big ol' Texas storm drenched his fans. So after 50 minutes of holding onto that show-must-go-on attitude, Chesney was forced to stop playing. The amount of water "threatened the integrity of the stage," and it was ruled unsafe to continue. But before he left, Chesney sang that old song "Something Sexy About the Rain." He later explained his decision to sing that one thusly: "Looking at all those people soaked to the bone, having the time of their lives through all that weather, all I saw was a lot of heart and a lot of passion for what we -- all of us, me and them -- were doing. If that's not sexy, that being there through some really nasty weather, because they'd come to have a good time and nothing was going to stop them, what is?"

There are not many performers who would come out there in the middle of a torrential downpour and keep on going. He did not want to leave and neither did we. He was right there in the middle of it with us. That shows true fan dedication right there. Rain be damned, he wanted to give us what we paid for. Kenny, you are wonderful and even though all of this was out of your control, I know you will do everything in your power to make it up to us somehow. I had a great day regardless!
Laura says:
We were there tailgating with members from his fanclub from 11:00 that morning and stayed until just before he called off the show. It was definitely a day my family will never forget. Despite the adverse weather conditions, we had the time of our lives!
Kim says:
Glad to see no one was hurt. Dallas Cowboys players and coaches down at Valley Ranch got beat up that same day and 3 people are still in the hospital. One guy is paralyzed from the waist down. Be careful out there people. Texas storms can get real un-sexy real quick.

I was at a bluegrass festival once, when the rain came. They didn’t cancel the show they just moved it under a big tent.
Emily says:
I had a blast despite all the nasty Texas weather! But to sing in the rain with Kenny was awesome!
TxAGG says:
Anyone suggesting that they should have “just moved it under a big tent” was obviously not there. You don’t “just move” all Kenny’s stuff “under a big tent.” There was a sustained downpour and serious lightning. I’ve been to one of his shows when a normal rain storm came through. Believe me, this was nothing normal and needed to be shut down. I’ll be surprised if a lot of the equipment did not have major damage. The rain was blowing sideways from the back of the stadium directly onto and up underneath the stage. A tent would have not come close to surviving the straigh line winds that were coming through at the time. Had I not had as much vodka in me as I did, I probably would have actually been a little scared.
Andria says:
I was there with some friends and it was some of the craziest weather I’d seen in a long time. The lightning was really the only thing I was concerned about. But I did pay to see a concert and with Sugarland canceling and Kenny playing only a few songs he is going to reschedule right? Nothing has been mentioned and I think all his fans deserve a bit more.
merlefan46 says:
With bluegrass you don’t need all the stuff Kenny uses.
merlefan46 says:
Heck at the show Del McCoury and Marty Stuart had their bands and their instruments since the vast majority of bluegrass uses accoutics ones they didn’t need any electricity also no mics were used.
There are videos of it on you tube. Just search for Del McCoury Romp 2007

The announcement that came over as everyone was leaving said there will be another show, at an indoor venue, within 30 days, hang onto your ticket stubs. That is all the information I have at the moment. I have no idea what the plan is and how they are going to manage it.
Chris says:
We just heard that the concert is rescheduled for Sunday May 17. Just bring your ticket stub for general admission seating.
MiaT says:
Gee Kenny…If you think that the rain is sexy, you should move here to Carol Stream, IL. & play a concert in my back yard. I think you could write song named ” I think mud is sexy”… LOL
laura says:
Just heard on 99.5 The Wolf that Kenny is coming back to Dallas on May 17th!!!!!!! Keep you ticket stubs and or the credit card receipt.
Kay says:
WOW! Wish I’d get to see him twice in a few weeks of one another. Hope ya’ll have fun..
Kim M says:
True Kenny style!! His give it all attitude is exactly why we were all standing out in the rain. My friends and I all had a blast and that is exactly what we came for. If you did not think Kenny looked SEXY standing there in the rain with nothing but him and his guitar you are CRAZY………..
merlefan46 says:
I must be crazy cause I don’t think Kenny is sexy at all.
Cathye Pendley says:
You have never seen him perform then. Looks are so much more than just your outside appearance — which his aren’t bad at all. It is your personality. Mr. Chesney puts on one heck of a concert. He is out there having fun and enjoying every minute of it. If he isn’t, then he needs to go into acting. My 13 year old daughter and I go every year to see him perform and thanks to my neice we were right at the stage this year and was able to take older her sister. The band was totally awesome. One of his guitar players actually let Katie touch his guitar. Altough it was only a few songs, it is a night she will never forget.
Watching him sing in the rain was very sexy and he looked awesome. Which is more than I can say for me and my daughters the rain had us looking like drowned rats!
It was a fun night for all of us, thanks to Mr. Chesney, his band, and my very giving niece.
merlefan46 says:
Seeing him live wouldn’t change my opinion. I don’t find anything sexy about him.
TxAGG says:
Then why do you feel it necessary to be so consumed with this topic, Merle? You’ve had absolutely nothing of any relevance to say about it. Flit away.
merlefan46 says:
I didn’t know different opinions weren’t allowed.
RedMaZ says:
Hey Chesney…Brooke Shields called circa.1980. She wants her Blue Lagoon back.
