Take Me Out to This Ballgame
I've been to a lot of kids' baseball games in my life. More than I can count, really. And even with my own son playing in them and really good snacks, they somehow never had quite the same magic that this weekend of games will probably have.
That's because Keith Anderson will be there, throwing out the first pitch Friday evening (May 1). And because Tim McGraw is supposed to be making an appearance at the games, maybe even with his wife. Now that is my kind of baseball tournament.
It's an event called Stepping Up to the Plate and will benefit the Tug McGraw Foundation. Both Anderson and McGraw have lost parents to brain disease, so it makes a lot of sense that their hearts would be full of passion and generosity for this good cause. The three days of baseball games will raise money to improve the quality of life for people living with brain tumors.
These all-star kids from in and around Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and Ohio are getting together for some all-American baseball, country style. Even the team names are adorable: Franklin Heat, Memphis Outlaws and Music City Tornados. There will also be a silent auction and a presentation of Kevin Costner's Field of Dreams movie. Again, things they just don't do at the kids sporting events in my world.
But this is Nashville. So McGraw and Anderson sightings are always a possibility. Come out this weekend, though, and you may also get a glimpse of the other celebs on deck: the Warren Brothers, Lance Miller and ESPN's Baseball Tonight host John Kruk. Plus, they'll have all the incentive you need to bring the kids along: an inflatable bouncy thing, face painting, photo booth and a full concession stand. Tickets are $8 -- or $15 for a three-day pass, but little ones under 12 get in for free. Where? The Music City Fields at McMurray Middle School in Nashville.

So your sons baseball game don’t have the same magic as ones with celebrity appearances?
Wow, hope your poor son doesn’t read this.

This school isn’t far from my house, but I’ve got a ton of stuff to do this weekend. I might try to remember to drive by it during my errands. You forgot to give the address of the school: 520 McMurray Drive, Nashville, TN 37211. It’s not a main road, so anyone wanting to go who’s unfamiliar with Nashville probably needs to program their GPS system.

No thanks, I think I’ll pass on this bore fest.

Little Diva Pop Star Timmie will probably get mad about how the back drop in centerfield looks and refuse to go like he did at the ACM’S
Christine says:
Wow, I am surprised you said that about your sons baseball games. I don’t need anyone there to make my sons baseball game better except watching him play. He is my magic.
I agree, I hope your son doesn’t read this.
And I will tell you being a Faith & Tim fan I think they would be shocked you wrote that. They are one big happy family & their girls are their life & they would never say that about their girls softball games.
I am glad that he is there but he wouldn’t make my sons baseball game better, that is for sure.

I’d have to side with Alison and against those who are chastizing her for saying that her son’s games may not have “quite the same magic” as a celeb charity game.
First off theres a good chance that statement was a bit of hyperbole.
Second, just as kids aren’t always interested in the activities of their parents, and just as one spouse doesn’t always like the activities another spouse likes, I think its fair if a parent doesnt find Little League baseball the most “magical” event out there, even if her son is in the game.
And its perfectly fair to admit that one feels this way too in a way its more admirable than pretending to enjoy something one finds dull.

There really are some sick people out there, both Tim and Faith have shown they have huge hearts especially when it comes to kids.
Very generous with their time and money to help those in need, how many of you that come on here and spout hate, meanness and ugliness have ever volunteer and gone out og your way to help someone in need. I doubt at all by some of your ugly, ugly comments.

Stepping Up To The Plate sounds like it was a real fun event. I have enjoyed many little league games, but to have Keith Anderson and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill there……come on you people, they would certainly add another level of excitement for me. Alison, thanks for letting us know about events like this, I love hearing about the charity work that the country performers do, it makes me proud to be a country fran.

if yall would actually read tim says he has always wanted sons to in his life and stuff like that and he has done more in the world than any other artist has EVERR done in there life. look at how much money him and faith donate to places. at least they arnt them stuck up non good rich ass celebs and take pride in there stuff and not stuck up in the fame like the other sorry asses out there. think before some of yall speak about what he is saying and it comes out wrong sometimes and he dont write these he just tells about stuff and others right it the way they wanna. tim keep rockin!
