Dierks Bentley Rocked the Ellen Crowd

Posted: April 28th, 2009 at 4:43 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Dierks BentleyIt's easy to get Ellen DeGeneres to dance. She does so at the beginning of her talk show every single day. But the audience? That was a job for Dierks Bentley. During his performance Tuesday (April 28), he left the stage halfway through "Sideways" to go running up and down the stairs and through the aisles, all while singing. He had the crowd dancing and singing along with him until the very end. It was very Keith Urban of him. Then Ellen announced that he'd just signed a Martin guitar for her and that she'd be putting up on her eBay auction to help benefit the Humane Society of the United States. Nice idea, but don't expect any steals. Bidding is already over $500.

Saw Dierks live on Sunday evening and he is a outstanding entertainer. He should join the ranks of Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban.

He’s such a “wannabe”. He just doesn’t have the “WOW” factor — not at all.

Hey Truthteller……have you ever seen Dierks Bentley LIVE in concert?? Hmm…maybe you should change your name to Opinionteller.

I consider him joining the ranks of Chesney and Urban an insult, but I agree. He’s just as lame as they are. Three reasons why Pop Country is the worst genre in all of today’s country music scene. Helping the Humane Society is a good gesture though.

Do you know that Dierks played mostly bluegrass clubs with the Sidemen when he got his start in Nashville Redmaz? He is so much more of a true country artist than Kenny and Keith. Do us all a favor and listen to his Last Call with Ronnie McCoury and Beautiful World with Patty Griffin before you call him lame and label him as pop country. There is not one thing pop about Dierks Bentley.

I’m bummed that I did not get to see this! I would never put him in that type of category! See him live, listen to a few of his CDs, you will see.

    What a fun guy!

Well I am truly guessing that any of you that is calling him a wanna be, pop country, not worthy to rake with Keith and Kenny has never seen him in concert. Dierks by far is one of the best if not thee best out there. He puts his whole heart into his music and performing. He plays blue grass alot besides the songs that you are more fimlar with. As much as I love Keith Urban I don’t get why so many people are saying he is “Keith Urban” like he is like “Dierks”, which is like no one else. He has been going into the crowds at his shows since he started. That’s just what Dierks does makes you part of the show. And he always goes the extra mile for his fans! So before you bad mouth him actully listen to his cd’s and go to a concert before you pass judement that is untrue on him!

You go Dierks keep on rockin!!! Love ya!

It helps to have some idea of what you’re talking about before you go spouting off…otherwise you just look uninformed and ignorant.

Ain’t nothing “pop” about Dierks’ brand of country. And if he’s a “wannabe” then I wannabe right there rocking with him! He’s the best thing country music has going for it today and his live show is the best, hands down. Get a clue.

Hotomolly20 says “Ain’t nothing ‘pop’ about Dierks’ brand of country.”

But it is played on the pop country stations (and not on non-pop stations), his audience is mostly those who listen to other pop country acts, his music is designed to have mass market appeal, and his music sounds like other pop country music.

I would say that nearly everything about Dierk’s “brand of music” is pop. Pop country to be sure, but still pop.

Yes…I have heard his Bluegrass stuff, and his other stuff as well. I comment on no music before I listen to it. That wouldn’t be fair or make any sense. It could be that you’re unaware as to what Pop music really is, but hotelmotel is correct. His music is played on Pop Country radio. You know….the radio stations with the screamin’ dj’s who probably know less about Country Music than you do?…the radio stations with the screamin’ ^^^ commercials every 6 minutes?, the radio station where everybody is a part of the “listener family”?. You know…THAT Pop Country radio station, along with Urban and Chesney, and a handful of other acts over and over…..

However it’s nice to help out the Humane Society

    BAD NEWS!!!
My good friend, and soon to be brother in-law, won the guitar that Dierks Bentley played on the Ellen show and then auctioned off on ebay. We are from small town Iowa so everyone knew that he won the guitar from the auction. Soon after he received the guitar his house was broken into and robbed, taking a desktop and laptop computer, and yes, the Dierks Bentley autographed guitar. Please keep your eye out for the guitar being sold again on ebay or other auctions on the internet. P.S. the guitar was stolen July 22 or 23, 2009
