Tim McGraw Tackles Another Football Movie

Posted: April 15th, 2009 at 12:24 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Tim McGrawWhy must perfectly good country singers spend time making movies? It is a phenomenon I will probably never understand. But at least this time, Tim McGraw is honing his acting chops with Sandra Bullock by his side. I don't know anyone who doesn't love her. McGraw will be playing her do-gooder hubby, Sean Touhy, in a film called The Blind Side. They start shooting in Atlanta in a couple of weeks. It's based on a 2006 book and accompanying New York Times story about a homeless black teen who is taken in by the Touhys and then grows up to be an offensive lineman for the Ole Miss football team. (McGraw was so good in Friday Night Lights that I think another sports movie is right up his alley.) And the best part about this heartwarming only-in-America tale is that it's based on a true story.

I agree. Singers should sing. And even more important than that, actors should act, and please not sing.

I think that people should do what they please. If Tim wants to act some let him act. Think about Kristofferson, a legandary country songwriter, has many acting roles under his belt.

I don’t blame Tim. Curb doesn’t seem to want to release his new album any time this century, so it’s not as if he has to tour to support the album or do press for it.

If he wants to act its his business, He is a entertainer and that can include many things.

Do you make the same comment about Dolly, Reba, Clint,Toby, Trace, Kenny Rogers, the last great Roy Rogers and many more. Get off your high horse he can do what he wants.

I think Tim is a great actor. I don’t blame him for not doing that much touring because of his record contract. He will never give up singing but there is nothing wrong with doing both. Can’t wait for the movie. Sandra & Tim will light up the screen. :)

These absolutes like “singers should sing” make for fine blog comments.

But in real life, some people do possess more than one talent. Some people can sing AND act, or play chess, or throw a baseball, or make farting noises with their armpits.

Country singers who IMO made movie magic include Dwight Yoakam (the perfect villian in “Slingblade”), Jerry Reed, Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton. I’m sure there are more.

I don’t have a problem with Tim Mcgraw acting. I’ve just seen too many actors try to sing, and it’s terrible. And I would prefer to hear a new Tim Mcgraw song than see a new Tim Mcgraw movie.

Alright, we got something wonderful to look forward to another movie with Tim in it! I have seen every one of the movies he made, even the one where he played the sheriff and he said he didn’t think he did a good job. Rick Shroeder was the producer, the name of it escapes me dang it oh well. I loved him in Flicka, that was an awesome movie, he was terriffic in Friday Nite Lites, but he is a terriffic actor and he played a hard dad in it and he played the part well, but I still loved him in it.
As for those of you wanting more of his music email, I have a terriffic idea, how’s about we all bombard Curb and let them know we are well aware that Tim has a new cd and we want them to release it, it can’t hurt, anyonelse up for it, I am for sure! Till the cd comes out I look forward to seeing him in his new movie! Congrats to Tim on this new role we all know you’ll be great!
Oh and I do agree that many country artists are great actors however it sure does not seem to work the other way, most I have heard try to sing who are actors, well I am just gonna say stick to acting as they sure don’t seem to fair to well in the music industry, however now our country artists especially Tim McGraw and those above already mentioned don’t forget the late great Johnny Cash he too was awesome, can do no wrong whether its singing or acting they are able to do them and do they ever make us proud!!! Thanks for the heads up, cya when it comes out!

Can’t wait for this one . . . love Tim and Sandra both! The story line appears to be exceptional and I’m sure it will bring out both Tim and Sandra’s true characters being they are both generous and tender hearted human beings.

Love Tim as the artist both musically and acting.

I see no reason why a person can’t try different things in life. Lots of people change careers or get new hobbies or what not. I see no reason why a singer shouldn’t do acting, if he wants to (and is decent enough at it).

I agree with Tom and “The Last Word.”

Just a heads up..Tim isn’t as good looking as he once was! Hollywood won’t accept him nearly as much. Roles will be few and far between.

True stories always seem to make good scripts/plots for movies.

Tim is very talented and is a great choice for this role.

Lacey . . . If looks were the only thing that got males into acting jobs there would be alot less movies made and alot of great actors out of work. There are too many great actors to mention that are not the most handsome men as well as the most youthful looking. I think Tim will do just fine . . . as well as hold his own. All different ages are required for successful movies so many, many actors can fulfill their dreams until they die or want to quit acting. Granted, there may be less roles for the aged, however, people like Morgan Freeman, Jessica Tandy, and several others have long, long careers.

As janetgijoenurse said, Tim is an entertainer, and an excellant one at that. His interests are varied and he is very talented. I also love Sandra Bullock and am looking forward to this movie.
