Trisha Yearwood Knows Women Can Build, Too
When these ladies talk about getting their nails done, it means something completely different. During National Women Build Week, more than 7,000 female volunteers across the country -- including Trisha Yearwood -- will be constructing homes on behalf of Habitat for Humanity. The singer will start her week in Tulsa, Okla., where she now lives, and then head to Atlanta, perhaps to get down on her knees and hammer some shingles. In the last few years, Reba McEntire has also stepped up to promote the charitable organization, which helps the needy build their own home with "sweat equity" and no-interest loans. I've done about five or six builds myself, including one in Americus, Ga., the birthplace of Habitat for Humanity, and just down the road from Yearwood's hometown of Monticello. Let me tell you, they aren't kidding about the "sweat" part. But the warm-and-fuzzy feeling of passing over the keys to a hard-working family is undeniable, especially because they've been hanging gutters laying turf right beside you all along.

A lot of stars do a lot of kind things and we never hear about it. Trisha is a down home girl. I wish we could hear more of her music. Instead of all the Disney people that think they are country.

She better get the hair out of her eyes first or the only nail she’ll be hammering is her own. Now THAT’s gotta hurt…
