Trace Adkins Returned "In Color" in Las Vegas
Trace Adkins won an ACM Award on Sunday night (April 5) for "You're Gonna Miss This," but he also mentioned that he was the first to record "In Color," which won for song of the year. "In Color" was written by Jamey Johnson, Lee Thomas Miller and James Otto.
"Yeah, I cut it," Adkins told reporters backstage in Las Vegas. "I was actually in Vegas. I was playing at the Hilton, and Jamey, Dallas Davidson and Randy Houser [co-writers of 'Honky Tonk Badonkadonk'] all came to the show that night, and they came backstage. Jamey came up to me and said, ‘Man, I've got a record deal. These people want to put out this album on me, and they want "In Color" to be my first single. What do you think?' And I said, ‘Do it. It's a great song, you're a co-writer on it. I didn't write it. I love the song, it's beautiful. I wanted to put it on my album but it's your song, man, so good luck.' And the rest is history."

Jamey Johnson, in my opinion, is saving “mainstream” country from itself. because over the years it has been transforming into what it is today. I hope Jamey goes far. Just like in the lines of the George Jones song “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes?” I believe it is Jamey Johnson.

I thank Trace so much for singing “In Color” because it only means more money for my most favorite singer, James Otto that is, because James is one of the writers of the song and also who I think that sings it the best, I love James SO much!!! (big smile)
