A Different Spin on "I Hope You Dance"
While I was browsing the list of songwriters appearing at Tin Pan South this week, I noticed in Tia Sellers' bio that "I Hope You Dance" found a second life in England a few years ago. Over there, it was sung by a guy, Ronan Keating, one of the most successful pop stars in that country. The video is a little bit schmaltzy, with the bundled-up singer belting out in a forest amid frolicking children, but I'm sure some people don't mind the sentiment.
