Stay Up Late for the Eli Young Band
I have a new favorite song from a new favorite band, and I want to share the love. And luckily, Jimmy Kimmel agrees with me. Because tonight (April 2), he's having the Eli Young Band on his show. They'll be performing their brilliantly written, beautifully sung "Always the Love Songs." (That's my new favorite, because of lines like this: "Honky-tonk drinkin' songs/We could do 'em all night long/But the ones I remember the most/It was always the love songs every time/Made everybody feel something inside.) But they'll also be doing "When It Rains," which isn't bad either. Frontman Mike Eli has, in my opinion, the perfect country voice. Yearning, believable and pure, without too much of a heavy-handed twang. It's definitely worth staying up late for. And if you can't handle the late air time, it's definitely worth making room for it on your DVR.

I love the Eli Young Band!!! I’m so glad they’re finally on radio with that amazing song. And you hit it on the head about his voice. I can’t get enough of it!

How on Earth did you ever find out about Eli Young Band? Are they gettng Pop radio airplay now? Anyway…I first heard about them in 03, and thought their 05 CD “Level” was good. As far as Mike’s having the perfect country voice? Compared to Chesney, Urban, or McGraw…maybe so, but if you really listened to all of today’s country music singers…not so much. Jet black and Jealous is a little too greased up for me. They’re a good band, but personally I’ve moved on.
