Tift Merritt Prepares Photo Exhibit, Live Album
Over the weekend, I was enjoying Tift Merritt's Bramble Rose album and decided to see if she'll be coming through Nashville anytime soon. Nope. (Drag.) However, she has booked several concerts for April, and after that, she has a few cool projects in the works. On May 1, an exhibit of her photographs, titled "Other Countries," will be displayed at the Mahler, a fine art gallery in Raleigh, N.C. She calls the collection the "visual component of the record I wrote that summer." That record being 2008's Another Country -- already one of my all-time favorites. And speaking of another country, she'll also play the Jazz Café in London, less than a week later.
I don't know when she'll get back to Nashville, and who knows if I'll make it to Raleigh, but I guess I can be satisfied with Buckingham Solo, an acoustic album she recorded last year in Buckingham, England. With my preorder, I am receiving a collectible postcard set from "Other Countries," too. Maybe when she plays Bonnaroo, which isn't too far from Nashville, I'll see if I can sneak away for the day. And in case you missed it, check out her video for "Broken."

The Live album is fantastic, got it (and got to meet her) when she was here in Glasgow (Scotland) in January :-)

Can’t believe it’s been ten years since the TDP and Tift Merritt CD. Bramble Rose is still my favorite CD from her. She’s wonderful..
